Quitting PoE after years due to Labyrinth System

I think some features of the lab should actually be part of some of the maps ;)

Only thing I dislike is the unfairness for ES/hybrid toons. Traps should actually prevent you from using pots for a few secs. :p
I've always been a softcore player, so is it weird to really enjoy the labyrinth? It seems like the perfect balance between HC and SC. I can't stand the idea of losing a character I've put a lot of effort into, but there's still way more incentive not to die in the labyrinth. Izaro is a fun fight.

Would like a labyrinth experience that was more focused on fighting rather than trap dodging, though.
IMO if labs make little shorter and trap, monsters, boss damage nerf (lesser dmg) then we would lost less players and see less post like that:

I have to agree, this lab thing made me lose almost 100% of the interest in the game.

I did the ascendant thing with 4 chars and I just wanted to stick forks in my eyes after it.

Today I was going to make it on the last character and I just quited on the cruel lab.

Too long, too boring, I just want my freaking points nothing else. -_-

I suppose I am in the minority here. I think the traps do add a little bit of Zelda charm, I enjoy looking for the keys, secrets and chests. The fact that it resets when you die is really annoying but I understand the reasoning, when the objective is an 'ascendancy'. Argus and optional keys are great additions and add a richness to the experience. The part I'm confused about is the varying difficulty. I completed cruel lab and achieved my ascendancy points, unlocked fortify buff, cleared most of merciless, leveled a bunch and invested heavily into damage and defense. With my damage reduction from fortify, merciless is no problem for me, and I'm not even a high level character. However, I returned to cruel lab to try and gain an extra buff for a piece of equipment and just generally try and enjoy it.
What a surprise, what happened to the difficulty level? I ate it at the second incarnation of Izaro and it was not only a different fight than the first time but it was about 8 times harder. I have max res but was suffering 2/3rds life loss with one hit. So, I have damage reduction, extra levels, better gear, buffs, higher life and suddenly the fight is harder instead of easier? Color me confused. Is the lab taking measurements of my stats before I enter and adjusting itself?
When you have players that spend hours and hours honing their character, they expect a level of ability when passing through an area that has already been completed. If the monster level reflects 55, why is Izaro weighted at some higher tier?
Like another person has said: it's obvious that GGG was frustrated by the fact people were accessing end level content and wanted to throw in something that punishes you. Why are you punishing paying customers for playing a video game in their free time? Like another, very intelligent person stated: a video game is about entertainment, yes, but their is a fine line between tedium and challenge. I understand many want to worship some 'hardcore' aspect of the game, but I feel that aspect is developed enough without the lab. Before the fanboys go getting all worked up, keep in mind: if you are looking for a hardcore and painful experience, why do you seek it in a video game (which is not supposed to be punishment) instead of wearing a ball gag and getting whipped by someone?
I'm quitting as well because of Lab.

Had a blast playing. I love trying to destroying maps as fast a possible and researching builds and gear choices. But I'm done.

The Lab has totally ruined all fun for me in the game.

Call me salty, call it optional, call me w/e you want. I'm out.

Peace!! & Happy Hunting.

No, you didn't play since BETA. You've sucked since BETA.

Come back when you've all cried out. It's a game and you left it because you can't handle the labyrinth!? You fail.

You are being rude and obnoxious.
Over 430 threads discussing labyrinth problems with over 1040 posters in support (thread # 1702621) Thank you all! GGG will implement a different method for ascension in PoE2. Retired!
Where are the mods when one of their white knights insults someone? I've been warned several times and had posts removed and edited just for being antagonistic, and not even directly insulting like this **** (self edit) was.
Quoting Saltychipmunk:
...I look at the new act 5 boss where you have to hide behind the statues to survive the bullet hell and all I can think is... how the fuck are zombies going to survive that?

They don't know what hiding is... they don't know what dodging is... they are morons.

I don't care what the white knights will be saying, I'm totally on OP's side.

First, I also don't see how the lab fits to the style of the game, but it's a matter of one's own preferences, I don't care.
The problem is, that the biggest part of the expansion (or to say better, the most anticipated) is locked behind it.

Why is that a problem? Because it doesn't have any checkpoint. And it's too long (and for me, also boring)

To be honest, I HATE all the people who say "if you don't work hard for the points, you shouldn't get them", or "everyone is QQing". No. Not everyone is a nolife geek, some casual players just want to have fun. Some people play the game after a long busy day, the last they want is to work their ass off before the screen (I mean now that it is time-consuming, and that there is no checkpoint is the worst). Also, there are a lot of players, who get DC-s ALL THE TIME. With normal SC content this is not a big problem (although sad), and these people don't give a fuck about HC. But forcing a semi-hardcore mechanic to these people is just a fucked up decision.

Futhermore, don't say it is not optional. Yes, of course, it is optional in the way that you can progress with the storyline without it. Maybe also do some maps. But if you wanna be competitive / do content later, you have to get the ascendency points. And by "do content later", I mean the next patches, which are very likely going to be a lot harder, because the "new standard" will be those with asc.points. So the new points are, or will be calculated into the game difficulty.

I think I'll also stop playing for a while

(PS.: I like the idea a lot from a previous poster, to have Izaro as a hard, no-party boss with asc.point as reward, but without the Lab. The should be then only a good farm/leveling zone.)

A genuine thank you for beeing the first person (i see) calling it Zelda-like and not something totally unfitting like Mario/Prince of Persia/Tomb Raider (we can't leap slam into pits to instantly die after all) :)

It's not punishment, it's a challenge.
If it's no challenge, it's not engaging and no fun to overcome it..

Getting a ball gag and the whip is just more passiveity while waiting for appreciation.
Almost a little like facerolling through content constantly while waiting for that lucky drop that tells you "you did good today" (only imo of course)...
