Quitting PoE after years due to Labyrinth System

Haven't played any Labyrinth stuff, don't think I ever will.

I played through the first trial in normal, and it brought to mind memories of childhood days playing the NES with my kid brother in the 1980's.

"Can I have a go?"

"Yea sure in a minute bro..."

And like an hour later I'd get to the tedious moving platform level, or the trap and lever level, and then finally I'd hand him the controller, grab my BMX and Sony Cassette Walkman and ride to the park listening to Metallica.

I got to the ascendancy trial, took one look at the circular-saw blades on rails and the spikes coming up out of the floor and grabbed my metaphorical BMX.

Been there, done that, bought the day-glo Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles t-shirt. Didn't like it a quarter of a century ago, don't like it now.

So I'm just not going to do it. I don't even care about ascendancy point, I don't need them. I've transcended ascendancy. They're like a bunch of other stuff in this game that you think you need but you really don't. I'm just going to play without it.

That said, I can see why some people might feel inclined to ride into the sunset, and it's sad, because the root cause is something that was always hackneyed, cliché, lazy game design, and always shit.

Slow clap for you, lol. One of the best posts I've read.

I still feel like, the way that I theorycraft and think about this game, ascendancy is mandatory for me (if I hadn't quit the game, that is).
Yeah add me to the group who is confused about the addition of labyrinth.

I came back after a break to see this new expansion. Pendarus mobs were interesting, the trial side areas were just boring things I zapped through because there wasn't anything to do in them apart from touch the stone at the end.

Then I had a crack at labyrinth. First time I wandered as much as I could to see if there were any hidden areas or cool loot. I found the key areas and went finding the keys. The loot wasn't worth anything and I realised I spent near an hour running around trying to find secrets.

Then I died. I was forced to do the whole thing from scratch which I thought was a bit dumb. Then I read up on it a bit and realised there weren't really any worthwhile rewards for running around doing side area things.

Then I came to the understanding that running labyrinth like GGG intended is pointless and time consuming. Just run through everything and get the ascendancy points. It's still a weird waste of time and I don't get it but its not a deal breaker. Just... silly.

This is what I don't get. Maybe it's because I find navigating Zelda-esque traps to be fun ... but I don't see it as a waste of time at all. I've found some pretty cool drops in there, and had fun running through it.

What isn't fun is lagging out on Izaro and having no idea what could be done any better ... but the lab itself I really enjoy.

I loved zelda even the goron mines in the last one I played (its been a while). You got something at the end of that though. Story progression or some cool item I cant remember. This game isn't zelda. After you get the points it would be a waste of time to go after loot as you could just run some maps and buy whatever loot while leveling and getting currency.

Just seems really odd.

You receive Ascendancy class for the first time you complete the Labyrinth.
You receive additional Asc.points 2 times you complete the Labyrinth.

And then you receive enchantments each time you complete the Labyrinth again.
You always get something at the end. Just like in LoZ.
Remember, suffering is convenient.
That is why many people prefer it.
Happiness requires effort.
i dont know why so many people are complaining about this shitty labyrinth!?

PICK 5 LIFE FLASKS! PICK A STONE GOLEM! WIN THE LABYRINTH!

If youre damage is not enough then u definetly have a shitty build, thats it.

I would wonder more about GGG releasing a fully bugged expansion with like Diablo 3 style gold coins.

A fckin RNG Cadiro who ruins every single unique price which some people were grinding for to make profit.

And the worst thing is. GGG doesnt post anything in their own forums or even respond to all that crazy shitload that rained the last days.

Many Supporters quitted because severeal reasons I said before, and this labyrinth as well.

Imho the worst expansion ever made, just my thoughts. And I was grinding every day like 8 hours enjoying it before Ascendancy came thats said.

GGG QoL Feature of the Year! SKILLTREE AND FRIENDS SEARCH!

You dont seem to get my point. This game isnt zelda. It doesnt make sense for this weird trap mini game to be there. Ill do it to get the ascendancy points sure but its a really weird way to go about progression in a hack n slash.
I really hope GGG when they read or go over some of these posts don't change the game based on what I am seeing. I am sorry if some of you don't like the game or think somehow your buying a supporter pack gives you some special opinion. I hope if it gets serious they make a little ballot to vote on issues with a yes or no check box so all of us can have a say in it. From some of the posts i see it looks pretty sad. I happen to like the game and all these changes they are always making. I am not bored. I usually don't spend time reading these posts that get started but happened to see this looking for more info on buffs in the Labyrinth. I am going back to having fun and playing the game. Take care.
