When Chris says that lab haters are a minority, how right is he?
" I REALLY REALLY hope that u r right mate....:) It will be one of my happiest days ever:) "Too Wierd To Live... Too Rare To Die...."
Personal Motto Finally made it to lvl 100... Only took me 3 years...:) :( |

" Yeah, I was extremely surprised because that never happened before, we never had normal populated with level 60+ monsters, bosses overtuned by mistake or bugged abilities that can kill us with a scratch. Wish the armchair developers would go back to developing armchairs.

I was one of those that despised the lab. I think it is a good concept, the layouts look nice, and there is variety. I guess I never really understood what the point was. I completed normal for the first time yesterday and I have to say it was satisfying. I am just held back because of the time it takes to finish and because I am a filthy casual, if I die, I need to repeat the run. I think that the risk/reward is there, but I don't know if the time spent will be worth it.

I do the lab only to get the ascendancy points, won't ever try to farm it to get enchants.
It's just not right for this kind of game, at least it's how it feels to me. I bet most people , as me, would be happy if they just make ascendancy points unlocked at X lvls, and let people that actually enjoy the labrynth keep playing it, either for the enchants or whatever... |

Whenever I create a new character, I always feel somewhat of a chill. Because the lab has do be done at some point.
It feels frustrating getting all the trials done first (thanks God, only once per league now) and then heading into the labyrinth to run through nice and meh looking zones with lots of backtracking, skipping and "puzzling" through tramps. I really love izaro - just everything. Depending on all the daily "rolls" he has different mechanics and also some different abilities. You need to learn his attack patterns, unless you are able to sustain any incoming damage. That's really awesome, once you get it done, you are rewarded a lot. With 2 ascendancy points or the ascendancy class. And an enchantment but I don't like these low chance rolls a lot. After the first complete in each difficulty, I see no reason to do it again. As I said, enchantment rolls are too low for my taste. So what else? Potential loot? Nah. But it seems like the uber lab has some nice rewards, let's see. So overall, I can't say I like or I hate the labyrinth. The interior zones (chamber of sins tileset) doesn't look very good imo. And the progression through the zones is also very annoying due to golden doors and sometimes terribly long layouts. |

In all honesty, I think he's wrong, but I'll also hold my opinions and bets in reserve for now. It's only been one version since the Lab came out, and GGG is only just started to push the Lab hard as 'end game' and 'semi-mandatory'. Like a lot of people in the industry, I'll wait two or three patches and see if they keep pushing it, how many people leave Path because of the Lab-mandate. I doubt it'll go up because a lot of big names have basically said 'the Lab is bad, and the opposite of what I want from dungeon crawlers', and that's usually enough to ward new players away.
And for those of you going 'there's no way to know!' Steam Charts, ingame counters, and simply asking people. Three good ways to see how people react to content. And running a mandatory poll before you enter the game is a great way to get good feedback. Not that any company would do that anyway. |

I love POE, but i think lab should be optional.
With Ascendancy Points on the table, it's not optional. That's a problem if you don't like the lab. And I personally don't. Solutions? - Give more ways to conquer ascendacy points. - Make the lab shorter. By giving 2 more ascendancy points (with the end game labs), the problem is becoming bigger. Lab already has unique rewards (like enchantments). 8 ascendancy points is way too much... |
