Donald Trump
" the comment section is gold. " Holy shit lol. on a more serious note, I never owned a gun and Im by no means a specialist, but can appreciate the beauty of weapons and getting grease all over the barrel made me cringe hard. " Ahhh...it's hard. From the outside, the gun culture in US seems fucked up to the point that even strict gun controls seem useless. I mean, people collect guns like dolls, and there are some right wing militias (it makes me remember the fascist groups that used to control my country in the past). Then there is the fact that people with mental problems are not treated because socialism or something. People use guns to fry beacon for fucks sake. I thought that that Simpsons' chapter where Homer buys a gun was over the top but it resulted to be a sensible analysis of the situation. Gun regulation will be useless in that enviroment. You can't legislate culture nor stupid. I support people having guns but for fucks sake... And then there is this. I mean, fuck yeah freedom! but this is dumb. " That i find hillarious. Because most of the anti Trump comments are that he is a mean nazi. Pretty much calling him and everyone who supports him names. And if you are not on the same side as this trump hating train, well then you are just as evil and probably nazi as well. I bet Trump supporters punch babies as well right? |

This is as close as you can get to being a "nazi" within the democratic spectrum. A part of the voters and activists ofc are in fact antidemocratic, racists, supremacists, at least that´s what we see in Europe. Last edited by Schmodderhengst#7293 on Feb 18, 2016, 7:58:55 AM

" He's been unironically called Hitler in this very thread. I think the left is in panic mode and sadly for them nobody buys it. GGG banning all political discussion shortly after getting acquired by China is a weird coincidence.

" What he is representing is dangerous enough, again: both far right populism(here: extreme right) and classic social democracy(here: center left) seem to have arrived in the States with Trump´s speeches being more extreme than any European populist. Probably both is new to many people. I don´t see any "left", Sanders is calling himself a democratic socialist to make the impression he´s going to do something "revolutionary" in an attempt to attract young voters, I guess. http://america.aljazeera.com/articles/2016/2/9/with-trump-and-sanders-european-style-politics-reaches-america.html And too many people are in "panic mode". Especially right wing voters when it comes to scapegoating and generalizing. "Panic mode" makes things worse. But concerning Trump I have to admit at least he is not a radical religious(some say he worships the golden calf). Last edited by Schmodderhengst#7293 on Feb 18, 2016, 3:52:03 PM

Well, our media (I'm French) mostly transmit the most notable information about the US elections, so the decent parts of Trump's speaches tend to be forgotten, while the crazy stuff is amplified. Plus, since France is a lot more to the left than the US (or US a lot more to the right, it's a matter of perspective), some of the stuff that sounds acceptable to US citizens suddenly becomes insane from our point of view.
I suspect Donald Trump (and part of the leaders of our extreme-right party) of actually being very cynical, only putting forward most of this xenophobic shit because it will land him more votes. |

" Hear me, I don't think he is a nazi (I don't expect him to try genocide), but I stand by my analysis that he is a fascist, or at least he has fascist tendencies. You can read out there in this thread. All that talk about negotiating from strength and needing to win more, scapegoating "the others", the over the top promises (the wall and the deportation of millions of people are flat out stupid) and economical interventionism for the national cause (trade tariffs for the sake of trade tariffs) can be positively compared to fascism, specially as Mussolini practiced it (Mussolini didn't kill the "weak", but he had a rhetoric of blaming other countries and other people for problems in Italy, he tried to isolate the country economically). Basically, if you want a strong leader with a strong ego that can do whatever he proposes, no matter how outlandish/chauvinistic is, vote him. " I don't think the left is in panic mode, I actually think they are underestimating the appeal of Trump. The way he is campaigning is pretty much similar to Nixon's Southern Strategy, but for the 21st century. Ironically, Sanders would be McGovern in this situation (if he is chosen). Calling him Nazi from the beginning without even trying to explain why was a bad move (Godwin's law and all that), but as I wrote, I think there are good reasons to denounce him and even call him fascist because of his rhetoric.
