[ Suggestion ] Path of Exile - Frontier
" For the first idea, I think the central concern is already something you addressed: difficult as shit to program, and probably not worth the time investment given that each skill would have to get modified separately and balanced in accordance with all the various possible permutations. That's why in my similar idea, of a flask-like buff to the skill, I kept it restricted to only one possible outcome that sits on a cooldown. If you were thinking on the same line, that each skill gets its own permutation and only one, which I imagine is what you were thinking, then it's better but when you're alternating the fundamentals of how a skill behaves it's not only a bitch to program but it's even worse to balance. Which is why in the examples I provided on my variation, the adjustments were kept in line with things the skill already does. It's a good idea but just not technically (and thus financially) feasible. I like your second idea better though centrally on one premise: you see builds like SRS that get the crafted 7L with Blood Magic, but basically any 1h build doesn't get that benefit, outside of unique items. So anything that can give 1h builds a 7L makes me happy. The issue of course is that 7L builds get 8Ls. :P More work to be done I think. That's the danger of trying to really change the way game mechanics work, it's pretty difficult to prevent it from power creeping all over the place. I'll keep thinking on it and try come back to the table with something that isn't ridiculous. Like this stupid brief idea I nixed:
Spoiler
Transfer implicits! Like take a 20% rarity amulet and put it on the chestpiece, but immediate corruption so it can't be modified ever again (evar).
But then that'd just be diamond items all over the place. I don't think this one would be too game breaking though: Essence Orb that applies to skill gems only: removes corruption and any corruption effects. So let's say you have a 20/20 Flameblast, and your corrupt bricks it to 20/10%. You could Essence it, remove the corruption so it's 20/20 again and get another crack at your vaal. Upon using the orb, the skill gem gets an "Essence Sap" tag that prevents that particular skill gem from getting Essence'd again. Gems are pretty cheap as it is nowadays, I don't see a reason to NOT make them easier to get 21/20s. A single gem level isn't particularly game-breaking for any setup, it's just min-maxing. These are some great ideas!
But I would say allowing to use the only portal multiple times would be too generous. Maybe at least in HC making these instances the single portal area would make it more ...Adrenaline providing. Since you won't be able to log/alt+F4 or you lose the map. Having some kind of quests, puzzles or progression points or other stuff in these maps is kinda neat. But since it will be done many times it shouldn't become pain to do it again and again. So it should be some kind of short quest. Possibly involving Zana and her yet unrevealed friends from the lore ^^ Also Dominant and Essence orbs are too op, Dominant orb is basically divine orb except always giving upgrade as a result. So you would want to use it on and on until all mods get to top tier. It would be worth 50x exalts or more I would imagine (or maybe I didn't understand exactly how it works). Essence orb is interesting in a way that you could color your gems according to gear, so you'll be able to use belly of the beast on a 5 blue caster build. It's interesting but if it just randomly colors the gem (so it's 33% for each color), I think it should be really rare. Not many people would use it. Skills look interesting, not sure how bounce would work. Keystones look like something I would wanna try! Overall pretty good ideas ^^ "What's do you what?" - Kira of the Maraketh

Extremely well put together mate!
I haven't had a chance to read it all quite yet, but I wanted to say job well done, you've obviously put a lot of thought and effort into this. I wish you all the best in your endeavor to push this through as a viable suggestion. If we see something like this in the game in the future, we'll know where GGG got the idea from. |

" What is your opinion of the map affix system currently? Do you feel it is healthy and well-balanced? I don't. You don't ? Why ? Even if perhaps a good idea long-term, the Glyph idea would be terrible now. I'm not in a hurry. That's bad, because people want to use currency, and are already flustered by having it feel suboptimal too often. Really ? So here's something you might haven't noticed about my idea... You can socket Rare Maps. So basically, if you socket a rippy map, the glyph will chose 2 random mods from the rippy map you've just socketed in. So the glyph understands that you WANT those rippy mods there, right ? You can re-roll your maps before adding them to the glyph. So you won't have 12 rippy mods. That's a bit of currency sinking if you may ask. Dominant orb ? 3 of them + 1 real + 1 ex from a normal to rare item. Senseless Hatred ? forcing things to be Corrupted for no reason ? Skill-specific Keystones are a bad idea, further tying skills to a tree location ? Where you took that from ? People like you is what makes everyone give up of trying to add ideas to this game. Being their good, or not. I'm glad you gave your feedback. But please, don't you ever judge anyone. I feel that the orb crafting system IS unrewarding. And then, i suggested something to make it different. That's all. I'm not a Dev. YOU ARE NOT a Dev. I'm glad you can see how it would damage the game, and to be honest, i'll use this kind of information for my next suggestions, but when people like you can't have the minimum of empathy towards someone who wants to do something to the community this really pisses me off. And it is not even because it's "MY" suggestion or anything, in fact, almost 70% of the suggestion was made based on what i've heard players talk about or read here in forums / reddit, so judging me, through my suggestion, means you're judging almost everyone else. I've seen people like you crap all over other peoples idea saying its stupid, unbalanced, doesn't fit to the game, etc and etc. Of course, there ARE some ideas that is too out of hand for the current context of the game. You really think rolling +2 armor on a ilvl84 chest piece is reasonable ? If you do, fine. But it doesn't means THIS is balance. I'm tired to say that i'm not focusing on balancing stuff. This is an IDEA and a SUGGESTION. I expect that kind of feedback from a Dev. I want GGG asking me the same you've asked. It doesn't matter if it is balanced, because i'm not a dev, hell, this might never be implemented on the game. All i want to do is contribute to GGG staff and give them more and more ideas. I don't even care if they will implement the ideas one day, i don't even care if they will give me some credit. I would prefer to not be even noticed by GGG and have all the other good ideas i see here in this forum to be considered and/or implemented, than having my ideas considered/implemented. You don't even gave a nice feedback, you just said that you think this and that are bad, and didn't even told us why. Do you think THIS is reasonable ? "I mean, imagine if GGG were actually releasing this, not some dedicated fan, and filter your perceptions that way." This is where EVERYONE makes the same mistake. They won't. They simply WON'T release something like this, like EVER. I never asked for it. If they would implement this on the game, it would NEVER, like NEVER, be at least 10% similar to my idea. Our job as community is provide feedback and suggestions, ideas are pure information that can be molded into something better, but the problem is, if you don't put your heart on that, anyone sees. The thread is forgotten in the forums. Why ? Because people can only see with their eyes and expectatives. "oh no this is going to ruin my craft meta", "oh no this is too op". "no we don't need an auction house". Maybe everything is right, but we should try at least see through our own selfishness sometimes. I want clarify that i don't want to 'buy' anyone with pretty images. I'm glad you're being honest with your feedback and you're not 'glazed' like you say other peoples are. But you haven't even asked me anything before saying what you've just said. I know that GGG would simply ignore 90% of my suggestion, because as you said, it's "too unbalanced", but my point was only make the concept happens. I did this through images, because it is nicer, and i like to put effort into anything i'm willing to do. I could simply come here in the forums and write a huge wall of text with only the concepts of the ideas. Do you really think it would have gotten the same repercussion ? Do you literaly want for someone come here and say "hey, add a new orb that modifies tiers in some way, thanks." ? How many of these threads you see people talking about or make GGG notice them ? And you know what is the worse part of it ? At least half of them are good ideas. Or really good QoL to be implemented on the game. I don't think so. The pretty images are there just because i like them to be there. It was never meant to 'glaze' anyone. Thank you very much for your feedback Scrotie, and i really hope that i have clarified that yes, my idea isn't balanced. For good. Dream with me !

" I think i'll stick with this idea it's really cool ! But, i think the traditionalists would disagree don't you think ? "Corrupt is meant to not be undone", etc etc... " Thanks man ! Glad you liked it. That's not my very first idea, i have some older ones, but this is the kind of work that i want to keep doing at least every half an year or so (maybe less). And i promise to at least try make things more balanced for the next ones, i know i failed hard on that one lol, but i was focusing more about the concept and stuff, and i'm glad that almost everyone got that, like Boem said. " Thanks a lot pal, the essence orb idea is rarer than that. It's more like 90% same color and 5/5 to the other 2. It isn't supposed to be a common modification. And again... Dominant Orbs can't be used to get all the prefixes to T1... They have a cap and a way of not just spamming them =) But thanks a lot for your feedback =) Dream with me !

" Yep, they would. But veterans who stand by the long-term health of the game would agree. Bottom line is, you can't please everybody.

" Well the thing is though you would have to set certain rules. I was already a bit curious why they allow Vorici to change sockets on corrupted items. And this gem would simply just be used whenever a corruption fails or never at all. Its price would basically go up to the most expensive 20/20 gems, since that is what you would have to use instead. It is basically just a second chance on corrupting there. " If you remember the old Leap-Slam, Shield Charge or Cyclone + Multistrike times you know what will happen :P its not good, but lots of fun (exspecially since you totally lose control of your character during that time :P). " Yeah Dominant Orb is basically 1/6 of a mirror since items with 6 correct rolls are not that uncommon sadly you often end up with fun things like 1 - 2 Physical Damage or similar stuff. So it would likely be incredible rare and something 99% of the players would never see. I don't think the Essence Orb is really necessary. Some Skillgems might need to get looked at in terms of Stat requirement, while others could do with some recoloring. Bladefall/vortex and EK should be switched, the Chaos Golem could be Int/Str etc. With the already suggested easier coloring there shouldn't be that many issues. " Well considering the used skill (raise spectre) that one is already tied to a location. So it wouldn't matter. The other keystone is about Flasks and could be anywhere, and two keystones for unarmed which might be between Duelist and Marauder and the other one towards templer. Also small note... some of the unique suggestions simply do not work. You cannot Shock or Freeze on Evade or Block because you are not dealing damage. I'm also not sure what happens if you get 180% reduced experience. |

Fantastic job.

That's really amazing. There are a lot of interesting ideas in there.

I really love the idea of the Glyph system for maps.
This is a direct way to add more procedural generation, and endless content, of maps. More random effects, more random tilesets/ themes, more verity. The limits are only bound to developer creativity, total number of glyphs available, and number of glyphs possible to use. This reminds me of a system used in an old ps2 game .hack series. They used a 3 keyword system to generate different types of dungeons. Although in PoE's case they can add a lot of 'keywords' as glyphs, and many different possibilities with the different number of glyphs you could socket. I don't like the idea of Dominant Orb for a guaranteed improvement for a random mod. I would suggest changing it to a random mod of a random tier. Almost like a selective chaos orb, except we're rolling the tier of the mod and not the mod itself. So you could get perfect mods on an item but seriously require good crafting through this single orb. I don't like the idea of single use only. Legacy item mods, like item quantity, are a tricky thing to balance crafting around. The removal of eternal orbs was a step in the right direction. Your orb is completely over powered, sadly, because of these legacy item mods. That means old items with crummy quantity can be potentially improved with this. Would also suggest another Orb type. Remove a single random mod from an item. Has the potential to brick a very good item, or improve it. Think of it as the opposite of an Exalted Orb. Might post more later when I get time to read it all. It's late and I'm tired. Great work so far. "The absence of evidence is not the evidence of absence."
