Lab is probably the main reason driving me to play softcore instead of hardcore. Me playing sc means that Ill be playing this game a lot less than normal.

Mission accomplished.

damn right. same here
wtf complaining about lab being bad because you couldnt get the enchant you wanted?
your choice trying to get it, you knew the odds, you cant say the whole lab thing is bad because of you not getting "mandatory" enchants
Before I start I just want to say that all I'm doing here is stating my opinion so there is no need to troll or get angry if you do not agree. With that said I will move on to what I want to talk about.

I will do the end-game lab because I will think it is mandatory to do so. I will spend hours monotonously grinding maps and 6 other labs just so that I can do that end-game lab because I will think it is mandatory. Mandatory end-game content is not fun, it is tedious.

Personally, I find it very frustrating that GGG in this case is being completely stubborn and holding on to their silly creation even though a very vocal majority has said they do not like it. I am one of those that do not like the lab. Chris Wilson said on State of Exile that those that do not like the lab are a minority, but that simply is not true. There are a few straw polls that can prove that.

So here are my reasons for hating the lab:

1) I play softcore, I do not play hardcore, and therefore if the worst happens and I happen to die in the labyrinth why should I have to restart? It would be better if there were checkpoints, say, before each Izaro fight.

2) This is an ARPG. It's about killing endless hoards of monsters and collecting loot. It is not about Pitfall mechanics, puzzles, and slow-paced dodging of traps.

3) Dead ends. Enough said.

4) Map mods when there are events are included in the lab. The lab itself is challenging enough. There is no need for there to be Beyond mobs and boss guardians to make it more difficult.

5) There are not always forgotten reliquaries for the more difficult Izaro battles (Elementals and Idols specifically).

6) Enchants. Either make it so you have, say, three options to choose from or just remove them altogether because most of us do not want to have to grind labs just to get the right enchant.

And now to the things I do like. Really there is only one: Izaro. This is a really well-designed boss fight, and a heck of a lot of fun to play. It's too bad it's hidden behind the lab. It would be interesting if maybe there was a map with Izaro as the boss. Just a thought.

The one saving grace of all this is that completing the labs once means I never have to do them again, and that's a step in the right direction.
HOLD THE DOOR!!!
Here since Closed Beta. Never found a Mirror. Still love PoE. :- )

Enchantments suppose to be reward for completing labyrinth. I've been enjoying labyrinth runs most of the time but frustration caused by lack of reward when rolling useless enchantments all the time made me feel like running labyrinth is only waste of time compare to maps. That's why reward is important. Current reward is only business opportunity which doesn't suit everyone.
Couldn't help myself, wanted the numbers on this since the first iteration of the lab was released with Ascendancy, so here we go.
Assumptions made:
Each enchantment has the same probability to occur.
Applying one enchantment per run.

Chance to get the enchant you want after # runs:
50: ~7% (~13%)
100: ~13% (~24%)
250: ~30% (~50%)
500: ~50% (~75%)
1000: ~75% (~94%)

Numbers in brackets represent probability of getting either lvl66 or 75 enchantment in # runs.

PoE wiki (718 enchants total),

So yeah, I'll stick to my previous statement, I'll do "endgame" lab for the points and be done with it.
And even grinding merciless lab is tedious enough.
If I got a Dollar for every time PoE runs worse than Skyrim,
I could buy a rig that can run this pile of code smoothly.
Awesome, end game Labyrinth. Oh, locked behind mapping. Not interested. Was hoping this would be an alternative to mapping. Oh well, maybe next time.

I agree with you in most points and also think labyrinth can be fun with waypoints in there.
But i disagree in point 2: the traps teach you to move right. I think its a good training to keep walking in bossfights while fighting.
All the people saying they hate lab and don't want to be forced to do it etc can just pay someone to run them through one time to get their points, and then they can sell all the extra Lab Fragments for currency. Its a win/win so I don't understand the complaints.
