Race Event Season One announced!

I dont know why some people are bitchin about the rewards.
Its understandable that they wont ruin the economy. The idea with the uniques is pretty good i think. Yes, they arent over the top but i also dont want that.

Imagine they would give you overpowered equip. This would definitly ruin the game.

Some people are complaining about the race types. GGG is a team of 20 persons and they do a better job than companies with 200 man and more.Keep this in mind and you will get a different perspectiv.

I have no complains, GGG will use my money to make the best out of it.

If you dont like the concept its your opinion. NO ONE FORCES YOU to play ladder races.

You have to remember to chase and catch your dreams, because if you don't, your imagination will live in empty spaces, and that's nowhere land.
People are bitching because the beta rewards were a better system to encourage participation than grinding points over several races during the season and getting some collector art which many (most?) people don't care about.

For those concerned about the economy, it's also going to flood the market with all those crappy uniques which are already not that valuable.

Please read the info on the races and do the math. It shouldn't take an average player more then 20-30 hours (in six weeks) to grind a very usefull ilvl 100 Coral Ring.

20 hours for a coral ring that can roll the same stats as any coral ring from high end maps. I hope this was sarcasm.

No sarcasm. It also has custom art, you know.

There is also the excitement of being in a race and figuring out ways to finish as high as possible. Its a game to enjoy playing not work thats only worth it if rewarded properly.

The usefulness of an ilvl 100 Coral Ring <<<<<<< 20-30 hours. I could grind the actual game content for 20-30 hours and generate many multiples of wealth compared to that silly Coral Ring.

You'll never find a ring with more potential, period.

Which is why they went from useful rewards to enjoy crafting some items which brought half of the playing population to participate in races to just collector art stuff that you have to grind a lot longer for. Lol. Your arguments are just terrible.

The ultimate reason you need to give currency rewards for races is that entering a race COSTS currency.

When racing you spend all your currency to try and race just that much better, then if you do poorly you will often come out behind, or break even on currency, if you do well you can rake in a big payday, but the winners of races do deserve something.

By removing the currency reward for racing you risk ruining racing, and causing players to just play for 3hours in a 3 hour race league and play normally the whole time... they won't use that orb of alchemy on their level 20 weapon to try and win the race, they'll just save it and accept losing the race because that orb is worth more than the prize they would've possibly earned by spending it... this will taint race results.

All of this not to mention that currency you lose by simply not playing normal leagues for those 3 hours. GGG just does not understand the issue with what is happening to their economy here, races were never the enemy, there's no proof or evidence that races damage the economy. There is evidence that the economy is being damaged, yes? possibly? but since there have been NO RACES... that's almost proof that races aren't to blame.

100% agree with this.

101% agree!

Or I can pay a chaos and get an ilevel 77 coral ring and roll the same stats. Sure in a year from now when there are level 100 maps it will save me the 1 chaos to buy a white ilevel 100 then.

If you don't enjoy playing and can't understand the appeal of a ilvl 100 Coral Ring (with custom art!) this might not be your game.

In the closed beta people would play races knowing their won items would be deleted soon.

This may be the worst attempt at logic I have ever seen.

But I don't really understand. Many complaints are regarding the rewards. Ok I can understand that. But many other complaints seem to be along these lines:

"I wont win a race / I cant play all the races but I want stuff anyway"

I don't get it. Its a RACE, like a competition. You don't normally get a price if you loose a competition do you? Its like a kindergarten race here where all the little kids get a price...
I really like the idea behind the races and the prizes,

However I am concerned about the reward to effort ratio for the average player,

How many points do I get for playing in a 1h event if I dont even make it into the top 50?
How many points do I get for playing in a 1week event if I die on the last day?
What if I dont like racing?
What if I dont like playing HC?
What if I am just not that skilled?

It is one thing if these races are designed for the various powergamers that play PoE,
It is another if this is going to be the "ladder" for most of the playerbase,

Might I suggest a long term HC and SC league that runs the duration of the race season(6weeks?)

Not sure how you would give out points or even if you would, Maybe X points for beating each difficulty? Boss kills? Or just have this be separate from the races all together

As it is right now I will probably not participate in any of the race events, as I am really not that competitive of a person. I do plan on watching the various streams of people that do the races though, I think that will be quite entertaining.

With that being said, I can see where powergamers would really like this season system. I think that it is great for the competitive spirit of the community.
