[2.1] Talisman CI/life viper strike build
Have any of you guys worked out what the best dps supports are for vs? I know phys scales the entire thing and chaos only the dot, but if you've only got hybrid nodes is it possible any of the poison supports might edge out phys attack ones?
I have all the skill duration nodes in my build so will that make poison supports better? my evasion is so high i only insta rip sometimes ----- Bug Fixes: People were using cyclone for actual melee builds, so we nerfed it and made blade vortex. Also, we went ahead and made cyclone great for CoC casters while we were at it. Last edited by Legatus1982#1658 on Dec 16, 2015, 11:45:02 AM

The build looks pretty good therealjcool. How is the survivability looking, and the what are the damage numbers? I think the damage numbers should be pretty good since it is a crit version :). Also, when you hit like higher lvl maps, please post some videos if possible.
So, I went on a different path to just see how well the tanky version of the build will perform. I am using non-crit sword build version (swords for extra 4% block chance). So far its been good, I have reached lvl 74 and been farming last few lvls in dried lake. Will move into maps when I hit lvl 75. Below is my gear mostly self found, just bought the 5L for 9c and alched it, and stone of lazhwar for 3c.
Spoiler
I am using viper strike for both aoe and single target and it looks pretty good. The play style is whirl into a pack (to get your fortify buff), hit it till it reaches 30% or less HP and then whirl to next pack. The earlier pack will die by poison stacks. Frenzy gem is used for gaining frenzy charges quickly in case you run out of it during boss fight (need to 4L those boots :)). The build is pretty tanky so far, I am having 41/21 block chance with tempest shield up. The next few lvls will get more block nodes and will have around 54/27 block chance with tempest shield up (with rainbow stride will be 54/40). Below is my skill tree so far. My next upgrades are: 1. Rainbow stride 2. Get jewellary with phys dmg. 3. meginord's gridle 4. lightning coil + abyssus The damage of this build will not be as good as crit, but this is a tanky variant. Will see how it works in later maps and end game content, if it performs satisfactorily will post some videos. Last edited by Tereng#1784 on Dec 16, 2015, 12:22:03 PM

" So with my testing I found the best support for non-crit are: VS + melee splash + faster casting + melee phys + rapid decay for crit version might replace rapid decay with increased crit. dmg. I personally don't like multistrike with this build, cause this is like hit and run build, and don't like locked up in a place using multistrike. I've also got some starting hybrid nodes of shadow but mostly took pure phys. nodes, I feel it'll scale dmg better. The skill duration nodes make the poison stack last longer, so on a tough boss with skill duration you will have more dots in place at a time which will be better. For other content it doesn't really matter much as VS base poison duration is 8 secs. and by that time everything else will die anyway. |

" Ya warlord's mark sure helps, you can have CWDT setup with lvl 1 warlord's mark so you don't have to manually cast it, and warlord's lvls don't scale leech percentage so lvl 1 is good enough. If you want a tanky version check my post above that build is tanky, also remember this is a hit and run build, so apply dot and use your whirl a lot for fortify buff, don't facetank things for long. Also, have CWDT + immortal call setup. |

Faster casting? You mean faster attacks? And is that mathed out or from field tests?
For me, it's a tough call because I've got about 120% phys increase and 80-90% chaos increase with nearly 100% increased duration, and several of the mechanics I'm not sure how they will interact (and aren't all on the tooltip). For example will the poison support gem help more than multi strike? Does it add extra poison stacks? In the end I may have to use excel to math this all out I think, there's a lot of confusing options. my evasion is so high i only insta rip sometimes ----- Bug Fixes: People were using cyclone for actual melee builds, so we nerfed it and made blade vortex. Also, we went ahead and made cyclone great for CoC casters while we were at it. Last edited by Legatus1982#1658 on Dec 16, 2015, 12:28:13 PM

Strick9,
you are making the mistake of using two DPS daggers in a DW (Dual Wield) build when you should be using just 1 + a stat stick your offhand. Stat sticks are weapons that are incompatible with Reave/Viper Strike (so you will only actually attack with your dagger) but still give you the DW bonus + some nice other boni. These are Axes and Maces. The "Relentless Fury" Axe I am using is giving me culling strike and Onslaugt on kill, for example. Later the Death's Hand is BiS (Best in Slot) and, franky, most of the reason for going DW. Leech has been nerfed, yes. But it is still good if you get enough life and maybe some life leech passives (Vitality Void near Duelist is what I'm considering to get myself). Tereng, there are daggers with up to 6% implicit block as well. So you don't have to go swords :) Tho I guess non-crit dagger is kinda weak option. My tooltip damage is fairly useless, as it is calculating it WITH using my offhand weapon, which in fact isn't being used at all. So kinda hard to tell real dps. It's enough now, and will be awesome later on once I get all those sexy crit nodes. As I said, the real issue is defense. And here, warlord's helps a lot, as does the fullscreen range from Vaal Reave. I don't think I could play this without multistrike, would feel weak and also annoying due to the lack of auto-targetting (for me). Once you reach a certain APS level, you can break off your attack almost instantly even with multistrike linked. Of course, DW has higher APS so you get there quicker; also depends on weapon. I've never actually made any gameplay videos but if I can survive a bit longer and get decent gear/get to mid-maps at least, I'll try. Last edited by therealjcool#2040 on Dec 16, 2015, 12:50:40 PM

Hey thought i should post how its going for me since i seem to have gotten abit further ahead.
Im currently lvl89 and pretty much steamrolling most stuff, its abit dicey on some bosses but i kill them really fast, ive got about 50k dps on vs with full charges+atziri and unholy might which is up all the time. Heres my current gear
Spoiler
Bino + Death's hand works wonders, also bino is amazing for survival. I'm also using AA and cwdt+warlords mark for more survivability. im currently at 4.8k hp. Should also add that i feel very tanky with my current setup which can still improve. Last edited by Xyrre#6284 on Dec 16, 2015, 12:52:31 PM

I didn't follow this thread/guide exactly but I have done something very similar. I have pretty good DPS but I have a lot of trouble sustaining both mana and life. Clearing mobs is no problem, but I have to constantly spam flasks to stay in the fight. My VS tooltip reaches around ~20k DPS with 5 frenzy and 5 power charges up, but this damage isn't really dependable for me during boss fights because these charges are so hard to keep up during difficult boss fights. Anyone have advice for survivability/DPS during boss fights? I guess I should pick up Frenzy, so that I can keep up charges during fights? I'm also one point away from IR. Evasion sucks monkey nuts :S Also this is the first I hear about "Stat stick" in the offhand instead of two DPS daggers in a DW build (I'm new to this kind of build). What kind of stats do you think are good to have on this "stat stick"? Just tankiness? Resists, max life etc? Or maybe nice unique attributes as u found in ur relentless axe? |
|
" Lol.. this looks exactly like I planned my char out :P Very nice! Glad to hear you are doing so well! Are you using "my" tree or did you do something differently? I was using AA earlier but dropped it for curse+blasphemy.. do you get hit reliably enough to proc warlord's from CwdT? |
|
" Yeah i have followed your tree exactly :p. I used blasphemy+assassin's mark before i had death's hand, then i switched to AA+warlords in cwdt and cwdt is working okay i get hit often enough, could prob try something else here also. Was thinking about what to use as 6L later between inc aoe and void manipulation not sure what i gain the most from, inc aoe would be nice for clear speed since most stuff alredy die really fast. |
