3) What is a "Xavathos" no matter how its spelled ? Its just a pretty good name honestly and far better than most. Don't throw out the bathwater with the baby its pretty tasty.

4) WHat does this have to do with the Lab anyway?

5) Lab still sucks, game as a whole is pretty good till the uber lab then it sucks too.

6) I'm done but I like to be symmetrical.

Oh I read it and saw I could have made an error in wording. The bathwater is tasty. I object to fully and do NOT endorse the eating of babies.

It would have been symmetrical after 5 as well, just split the 3 in half :)

I knew all along that you were secretly Izaro, posting under a pseudonym. I wrote all that "Zavathos" stuff to draw you out.

Yay me!

Now that you've been unmasked, I have a few questions.

1. What's it like to have a green goddess riding around on your shoulders all the time?
2. How do you brush your teeth in your, how shall I put this, "post-life state"?
3. What kind of music do you prefer? Dark and brooding? Hip hop? Medieval and celtic?

Now that prestige classes will finally leave lab in 4.0, will GGG get it right this time or will they find new ways to repeat old mistakes?

I don't care I am still not eating babies, even for the greater good.
Well, I've done about 10 or so Uber/Eternal Labyrinth runs since 3.0 launched over a period of time of a couple of weeks (never more than one a day), and, speaking personally, the Laby definitely does not feel as wretched as it once did. There are still improvements to be made, but first let me focus on what you did right:

1. Randomized certain rewards and their locations. For people who don't like to use poelab to "cheat" and turn the labyrinth into a non-labyrinth, these rewards make them feel less like chumps while they are exploring and seeking the exits.

2. Certain rewards have been improved. Notably, the rewards *during* the journey and not at the end of the journey. This makes the Labyrinth feel less like a beeline to a piñata and more like a process, like pretty much every other part of the game. (Almost no one quits a map after killing its boss, for example.)

What can GGG do now to further improve the Labyrinth? Well, I need to separate my suggestions into two categories, things I believe will benefit all players and things I believe will benefit only some players (because of the subjective nature of the respective issues).

Improvements for All Players:

1. Fully randomize the rewards and their locations, in order to further minimize the unfun activity of looking at reddit daily for good layouts. Also randomize Izaro's special powers, for the same reason. Then further balance those rewards, as necessary. (They can be better if they are harder to find and not guaranteed.)

2. Implement an area to which you can teleport (*inside* the lab) akin to Zana's room, in that it does not refill your flasks, but it does allow you to answer the door, answer the phone, attend a crying baby, or do any number of real-life tasks that come up. Remember that a sizeable portion of your audience is made up of adults, GGG.

Improvements for Some Players:

1. Adjust the traps and/or implement alternative routes which do not require navigating traps.

2. Add waypoints, so that the Labyrinth can be tackled in small chunks of time, like most of the rest of the game. (Again, this benefits adults the most.) A bind-on-account consumable key to get to the waypoint will make exploitation of this feature impossible, thereby preserving your vision of requiring a deathless run to attain Ascendancy.

3. Make the final enchantments less powerful (for balance reasons) in exchange for making the process of acquiring a useful enchantment for your gear less painful and RNG-dependent, via enchantment crystals (bind-on-account or tradeable--that's a different debate) or some method for choosing enchantment type. Or even make the power of the enchantment RNG-dependent but the enchantment itself chooseable. Whatever--you know you can improve on this somehow.

Good luck, GGG. You've done a lot of good work improving the most controversial content in your game, and I commend you for that. Now you just need to see the job through to its conclusion.
Wash your hands, Exile!

Lab simply sucks. Here is why:

1) Traps in isometric hack'n'slash (mouse movement only) are an idea that ony some sadist can come up with. So if lab gives stuff that you can't just ignore (powerful enchantments, ascendancy) there should be an alternative way to get them. So the best way is to just have build powerful enough to simply tank the traps.

2) If you can beat final Izaro, all the rest is just boring run through, but still takes time.

3) If you overestimate the power and fail the lab at some point, there should be at least possiblity for better loot. I see that silver chests are usually crap - all the better loot is in the final chamber. So make lab fun even if you fail in the middle.

GGG, is the simple logic not convincing you?

Fix proposal:

1) Random lab layout all the time
2) Better loot before the final chamber
3) Not only Izaro, but some randomized pool of bosses for each of 3 fights
4) weaker but tradable or easier rollable enchantments.

Most IMPORTANT: 5) Before start of the lab one can pick between two versions - traps lab and no traps lab with stronger bosses. So you can choose traps to weaken the bosses a bit.

Fnts7, nice ideas on how labyrinth might be improved. I've added you to the list of people that have shared a similar opinion now at 941 names long. Over 350 threads discussing labyrinth problems with over 940 posters in support

gibbousmoon, I ran over a dozen endgame trials and completed an uber lab. Labyrinth is loathsome content. You have presented some good ideas that I think would improve the loathsome labyrinth significantly. I've also added an "&" after your name in the list. :-)
Over 430 threads discussing labyrinth problems with over 1040 posters in support (thread # 1702621) Thank you all! GGG will implement a different method for ascension in PoE2. Retired!
The Lab has already (again) undergone recent changes that made runs far more worthwhile and easier. It's also easier to qualify to enter the Lab at all but Uber stages of the game.

It is now in a perfect balance between power/wealth gain, time spent and challenge.

It is not meant to have other things suggested here, such as waypoints or checkpoints and it is meant to have (dangerous) traps. It doesn't even matter if "ARPG X doesn't have traps" the Lab in PoE clearly does and for good reason. Even if they are the first, which they are not, it doesn't matter.

Bottom line is that it's optional content. Don't like it? Don't do it. Having trouble? Look up guides, ask for help from many players, like myself who run it daily, or build specifically to make it easy as a T1 map. (Regen)

Every now and then I feel like I should summarise the points made in defense of the Lab by many, many good folks over the course of this thread.

Oh, can I be on the list too? :D Maybe with a little skull next my name or something. I'll leave it to your imagination.

Stay sane, Exile.
