Race Event Season One announced!

I'm responding to the news post to give feedback on the race structure. You're responding to the news post to post ad hominems against me. Who's the waste of space here?

There is the problem. You think what you typed is "feedback". It isn't. You make assumptions about things that you don't know. You draw analogies that make no sense and aren't analogous to this situation.

State your concern. State your suggested solution. For bonus points, try to frame it as a suggestion rather than a declaration that you know more about video games and human behavior than the developers do. That is feedback. The garbage you offered is garbage.

(Also Chris has already asked that people post feedback/suggestions in the proper forum, not as a response to the announcement posts. Not that you would care.)

Ad hominem would be attacking you personally and suggesting your potentially valid points are invalid due to some flaw in your character. I'm attacking the words in your post. I'm saying the words you typed are bad. I don't care who authored them. You are just a name on the screen. I don't know you.

I'm disappointed with these rewards because some of those are so easy to get (Redbeak for example) that their value ingame will hit rock bottom.

Not to mention a lot of people will just make a ton of alt accounts to get multiples of those (since coral/wanderlust are pretty much the only universally useful uniques)

Im sorry, but those rewards are just bad. A white ring that drops all the the time? For unique artwork? Some of those uniques are ones that I can hardly give away. At the least, the rewards should of been some of the better uniques out there. There is not one item in there that would make me want to participate in multiple events.

At least if it was orbs i would do a few of them. I don't think even orbs are enough to make these feel manditory, but at least i would feel like I was getting something out of the deal. And if you say, the rewards aren't the point, well I have to disagree. The entire point of an arpg is the rewards. Whether that be an item, or your next level which lets you keep the build going, its all a carrot on a stick. And there is just no carrot for these events.

Its not that big of a deal to me, cause even if the rewards were AMAZING, i still wouldn't do that many(for me, arpg are all about my main characters and improving them, and I bounce back and forth between multiple characters), but as it stands, I will be doing none.

yes but its also a high ilevel so it can be rerolled for perfect stats.

plus it looks neat
My favorite posts are the people claiming "90%" of the population.

Man, your friends list must be full all the time! How is it that you talk for so many people ?

lol
My favorite post is the original one, where Chris expresses his satisfaction and surprise at the success of race events in CB, and then announces that they're scrapping the reward system for some unique art that can be obtained over multiple races over the course of the season.

That was definitely the funniest.

Great news!

Take care out there.

IMO these times are very biased against the US player base. Being on PST and working a normal 8-5 jobthere is only one race max a day I can play in and it starts at 9pm. If it's anything more than a 1-2h race this gets to be very late at night. This would be even worse for someone from the east coast where none of these times really work into the normal work day.

Nonetheless, thanks for all the effort that was put into this aspect of the game! It does look very exciting and can't wait to try one.

You think it's bad for you? Well the east coast starts at MIDNIGHT, no thank you. The alternate is 4pm... well I work for a living. I was pumped when I heard about more races and an actual season... then I took a look at the schedule and the llama (sorry, just seems a lil lame) rewards.

I love the game, love the efforts put into it, however I feel a significant amount of people are not going to be able to participate because, imagine this, real life getting in the way.

I vote a nerfed currency reward over items, just my opinion.

Also could you set up races over a 24 hour period where players are only allowed to have one character and play the allotted time. If you die your out, game over. If you last the 2 hour event 9orwhatever) its recorded. I'm just rambling (at work) over the disappointing race season due mainly to the times scheduled. I could get over the rewards, but no way in hell I'm going to run a 2 hour race at midnight ending at 2am to get up at 6am

You do realize that I said this would be even worse for east coast gamers right? I definitely understand and I hope they will implement something that will help fix this. I do think that would be an interesting solution to the problem that you are given a two hour time limit within a longer timeframe to play. I could see people with multiple accounts then playing the same two hour ladder and getting multiple characters into the top 20 within the day long "two hour" race. I can see people complaining about either one, so I'm not sure if just having a couple more races available in different timeframes or if the 24 hour window is a better option.

I like that you at least have some ideas on how to fix the issues instead of just complaints!

Looks good. I'm definitely gonna try to take part in a couple of Races every Week. Maybe I can keep up with the better Players at Some point in the Season. ;)

But I don't like the Reward Point-Prizes. I'd much rather have some Cosmetic effects that can only be won by Competing in Races.

Or how about a Reward Point based Crafting System: The Player wouldn't get Currencies but could Chaos Orb his Item for 20 Reward Points. Or he gets the ADVANCED Chaos Orb effect: The new Item will have 6 Affixes every time (somewhat more costly obviously), or he could keep one of the current Affix on the Item/Pick one from the Affix Pool he will definitely get.
Meh, disappointing. With no useful rewards the races are just a huge waste of time to me.
Is the icon the only thing changed or is the In-game 3d-model custom too?
