[2.6] The Curse Whisperer - Tri-Curse CI Whispering Ice Elementalist - Viable for Everything
" You would need a 6L for that, which isn't exactly cheap. Edit: Unless you were to remove the leap slam combo, which I dont usually use. So it would be something like: Gloves: 3R 1B (CWDT, Immortal Call, Flame Golem, extra slot). Boots: 2R 2B (CWDT, Warlord's mark, Curse on hit, orb of storms or ball lightning). Chest: The setup this guides does, with 2 curses, curse on hit, CWDT, trigger spell and extra slot (discipline for me). Helmet: Arctic armour, Ice golem, 2 extra slots. So you would have 3 extra slots with this setup, at the cost of the leap slam combo (you could put discipline on your gloves, arctic armour on your chest, and the leap slam combo on your helmet if you want, and you will be left with an extra 1 slot to put anything you want). Hi! I'm a new-ish player and I wish to try out this build. Is this still viable in BSC?
Secondly I see that Astramentis Onyx Amulet is in the mandatory uniques section. Is there any alternative to that amulet, since its kind of expensive right now. Thanks for the guide this is probably one of the best written guides I have seen on this forum! Last edited by Potterapple#3911 on Jan 6, 2017, 10:27:09 AM

everything is vialbe in softcore
you can get around wearing astramentis by stacking str and dex in other places, or just running with unleveled gems. |

" Oh ok thanks! So astramentis is used only to cover up some lacking str and dex, no other reasons. Thanks for the reply :) |

I'm low on resists ... seems to be my biggest challenge with this build, finding decent items with enough resist because i have none on the jewelry. Only got boots, gloves and armor to get resists on.
Gah ... just sacrificed 400ES on my chest to get a bit more resist ... now i'm pretty sorry i did so :P Last edited by MarlonB#0429 on Jan 6, 2017, 12:16:02 PM

I don't fully understand the mechanics behind ES. For instance, I had 6556 ES buffed with Discipline in my HO, and then put a point into a +10 Intelligence node. This resulted in me having 6586 ES, resulting in an approximate ES upgrade by only 0.46 %. But the tooltip for intelligence claims that 10 Int = 2 % increased ES, which would have yielded 6687 ES or 100 additional ES than my results.
How come? And also, is 6586 very low ES considering Im level 83? Currently doing t10 maps with ease, but thats just because of bad luck in finding cooler maps. Will this ES level cause huge problems come say t15 or so? |

" Increased base ES. All the %increased energy shield, unless they're more, just add to each other. If you have 100 base, 20% increased for 120 and you add a 10% increased, you have 130, not 132. |

" It's a Breach-only drop, not available in Standard (unless you can get one ripped from BHC but I wouldn't count on it; 40ex right now on poe.trade). I haven't tried it in the league yet. Gaining 5% damage as chaos is similar to 5% MORE, but I doubt that it's going to be as good as a 50 value jewel (Izaro or 4-mod). You already have a 3x more powerful option for this in a flask, without spending a jewel socket: Placing this jewel in the Witch area socket where it reaches Frost Walker essentially gives you 3 frenzy charges (12% MORE damage) during trash clear, and then swap it back for the boss. That's fine, but it's an overkill, we already clear maps with IR easily. I'm too lazy to swap jewels that often. :) The only place where I can see a real use for this jewel is the Uul/Chayla Domain. That's where it should be really nice to have. But that's a very specific case. " If you are not using the massive DPS bonus from Mastermind while clearing (which is fine, trash is too easy) then why would you consider a different DPS bonus just for clearing? If you don't need it - you don't need it. Mastermind is much better for the bosses. Pyre is a core part of the build and can only be replaced with AoF+CtF at the very top levels with godly gear. But dropping the fire conversion would destroy your DPS. " Spam chromatics on it. It's a Str/Int weapon, it gets random blue and red sockets most of the time. If you get the exact right combo for your links (4B linked) - good. If you get 4 blue sockets on top and 2 red on the bottom - finish it with Vorici 4L (5 fuses), it will link the 4 top sockets. " That's one of the nice options that CwC gives you. Needing to take damage to trigger extra leech can be unsafe. WM aura also makes everything near you get perma-stunned by Icestorm, that alone is better than, say, aurafying TC. You can run PoE but only for the maps where you don't need the other Purity setup for the boss. In those setups you can't CWDT WM because you'll get killed while it's triggering (Shaper, Phoenix). So then it's just an anti-EW setup? But EW is already not a big deal for the Elementalist. I wish there was another super useful aura that cost less than 50% mana. But I don't see one. " No. This is not accurate. Getting as much as 116 flat int from an amulet (which is then scaled by % int elsewhere) is huge. The strength and dex for gem requirements is a quality of life thing. We use Astramentis first and foremost for the huge amount of intelligence it gives. If you want to play WI and cannot afford Astramentis, you can get away with a rare amulet for as long as it takes, but generally speaking Astramentis is going to be bis. If you use a rare amulet, you want a Lapis amulet that has a flat int roll and a flat "+ all attributes" roll as well, to get as much Int as possible. With this you could theoretically get 117 intelligence from one rare amulet, and other stats on top of it, but that requires a perfectly blessed Lapis (30 Int implicit), and t1 Intelligence (51-55 Int) and t1 All Attributes (29-32) Divined to their highest values, which will be VERY expensive (like... just buy an Astramentis). U MAD?

Hello page 200! In almost exactly 6 months. Not bad for a build that was never mainstream OP flavor of the month used by the major streamers. )))
