My 2c on Lab

I've yet to hear a solid argument for why spending 20 hours (assuming a non-godly player here) running through four acts on three difficulties is okay, but spending an extra 1-2 hours on running the labyrinth three times is not.

Ok. I'll bite.

First, answer me this question: Do YOU find the lab a difficult thing to do? Is it a challenge for you skill wise? Yes or No.
For me it would made more sense if they added the ascendancy points as the reward for killing malachai on each difficulty and let lab be for the enchants only. So long past release and malachai still give no reward whatosever...

All the end-act bosses give no reward at all ( only exception is Merc Dominus giving you a yellow map -does it still?) while they should imho...
That said, I'm ok with ascendancy points being behind lab [or at least behind Izaro, as someone else suggested in another thread], makes sense.

If it makes your RIDICULOUSLY OP then you deserve to suffer like there's no question about that.

Can I suffer without the traps, please? I have a ridiculous idea, but hear me out, ok? Maybe, just maybe, they could buff the monsters instead. It's stupid, but it may work out, considering arpgs are about killing monsters. Oh, don't bite. You know I'm joking. This isn't a D3 clone or something. Everybody knows that PoE is a thriving alternative to the Tomb Raider series.

Isn't it relaxing to take a break from destroying tens of enemies per second and making the screen explode? Don't you just wanna take some time off to pull a stupid lever or something?

I'm sure that if they shove the lab down our throats a little more, everybody will like it.

And yes, this post is excessively salty.

PS: If PoE ever fails, GGG can expand the lab into a full game. I'm not being sarcastic, they could make a bad Legend of Zelda clone. From the looks of it, they are awfully proud of the lab. Maybe they can go find a community that appreciates that trash.

Malachai isnt even remotely difficult enough to warrant points being put there.
Harvest sucks! But look at my decked out gear two weeks in!

Labyrinth salt farm miner.

Neither is Normal and Cruel lab, but they still put them there.

Yeah, thats a lie because theyve nerfed Izaro multiple times in each difficulty now, including his health because players found him too difficult. Clearly he was and still is difficult because plenty of people are still complaining about izaro in all difficulties.

I did at first. I restarted playing after a long break shortly after ascendancy release, and on my first attempts at merciless lab I got a sound beating from Izaro in the first encounter. My character was around level 70 at the time, so not many levels over the labyrinth. I've since learned to deal with the traps and Izaro's mechanics, as well as improved my build. Honestly, I think sub-par skills and items accounted for much of the initial difficulty at first.

After several hundreds of hours of playtime since ascendancy and having run the labyrinth a few dozen times, it is no longer particularly difficult to me. I've found life and armour based builds the easiest so far. On an ES character with little regen I still have to be careful to not take too many hits.

People are still whining? If they're too bad, why don't they just overlevel a little bit? Get 10 extra levels and lab is the easiest thing in the game if you don't fuck around with the traps.

I'm back to playing PoE after a long break starting near end of Warbands, briefly checking Ascendancy and only coming back for Prophecy.

I definitely found Labyrinth to be intimidating and frustrating when I run it for the first time few times. I no longer dread it as much as I did earlier but there is still some foul taste in my mouth every time I decide to run it.

What I greatly dislike about Labyrinth is its disparity in treating various builds. I hate how it can be disproportionately more difficult or easy depending on what build you use. Just recently I created Reave build with Whirling Blades as my movement skill. Oh boy!, Labyrinth suddenly become huge pain in the ass compared to my caster builds using Lightning Warp or Flame Dash.

6 Ascendancy points are within reach of any working build even if Merciless labyrinth can be annoying. This is purely softcore perspective, which might be completely different in hardcore (I dont play HC characters other than few races, therefore, I wont comment on HC labyrinth balance).
