And yet for many people it is a reasonable comparison. A pre-release review of Ascendancy was the first that compared labyrinth game play to Prince of Persia. The link to the review and the quote out of the review is linked in the OP. "The Labyrinth leans heavily on the new traps, with complicated patterns that remind me as much of Prince of Persia: Sands of Time"

I play a roguelike called darkest dungeon. Its so hard. But I expect and enjoy the roguelike part of that game. That is the fun of the game. Path of Exile should avoid this and stick to what it does right. Killing monsters and getting loot. Not dodging traps or out regenerating traps or teleporting past traps or however you cheese the traps. Traps do not belong. Remove them


Some traps are fine. Just don't remove the monsters! Killing monsters and getting loot is what PoE is about, not dodging screens full of traps with no monsters. No need to remove the traps, just don't remove the monsters!! If there are no monsters then guess what? You can't kill monsters and get loot. Duh! If there are screens full of traps then it means that there are no monsters and no loot. It means that we're being forced to play a different style game play, a Prince of Persia, Frogger, or Mario style game play.

So decided to give PoE another chance with the new league and all was fun until i needed to start getting lab/asc points done did one ascension/lab and all the yucky lab memories sprung back to my head.

Atleast it only took one day wasted to re verify that this game is not for me anymore.
^^^ Yeah, the realization that it's all still the same, with no available options will hi me eventually too. Until then, going to HC it as a vanilla marauder until I either a) rip or b) quit.

+1 to emphasize to the incorrect people saying that there's only a handful of people that don't enjoy screens full of traps. PoE is about killing monsters and getting loot. It's not about dodging screens full of traps. Do not remove monsters from the game and make us run through screens full of traps. Not only is it not fun for many people, it's so boring, irritating, and tedious that people stop playing PoE because horrible game play has infiltrated our game. Free the ascendancy points from the horrible game play. Make PoE great again.

I'm sincerely pleased that you feel that PoE is still great. Unfortunately that is not the case for many others.

Hardcore league will likely once again be the probable "canary" for the state of PoE player base.

If a few screens "full of traps" (drama intensifies) ruin everything else this game has to offer, then you probably weren't having much fun before, Lab or no Lab.

I always hated the trade-centric design that permeates everything in PoE, not just one side zone. Still, the game has many other good aspects, that help to overcome some shitty design.

GLHF finding a better arpg right now... (GD comes close, but PoE still leads, imo)
