I just checked this gif out and whoever was playing stood in the same spot as he submerged (this is your cue to start running away from the spot you're currently standing in as hes about to come up at that location).

The person died because of that.. if they had moved, they would have survived.

Again learning the boss helps.

Are you blind ? Malachai teleport north east of area when the character was at the center of the map when malachai start to teleport.

He was moving from center to corn of the area, when he see malachai tp he run away but still get one shoted.

It doesn't matter if you move he will teleport somewhere on map if youre moving where he teleport your geting one shoted and you can't see where he will teleport.

He will teleport to the location of the player after he finishes submerging.. exactly as he did in this gif. Then after coming back up will do big aoe.. exactly as happened in this gif.

The player stood in the same position when the teleport finished. The player is at fault here not the boss.

When I'm playing and the submerge happens I pop up a a quicksilver flask just to be certain and make sure that I'm no where near the place I was after he finished submerging.

There's nothing more to say here really.. the boss did as it's supposed to and the player didn't move, the gif looks a fair death to me.

He didn't teleport where the player was he teleported in front of where he was going to move. The player was never at the same spot where he teleported.

Are you fucking serious?

Nothing is random, all attacks are telegraphed. Want proof? Ask anyone on hardcore who made it to cruel/merciless, it's obviously not impossible. When he submerge, don't stand in the same fucking spot scratching your head, get moving! If you're having so much trouble, study videos of the fight, learn how it works. I did it in Tempest league with my ice crash duelsit (1h/shield), far from perfect build.

Challenging, yes. Too hard, no. It's the final boss of the game, I would be mad if it wasn't a challenge.
The moral of the story: Use Flame Totem.

Right? :)

I agree with most of what you have typed down.

Currently I do not have the feeling that this game promotes build diversity with a boss like Malachai ingame. Only when using instant skills you have a chance at him.

If you need to actively aim and cast skills at Malachai, it means you are standing still and that means you are already as good as dead. It is a fight where you continuously need to run, hide, get hit anyway, drink some pots and portal out for good.

Brutus, Merveil, Fidelitas, Vaal, Piety and Dominus are all better designs. Actually I am not a fan of all act 4 belly of the beast bosses. That part was released way too early and leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

Belly feels rushed lorewise. The design and art put into it with the eyes watching as you walk through is very cool and the eye things were a decent design as well to say the positive. There is no complaint for the people who designed the area itself.

It just has a bland feeling because Piety doesn't really explain anything and where the hell you are anyway. And then suddenly you kill these 3 major lore characters without explaining how they got there (presumably Piety bought there remains there). Also if Malachai was the body of the beast and could raise the dead back again and was a God on Wraeclast why doesn't he just instantly have you killed? And what was with the whole rapture device wasn't it supposed to destroy the beast in the first place?

You have no real clue why you're doing things and there is also no extra lore or anything over at the Harvest. Kaom's area and Daresso's area were done perfectly. Lorewise and testing wise they could've made the last part a lot better, the general picture of the area is great with the environment but what you're doing in the belly and the bosses just doesn't make a lot of sense.
There should be no instant kill abilities in the early part of a boss fight.

Bosses should start with a "X% less damage dealt & less damage taken" buff that gradually fades as the fight advances, so that neither can the boss one shot you before you even learn what he can do, nor can you burst the boss down before he starts dishing out real pain.

This way you can learn enough about the boss during the fight to decide if you want to:
A - Continue fighting
B - Get the fuck out of there

Because introducing an instant kill attack that a player WILL die to unless he already knows how it works (and even then may still die), in a game with Hardcore mode, is frankly just purely stupid design.

2.No matter how much life and defences you have if you take the full malachai attack you will die.
Wrong. I facetanked Malachi's attack with only 4k hp, no EC, no fortify and so on. Oh wait, that was in normal difficulty...

No :) the player in gif died exactly because he was busy casting FT when da boss teleported right under his ass and busted it with his touche of gawd.
And worst change is putting almost all bosses in new version of maps into fucking small areas, where you can't kite well or dodge stuff. What a terrible idiot invented that I want say to him: dude flick you, seriously flick you very much.

Apex of Sacrifice/Alluring Abyss.

It would need a lot of good drops though.
Belly of the beast makes apex of sacrifice look like a cakewalk.

@the OP, you would probably also remove him from SC if you removed him from HC; the community in softcore is much less willing to put up with d3 inferno style difficulty.
When leveling with my gf in the SC league the act 3/4 town of normal was busy but after that in act 1 cruel we were literally the only ones there for over 3 minutes; anecdotal of course but that does leave a pretty sour impression.

In merciless it should be a real challenge.
In normal it isn't ok when you can facetank any ability from any boss (excluding crits) and then get one shot 2 seconds into the fight.
That's a ragequit moment that would cause any new player to just immediately quit; nobody wants do to that.

3.You can not avoid his lethal teleport attack as you just don't have time to avoid it. Ton of video and gif can be found as a proof.

LOL what?? You have like 3 seconds to run away...
