Though the main points remain, how can you accept something so important being locked behind something considered "optional" and its so different from the rest of the game that infuriates so many people, leading to so many negative feedback.

Not going to argue if the lab is good or not , I personally don't like it and that's it .

Labyrinth is a good addition to the game. The traps look amazing and the overall ambience hits it at right spot. But there are so many things in it that i hate knowing that it will be a permanent feature of the game.
-Challenge? Is there really? When numerous posters proudly paraded their enchantment collections and run times like lab is nothing. Where is balance when you need an SSD and near perfect connection to even compete for the leadeboards. It is not even an option for me to think about participating in it. -Inequality with builds. I envy those who made a life based build in this league. Even if one can make an ES based build with uber shield regen, nothing can beat an instant flask with traps. Even Chris admitted it has to be dealt with when the league ends. Not everyone is a master builder here. New players might fancy an ES build without knowing its consequences. - Traps is ok if only you can see the whole sequence until you reach a safe spot. When the room bends, traps laid is too long, coupled with dark rooms and insufficient zoom out features, it becomes a leap of faith with flask spamming. I get it, you need to make quick decision with your movement skills but on to my next point. - Lag / DC. This is the hardest trap in labyrinth. Even when I paid for a carry, a full party cannot keep up with different loading times when one got lost and got killed in traps while lagging and the other just DC. GGG saw this as a potential problem, but went on with a death kick back to Sarn. Yes keep it like it is but make improvements on this points and it will become tolerable even for those who hate it like I do. You can ignore it after ascending, but make the experience for your players zero-doubt free about the design itself so they cant make valid points why this has to exist in the first place. My personal reasons for hating it? I suck at games like this. Is it a l2p issue? Maybe? But after giving it a chance to be liked, i really ended up not being challenged, excited, motivated or even cared about progressing against traps. Enchantments as reward? Its good, i bought one fitting for my elementalist minus the hassle of running lab. The seller was happy I am happy but GGG has to stop threshing out devisive contents like labyrinth because unlike Atziri, it is foolish not to ascend. If a player hates it, not everyone will have the patience or resolve to accept it like i did and just quit. |

To be fair, if Ascendency points were divorced from the Lab (i.e. you could get the points OUTSIDE of the lab), very few people would even run the lab.
Personally if Ascendancy points were available elsewhere, then I would run the lab less than 10 times: bascially until i got decent glove and boot enchants (helm is total crapshoot lottery nonsense). All of the ideas of separating A-points from lab are just a pipe dream. I'm sure a large chunk of players that currently run the lab wouldn't bother at all if all you could get from there were some enchantments. |

Going somewhat off topic: labyrinth's variance (even if predictable if farmed enough) has a giant potential to be used elsewhere. Imagine using that technology in another dungeon, or a whole act.

I like the lab. It needs some small small (and some big) tweaks, but overall its a good meta concept for the game.
