Basically those who are willing to pay and have been willing to pay in the past, therefore most likely already have most if not all the existing MTX they want, have to wait until next year for awesome new stuff if they don't want tons of stuff they don't need and with the "right" rng even poor outcomes on desired stuff.

there is a reason many of the hardcore supporters (according to their posts) sit on thousands of points, i guess they wait for mtx which arent devalued by "sales" so easily.

the only ones left i can think of are supporter pack exclusive stuff or explicit one times offers like some helloween mtx.

the rest is just stuff which i buy occasionally ( like these 20 boxes) but it isn't worth much to show around because everybody could have got it for 15 points if they're lucky.

In my case, yes, partly.. can't speak for the others.

But also there just haven't been a lot of things that really appeal to me or apply to the skills I use. I grabbed the ghostflame set while it was on sale recently and have been running with it but even that, cool as it is, is just too flashy for me. I can't run with the Diamond Kiwi or Eternal Rhoa, but they're ok for idling in town. Will probably just switch to basic armour and hide the helm going forward. I prefer more subtle things like the ferret and the spectral basilisk.
I got a full set! AND FOUR Wolves!!!
Spent about 2k Points! WORTH IT!
Too bad it will not be a Box Exclusive, lol, greedy me!

I'm honestly sad to get 400 times the same effects like portals, which are multi use.

And yeah, no darned body armor after so many tries and so much money.

Hey GGG, let me trade duplicates for armor please! :D I DID give you loads of cash for them :)
If you are gambling disposable income on these boxes, great, more power to you.

I worry about people with a gambling addiction who will gamble their rent money or the money used to buy their kids food. If you do this, it's your own fault, but like any drug dealer, GGG is a facilitator.

Some of you won't get this. You don't know someone who when confronted with an RNG based purchase loses all sense of reason and destroys their life.

4k points

8 gloves
4 boots
2 helmets
1 chest

1 in 267 doesn't seem too unreasonable for the main piece of an armour set...

In a few weeks the set will be in the store for 400-ish points. A few weeks after that, the set will be on sale for 200-ish points.

I'm glad you enjoyed paying 4,000 points for it.

I'm really disappointed to hear that consumable items are apart of this mystery box. I think the Northern Light effect is neat and all, but IMO it doesn't have any place in something like this. I think this should be sold as a separate effect.

Yet it works fine for dota 2 and other games. You go through the rng, sometimes lucky getting your item on the first try, sometimes overspending to get it, but no doubles unless you have an off chance on something very rare, thus overspending when you got the normal items already one time each. A system that is rng, but goes towards one goal thus more rewarding and it achieves a lot of sales. The success posts made in this thread immediately put me off. It is not like there is a mtx trade in this game that makes the gamble on an exclusive item worth it. The fact it holds no value apart for the owner considerably lowers the value of gambling.

Please tell me what other smaller, independent game developer companies (i.e.: not Valve) are pretty much giving away money to players in the amounts I listed. When (and if) GGG can afford to make sure everyone gets all the box prizes without duplicates then I'm sure they will. Right now, though, these (MTX, Supporter packs) are the major means for them to fund the game and keep it running for us for free.
It makes no sense to think that GGG would be in the black by giving away big priced items for 15 points with a practically guaranteed outcome that everyone would get everything eventually. Even if I spent $150 (1500 points, 100 boxes) to get everything and a few dupes with what you have proposed, GGG would still lose. Let's see...
Arctic skull - 220 (1 box)
Ice Crown - 95 (1 box)
Arctic Footprints - 175 (1 box)
Swordfish Ice Spear - 110 (1 box)
Arctic Portal Effect - 150 (1 box)
Arctic Armour Set - 420 (guess at whole set price as opposed to individual pieces) (4 boxes)
Arctic Skull Hatred - 90 (1 box)
Arctic Weapon Effect (250) (1 box)
Those 11 boxes are worth 1510 points right there and I would still have 89 to open! Let's not forget that the pets are probably going to be over 100 points each (and I am likely understating the price), so GGG would undoubtedly lose tons of revenue with that plan, especially if I were lucky enough to get everything twice!

Some have spent twice that amount and still no chest armour :(

By the time you spend enough to get the armour, you've got literally dozens of absolutely useless duplicate MTXs.

While I'm not going to complain that they do these box things (I just don't take part in them), I think it would be a nice thing for them to at least add basic functionality to organize the MTX stash. It's pretty ridiculous that this is the second one of these box sales and they still haven't done that.

I've read some of the horror stories. People spending more points on these boxes than I have accumulated through support packs, haha.

I'm not a big fan of these boxes, though it is rather easy to get sucked in once you open a few good ones, but I was just arguing the fact that they simply have to be as random as random can be for GGG to both put nicer MTX effects in them and make money off the whole thing in the process. It is, as many have said, a gamble for the buyer.

As far as the ability to organize our microtransations tabs, I agree 100% with you on that (and this is actually the third mystery box sale they have had: St. Patrick's Day Mystery Box in March (1 day only), The Ember Mystery Box in July (3 days) and this Winter Mystery Box (21 days)).
