Overall im satisfied for the less boring, unfun, annoying, alienating and smelly gameplay (as is everyone even the pretentious white knights) but that was definitely not the change i would have chosen. Feels very cheap, cause while they know how problematic it is they again missed the chance to actually fix it once and for all by choosing a band-aid solution. Hopefully there are more changes coming for the future, changes that might even make the content what it should be : AN OPTIONAL FARMING AREA

The band-aid solution was really cheap to implement, I'm convinced is why they did it the way they did it. They just felt they had to do something. They only had little time and resource to apply to it.

I am pleased they made the first two labyrinths better. My honest view of the game now is that 3.0 is still not as good as PoE was prior to the Ascendancy release. Although it has been improved enough to be a better use of my gaming time than D3 now.

I agree that there are things that can be learned about life from gaming. I'm still a bit surprised some are trying to turn Lab into a self help seminar.

I find that life itself offers plenty of chances to learn about life. I don't feel the need to add to the pool of learning opportunities about life by making a leisure time activity into another character building exercise. When gaming, if what I'm doing really isn't fun, then I find another way to have fun.

For example, I pushed through normal and cruel lab when 3.0 hit to see if the experience was better after the changes than before 3.0 dropped. And, I found that abandoning lab runs featuring gameplay I find particularly annoying brought the experience within the realm of "I can tolerate this in small doses sometimes, maybe". I reached the Ossuary in A10, looked at the darts flying down corridors you apparently have to traverse, said "I'll play an ARPG instead, fuck this fucking platform shit", and haven't bothered with any Merc lab trial since.

As alien as I find the approach to be, I wouldn't say it's wrong for those who want to persevere through gaming experiences they find disappointing or annoying. To each their own. I would say it's not very humble to suggest to others that's how they should approach gaming, if that's what's being done here.

PS: Perhaps GGG should arrange for Tony Robbins seminars in lab, if teaching us about life is one of their goals. Tony is a pretty famous guy and lab does sometimes feature walking over hot surfaces, so it might be a good match.

Well they require time sinks between fights to artificially make this game seem longer. They could replace the lab with that.

And that's your view, which is entirely valid, for you. Now the Lab was created from a different view. One that others agree with. It is up to you, life lesson or not, to adapt or not. And by not adapting, I don't mean writing endlessly long posts regarding your discontent, I mean you just "live with it" and move on. Not everything in life was created for you and not everything has to adapt to your wishes.

I can live with a broken radiator in the winter, but I still want the radicator fixed. Does that answer your question.

You know you can live with somethng, but we can at same time comment, critizsed, & ask if it be improve right?

Of course, I'd want my radiator fixed too. But this isn't a broken radiator, buddy. This is a radiator that's working perfectly fine, but it's not hot enough for you. THAT is an entirely different scenario. And don't tell me it's not true, because if it wasn't, we wouldn't have 700 pages of back and forth discussions here. Everyone would agree in unity that it's broken and should be fixed. Do you see that? Of course not, because it's not broken. You want it hotter, we get that, but some of us don't, and that's why we're here.

Does that answer your question?

If my radiator isn't working well and the mechanic says it can't be fixed because the manufacturer says it's a learning moment I am buying a new car from a different car company.

I suspect they will be focused on the xbox for a while so I don't think anything will change for a year or 2.

At least put in the effort to try to comprehend what was written by both of us, come on. This doesn't even warrant an acknowledgement.

This was about the charge changes, and honestly why the fuck they caved in on that is beyond comprehension

I like to think they caved in because I said it's bad.

Anyway, the lab tests your judgement, composure, reflexes, build, wallet or whatever to grant you ascendancy points and provides an opportunity for lucrative farming, works as advertised.

Here's some food for thought, generally speaking: If the Lab wasn't a challenge somehow, be it by mobs, bosses, traps, length, layout, lack of checkpoints, disconnects, keys, backtracking or whatever, you wouldn't be here complaining about it, would you? Don't you see? The 700 pages of complaints written here has been proving the massive success of the Lab this entire time.

That got a real LOL from me!

BTW, the issue is that the labyrinth is bad not fun content. If there would checkpoints it would make it less frustrating. That's primarily because it is very upsetting when I'm in the lab and my phone rings or the doorbell rings or someone asks for a trade. Back tracking through traps just doubles the not fun content. Lab is a dismal failure in my opinion. Like I just said, while the game is now better than D3 it is still not as good as before release of the labyrinth.

Ah, yes, patience! I forgot the most important one.
Wish the armchair developers would go back to developing armchairs.

This is my belief as well; it would make good sense for GGG to keep their attention on their newer content and the Xbox release for a while.

But, if the Xbox release starts to show signs of problems with player retention and even anecdotally lab is seen as part of why, then the timetable for taking another look at lab might be quickly moved up.
Now that prestige classes will finally leave lab in 4.0, will GGG get it right this time or will they find new ways to repeat old mistakes?
