PoE's performance is poor for a lot of people

PoE's performance is worse and worse after EACH expansion and each league, GG

Their obsession with shiny things is taking its toll, who would have guessed it.
this topic should never die down and go back to the oblivion pages

it seems GGG is becoming obsessed with making the game so pretty that they didnt bother consider optimizing it

they are already fully aware its not optimized (ground effects, strong boxes, MTX rogue exiles, discharg pooping players etc.) yet they treated the new expansion and league with "we have to make it next gen graphics"

i even wonder if the texture they use in their MTX or in the new expansion is 4k res because that what happens when i added a 4k texture mod in darksouls 2, it froze my FPS for like 1-2 seconds whenever i equip it
Did I ever tell you what the definition of insanity is? Insanity is doing the exact... same fucking thing... over and over again expecting... shit to change... That. Is. Crazy. thinking: "This time is gonna be different. No, no, no please... This time is gonna be different."

My rig: i7 4790k, AMD R9 270x, 10GB ram, game & Windows 10 on SSD

Getting FPS drops to 30-15 when engaging blue packs/ open boxes/ engaging the perandus mobs etc.....
All this because this game use/maxing out, only one core of my CPU! and my GPU is just chillin whit maxed out graphics on 30/50/60 load ....

That is a poor optimized game engine!
I don't know but I seriously gotta think about quitting this game due performance issues. It's getting ridiculous now. Almost every perandus pack 1) causes little stuttering when offscreen 2) fps drops to zero when attacking them. I've seen people dying to these 0 fps issues already and pretty sure that's what I'm going to rip my char and quit

GODDAMN HIRE THOSE ******* PROGRAMMERS ALREADY TO FIX YOUR GAME.

Used to be playable with high-end pc even with all old issues but now it's unplayable even with high-end pc.

This pretty much sums my current game experience https://www.twitch.tv/nugiyen/v/52732286?t=39m10s
Atleast I haven't experienced complete game crashes with perandus packs which MANY of my friends report

I agree, we need better performance. But there is a light at the end of the tunnel, because GGG also agrees (see http://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/1575921):

We will soon have two full-time programmers working on client and server performance. One is a dedicated graphics engine programmer. In addition, we have engaged an external company to help with some improvements to our graphics engine.

@GGG: It would be great if we could get updates on this topic every now and then.

GGG never really responds here check maybe reddit. Other than that they are every time just fixing symptoms and not the whole thing.

There was a smart developer on reddit who even teached one of the GGG developers to solve an issue, so literally he explained him how to fix something in their own game :D

Its impressive. U need at least an i7 and a Titan Z to play this game lag free if this is even enough :)

It is not enough anymore. That's the problem. Nothing is enough, optimization is so bad
Gonna echo here regarding performance issues.

I have no issues with League of Legends (play tourneys for RP to buy skins for friends) or cities: skylines (for instance), but PoE has such resource demands that my plugged-in laptop starts discharging if I have vsync and anti-aliasing enabled, so I have to play it on pretty low settings (not *much* of a difference, I suppose). It doesn't affect my enjoyment of the game too much, but good grief.

Maybe it's b/c my laptop is around 3 years old, or because I have SLI GT 650 Ms, but it seems exclusive to this game.

Essentially, I don't think it should take a $2,000 laptop to run a game that's been around for a while to enjoy 6-man party play, even if all 6 are CoC builds.
Even 2k usd desktop pc isn't enough. There is no hardware available in consumer market which can run poe without issues in it's current state. This is very sad

Agree, PoE require more and more investment for playing game then AAA+ game with maxed grafs.

Also there random DC makes no sense (special when you stay in HO or just act 4)

I not even saying about game crash that occurred so many times while join map or lab or daily.

Bumping this thread, probably to no avail.

Previously I was running PoE on an AMD Phenom X4, Radeon 7850 2GB and 4GB of RAM (DDR2 0.0), with everything maxed out and had only minor issues here and there. But now... I just upgraded my machine to an AMD FX 6300, Radeon R9 380 4GB and 16GB system RAM, and the lag is unreal. Perandus boxes drop my FPS to single digits, the lava traps in the Labyrinth also drop me to single digits, and regular gameplay sees lock ups on a regular basis. Note that I am running 2 SSDs (OCZ Vertex and Sandisk Extreme), and I'm hardwired on a 200MB+ connection. Literally every other game runs max settings without any issue, but PoE is so bad now.

It's pretty sad that my machine is nearly twice as powerful as it was before, but somehow my performance has degraded horribly in this game. I'll try some tweaks and what not, but just wanted to vent my frustration at this.
