The scion got the opportunity to have a second starting zone. It will obviously drive people to make new build.
On the other side, the other classes will mainly strengthen what they already have.

The word useless doesn't have its place in the process.

If you want it to apply more generally, you need to play the Witch Elementalist that has a 20% chance of activating in on any kill, not the Scion's bastard version of it that provides it 100% of the time upon killing the rarest enemies in the game.

My experience is that by the time rare and unique enemies die, just about every other enemy in the vicinity is already dead, so I have a hard time seeing what's so great about the Scion's Elementalist specialization. Yes, 5% elemental penetration, taking 4% less elemental damage, and 30% increased damage if you use the right type of golem is useful, of course, but it is hardly something game-changing and considering the opportunity cost it looks rather terrible to me.

I know. If you want to play an attack build with a witch, the original witch node is better (all the orignal notes are better). I just don't think playing an attack based witch is viable (unless you go CI)

My point was it's wrong to call the nodes useless in comparison to all the original ones.

Like I said, in most cases the Scion is second best compared to the other classes and their specialisation. But there are definitely some very interesting builds one can do as a scion.

I still plan to go crit firestorm witch for the new season though.

I don't get the hating on ZiggyD. How many of us have Youtube channels and regularly create content? Streaming gameplay is one thing, but content creation is another. I mean, everyone is entitled to their own personal preferences... there are many YouTubers whose tutorials I enjoy but whose personalities I find insufferable. I am not aware of any big metadata undertakings that might suggest one YouTuber contributes more or generates more income or donations or attention or whatever for whatever companies with whom they are affiliated, but keep in mind that the big YouTubers and content creators are more or less independent and self-employed -- they are wheeling and dealing like publicists, marketing teams, and agents as well as simply producing content essentially for no guaranteed pay. There is a lot that goes on in "new media" and in entertainment than is not obvious to the conventional viewer.

As for ZiggyD as a content creator and POE player, personally, I like him. He is newbie-friendly, all-ages friendly, accessible, and many of his videos are to the point. I do not think this Scion Ascendant video was a very good one, and it lacked Ziggy's typical more in-depth explanations and theories, so I do agree that on the content point itself, this was the weakest Ascendancy Class Reveal. But leave out the hating on ZiggyD, folks. It's unproductive, immature, and off topic. If you wanna talk about how you'd have created the video differently, go right ahead, but just hating on ZiggyD cuz he got to be the one to release the video is just bratty bitching. Grow up and get over yourself. I admit I'm pretty cynical myself, but so many of these comments read like plain old trolling.

But yeah, static pictures woulda been nice, ZiggyD. Even though it's all made it to the wiki for our reading pleasure, it'd have been nice.

I never was able to decide whether i love or hate Scion. It was undefined for me as a class, never could figure her out, but she gave me diversity and flexibility. I decided i would love her
and hate her at the same time. I guess now I'll love her and hate her more than ever.
There will be two kinds of players now - those who play different classes builds, and those
who will play Scion builds, since variety of Scion builds now is just amazing.
I'm not really sure how this will affect the game and community, if Scion will become uber class,
but in twenty years of PC gaming, I've never came across a game that had so much stuff never before
seen in any other. Remember when you saw that skill tree for the first time? What are those?!

I'll stay away from Scion for now, and go for Marauder or Templar. Maybe later..

Do you need just 2-10 more passives to make your build optimal? Is it too hard for you to decide what char to play because of beginning point/ascendancy classes? Is it more efficient for your build to have fraction of ascendancy skills of specific chars traded for few more passives? Or do you need more jewel sockets? Then there is scion for you! Have everything while excel in nothing!

Great idea, perfectly fitting scion (everything but in every specialisation overperformed by specialised class) and opening soooo many options with dual start points! I already have several builds prepared for ascendancy, none of them will be better with scion even with itsgreat options as they fully utilise their characted ascendancy classes, but there is sooooooo many interesting options to make a great builds with scion. Great job GGG this class is awesome! As is whole ascendancy expansion (although i hope it wont be so desynchronised for me as current game often is...)

you aren't discouraged to do so... there is free full respec so everytime you can try something else or enhance current build with your current characters' ascendancy classes...

its far from being inferior, just not so specialised, which is good for many builds. Definitely not inferior, nor overpowered.

Why not to be indifferent and maybe try to build something around it? Hating it brings you nowhere, loving it... well, also nowhere :D Diversity is great for some situation, specialisation to other.
As to ammount of stuff in game, i can point you to a game that have like 1000x more content, possibilities and complexity than PoE. Truth is that PoE is still amongs the most complex games.
