In my opinion those Boxes should alsways contain something that you haven't purchased or received yet.
Or for pets maybe not more than two of them (i know you can put hundreds of them in the hideout).
But multiple armour parts or more than two pets of the same kind(i know people who want a zoo in their hideout will now intervene, sorry)?

Changing the way of the boxes outcome you could attract a lot more players to buy these boxes!
My guess would be a higher overall earning.
But that's just my opinion... ;-)

If they did this, the boxes would't be able to contain anything over probably 20 points (or likely just the same as the box value - 15 points in this case) just so GGG didn't lost money hand over fist.
The allure of these boxes is to get a big ticket item (or exclusive or a 'first chance' like the armour set) for a minimal amount of investment. Guaranteeing the box drops something you don't have would mean, no matter what, including high priced items would cost GGG way too much in lost revenue in the end.
Let's take the Arctic Skull for example. Regularly it is 220 points, but you can unwrap one (as it were) in a mystery box for 15 points. So, a $22.00 item effect became yours for just $1.50. That's huge. Even if the effect went on sale for 50% off, you are still saving 95 points with the box.

nvm., sorry, no spam intended.

Yet it works fine for dota 2 and other games. You go through the rng, sometimes lucky getting your item on the first try, sometimes overspending to get it, but no doubles unless you have an off chance on something very rare, thus overspending when you got the normal items already one time each. A system that is rng, but goes towards one goal thus more rewarding and it achieves a lot of sales. The success posts made in this thread immediately put me off. It is not like there is a mtx trade in this game that makes the gamble on an exclusive item worth it. The fact it holds no value apart for the owner considerably lowers the value of gambling.

wait a moment, i thought it's summer in nz???!

I hope so, I'm going on vacation there end of next month! Anyone know of anything must-see/do in NZ? :)

I've been in NZ twice (6+ weeks both times) and plan to go next October/November, spring time.
So yea, it's summertime now!
I would recommend:
-Stewards Island, Kiwi sactuary
-Raglan, great surf and most laid back town I've seen (raglan surfschool, great place to stay, a bit out of the town)
-Rotarua, it smells funny (fumes from the volcanic grounds) but is beautiful
-Travel from South to North island by ferry, it's great (rough sea is even nicer!)
-Visit the lighthouse up north where the story goes the Maori spirits descent in the ocean.
-Travel all the way down south and make a picture with the famous way markings to the equator and southpole
-Rent a car, unless u want to be a sheep in the herd of the bus company.. (although u are able to do as u please and stay a while longer at a place u like)
-Travel some random backroads, let the road take u where it goes
-Visit local bar's and pubs in small cities, great way to learn about local hidden spots.

Enjoy your visit, I know I will :)

If you're a Middle Earth Fan then you should visit Hobbiton and take the Weta Workshop tour in the North Island.

Queenstown in the south island is the adventure capital of NZ with a lot of activities to do but it's also the most touristy part of the country by far. I've never seen so many backpackers all in the one place :)

If you can afford it take the helicopter from Queenstown to Milford Sound for the boat cruise, the Helicopter back with a glacier landing on the way. Bring a descent camera as the snow capped mountains are spectacular!

If you want a Jet Boat experience travel out to Te Anau for it, the scenery is amazing compared to the Queenstown one.

For a more relaxed trip do the Doubtful Sound overnight boat cruise. It's a great way to experience some of the most amazing countryside in the world and you really have to be there for dusk and dawn.

If you're a motorcycle fan or can just appreciate the development of technology you should visit Nelson for the motorcycle museum. Around 300 vintage motorcycles including some very rare models. I could live there.

Also in Nelson, and again for the Middle Earth fan, is Jens Hansen the jeweler that designed and made the One Ring for the LOTR movies. You can see the giant ring used in the snow scene with Boromir and Frodo and can probably get your photo taken with it. The staff are really friendly there and their designs are awesome.

It really is an amazing country, so picturesque and the people are very friendly. I would go back there tomorrow in a heartbeat.
2 wolf pets
3 snow for hideout
2 ice nova effect
3 stacks northern light
2 ice crown for hideout
than i stopped bying the box and save my points

After patch i logged in game and tried to buy the box and everytime i tried i got 'timed out' error, i gave up and bought boxes at website shop, after some minutes those ingame purchases succeed automatically and i ended up losing points and having boxes i dont want. E-mailed the GGG about this and i got reply 'we cant help you with this' .
Its their fault, their system sucked gave error and later automacially giving me boxes and charges points.. I dont care about 10$ worth points but this is not proffessional.

I was thinking to buy 440$ supporter pack once again but this kind of bad service made me decide to NOT BUY supporter packs.

I'll just share some of my analysis here.

The prizes are not equally weighted. That's obvious, and it's also proven when you add the point values of every item and divide by 19.

I found a way to make the expected value "a little more than 50 points," but you won't like the odds. 31% chance to get Northern Lights. 8.5% chance to get Stormcloud Arctic Armour. 3.3% chance to get Arctic Boots (or Gloves). 0.75% chance to get Arctic Body Armour. (That's 1/135.) The exact odds depend on the point-value of the items that aren't in the shop.

The expected value is great until you start excluding items, as in "no duplicates" or "no hideout decorations."

Nitpick:
GGG: "Many of the prizes are ones that you can use multiple of..."
Arctic Lynx, Wolf, Northern Lights, Ice Decoration, and Snow Decoration (and Arctic Weapon effect for dual-wielding?). The others are armour effects (you can only use one piece of armour at a time), or skill effects (who links more than one copy of a skill at a time?).

Link to spreadsheet

The formatting isn't the best.
Expected Value (1) is if they were equally weighted.
Expected Value (2) is if they were weighted according to their point values. An effect worth 40 points gets 1/40th share in the pool, an item worth 250 points gets 1/250th share, etc. Then normalize the chances to 1 by dividing each share by the sum of all shares.
Expected Value (3) adds an exponential weighting to the points. An effect worth X points is treated as though it was X^N points, then analyzed like EV(2). I adjusted the exponent until I got "an expected value of just over 50 points." (quote=GGG)

Edit: Thanks ChristinaAnn (Page 15) for science. My odds are still a little off...
