Quitting PoE after years due to Labyrinth System

Its not specifically leveling the masters that is being skipped its the lost opportunity by not leveling them, especially in temp leagues, which I dont know if you play or not (probably not) For a standard player it really doesn't make a difference if you level them or not because the market is already saturated with many items with or without mods in all sorts of price ranges for all sorts of builds.

This is true, but the thing that follows, is PoE then more appealing to work around with, imo. Almost endless amounts of chars to create in such game as this. Loving it, tbh, gives more free hands to explore interesting stuff. Some temp leagues I play, some I do not. Depends on things in it, compared to std. Talisman league for example, I did run, and loved it. Some others too, but have skipped some also. Depends on content.

I mean following the similar logic don't you have characters you have to kill dominus with again and then kill voll and get to mines 2 in EACH difficulty to get the additional skill point?

"Slightly" different time needed for these things... the other one of these things for some is possible, other is not.

Why must they all ascend at once, you can't possibly even give them enough attention to ascend more then a handful of them. I think a lot of standard players are offset by this because they look at the big picture instead of eating bit by bit. Yes the servers have had issues but you can't be like "im done with this game just make it easy one me" that isn't an answer and honestly that shouldn't be behavior from a player that seems like they are at least somewhat experienced.

Overall, is very limiting feature in this game for many. And pretty much first feature that actually DOES limit a lot. You are misunderstanding me a bit here, I also love this game being challenging, no need to make content easier, in a way. But I think would be better, if core features would be more accessible.

Disappointment comes from not being to able to explore much of what was included, in any kind of reasonable timeframe. Not my ultimate goal to use my chars all at once, rather was just excited to be able to work with a lot of new stuff, wich is now not the case at all. Now will take ages to see new stuff and this means, I will miss most of it. So not happy by this "bit-by-bit" thing at all.

Because malachai is a fucking joke, he technically is a higher level then the lab boss, but nothing going up to him is even a challenge except maybe act 4 piety depending on your build. Not only that this removes the challenge of the traps, the mechanics of the labs and introduces the ability to cheese to get the ascendancy points. Its simply not an acceptable solution.

Act 4 bosses all joke, and not really anything I aim for anyways. All my chars could eat those for breakfast, as I assume all chars do above lvl 80 or some... was not the point. If points more easy to get hands on, would just make this new stuff more accessible. Removes challenge? Which trap do You think would be affected the most, if points were rewarded from something else? How would mechanic of lab even change, other than having only 1 reward, instead of 2? Or is it lab boss that gets the biggest nerf with some odd mechanic, like this? Anyways this "challenge" aspect I consider ridiculous, since a child would understand the mechanics, only need time, and lots of it. This is not about me not being able to do it.

"
You aren't forced to run thru the lab to do anything else in the game, you can get all the way to level 100 without it, as GGG didn't increase the difficulty of the mobs in conjunction with ascendancy. You only feel like you are forced because you want the cool perks, well thats great and everything but I don't get a 6 link without putting fusings or currency on buying one, similarly you don't get the points without doing the lab.

This true, can get to lvl 100 on act 1 normal, even... All else is optional, if lvl 100 is only goal. Is not mine goal, doubt many others have this as their goal either. Goal for me is just to have fun while trying to create a good char, and exploring stuff in this game, simple as that. This was now ruined for those bit more casual players. And comparing this to getting 6L..? Just... no, not the same. Remotely same, if after masters were introduced, crafting bench would now be the only possibility to affect sockets. Or if would now only be possible to get other orbs than transmutes and augs, from masters after daily missions. Then masters would be equally "optional". Would also had made this harder, so automatically better with same logic?
they should eliminate stupid maps with bunch of traps knowing that desync still an issue in this game. You can also finish the map without killing argus. labyrinth should be less map and more boss to encounter.

i dont understand what people hate so much about the lab, besides the clearly unbalanced bosses. Its fun to you know... think for a few seconds while playing.

one thing that bothers me about this whole game and genra is how mindlessly it can be played, depending on your build and play style, yes.

So, you suggest fixing broken aspects of PoE by changing part of the game into a platformer style test of (player) manual dexterity, which is another type of game entirely? I guess my question is, why are you playing PoE at all then? Would you like a chess minigame in an FPS before you can blow up a bunker so that it will be more thoughtful game? I am all for making the game difficult but fair using the existing game mechanics, but adding puzzle stuff is just a lazy way to force a shift in character priorities.
platform game? exagerating much? have you played it? the 'platform' content is miniscule compared to entire lab length

and it has a nice effect of teaching players movement techniques - the same that good players use while clearing maps. efficient flask usage, efficient movement skill usage, pattern recognition - you know, the same stuff used when clearing maps

just saying that i case you have not tried that (or not tried to do it EFFICIENTLY - because anyone can do this lab, thousands of new players are doing it right now)

you guys are making a big fuss over something that is not really a problem (you give it names that make it a problem - mario platform puzzle game) - it is a series of small simple maps full of monsters

people 'hate' it because their old tricks (the only ones they have) are not enough to clear it and/or they do not understand that this lab is for speed farming for experienced players - people that do not enjoy it are to do it 3 times per characters and never enter it again

people quitting over it.. yeah righ

Since it goes from action to Flappy Bird, yes, it's a fucking problem.
[s]only mindless sheep think labyrinth is OK to have in PoE.[/s]
okay nevermind labyrinth, fix dx9 blackscreen instead...

Surely many "good" players use their movement skills in very different way in traps, and while mapping. And if not, I'd really think again this "good" player - part. Clear differences in there, I'd say. Efficient flask usage people do learn anyways, no need for this kind of s**t for it. Pattern recognition..? Needed while clearing maps..? For what? If meaning boss fights (those actually have patterns), the boss fights do teach the need-to-know patterns already, why would need lab to this? I cannot come up with even 1 boss fight, or map clearing - related thing I could possibly learn from these traps... can give some example maybe? I really cannot think of something similiar in mapping/bosses or any other content at all, in this game.

The hate people have on this, is also related to other issues, than not getting it, or somehow too hard. As is the case for me for example. If (=when) will get dc'd or lagged to death during lab, that's it for the day, then cannot complete, since cannot spend so much time on this.

3 times per char means for me, some 2 weeks to do those labs with my chars, even more since will aurely get many dc anyways there. So yeah, some actually DO quit, since this made gaming hours not enjoyable with this game. There IS a line between challenging and frustrating, is thin, but it's there. This patch was a bit on the wrong side, for many.

And this new stuff not optional in a way... Cannot reach very good char without those points, so kinda destroys the point to even try make a good char. Since will then miss a lot. If this is for the player the challenge this game has, kinda ruins all if not doing those labs.

Not perhaps quitting, will surely check up on this game later again, since has been great. But surely will use some other game instead for entertainment for now, since this atm, is not.
@GGG you know you made a great game when you can make grown men shed tears like wildfire over an update.

Keep the laughs coming boys! "Remove the labyrinth or I quit!!!" aka "I'm too lazy to learn how to do anything new because it's actually hard"

It's like everyone forgot what the expansion was about and just realized it now.. Has everyone been hibernating or just upset that the ascendancy points weren't handed to them on a silver platter?

I'm looking forward to harder content like this from GGG, especially bosses like this. Suck it up and grind it out like everyone else. The rewards are clearly worth the effort.

Haven't played any Labyrinth stuff, don't think I ever will.

I played through the first trial in normal, and it brought to mind memories of childhood days playing the NES with my kid brother in the 1980's.

"Can I have a go?"

"Yea sure in a minute bro..."

And like an hour later I'd get to the tedious moving platform level, or the trap and lever level, and then finally I'd hand him the controller, grab my BMX and Sony Cassette Walkman and ride to the park listening to Metallica.

I got to the ascendancy trial, took one look at the circular-saw blades on rails and the spikes coming up out of the floor and grabbed my metaphorical BMX.

Been there, done that, bought the day-glo Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles t-shirt. Didn't like it a quarter of a century ago, don't like it now.

So I'm just not going to do it. I don't even care about ascendancy point, I don't need them. I've transcended ascendancy. They're like a bunch of other stuff in this game that you think you need but you really don't. I'm just going to play without it.

That said, I can see why some people might feel inclined to ride into the sunset, and it's sad, because the root cause is something that was always hackneyed, cliché, lazy game design, and always shit.

Very well said sir.

We are not asking to remove the lab the lab can stay as it is. Just make a standalone fight with Izaro where he awards nothing more than 2 AC points, he does not give experience, doesnt drop loot and you cannot party to kill him, its totally un-exploitable. Make the fight even harder. But dont force so many people to run an arcade game for something so important as character customization.

I have to agree, this lab thing made me lose almost 100% of the interest in the game.

I did the ascendant thing with 4 chars and I just wanted to stick forks in my eyes after it.

Today I was going to make it on the last character and I just quited on the cruel lab.

Too long, too boring, I just want my freaking points nothing else. -_-
