Malachai Fight is Doable
I just came into this feedback-part of the forum and i am astonished about the "Feedback".
Normal-Malachai is not very hard as soon as u understand how to fight him. I understand that for a newbie, that plans his char not close to how maybe a veteran would plan his char, malachai can be very punishing. And yes, maybe, for the sake of not letting these new players getting off the hook it is thinkable to tone his damage a bit down. But let me tell these newbies a little story. When Dominus got introduced, i really got destroyed by him, because i couldnt understand what is happening (for example that bloodrain). After i learned to get along with these things i am able to kill him more or less naked. In my point of view todays Dominusfight is far too easy for an "Last-act-Boss" (and now he isnt it anymore anyway) So when i did Malachai the first time in Tempest League, now with a bit more experience on me i first kept being on the move and didnt attack to be able to first learn his Attackpatterns. After that i killed him on normal without bigger problems (PA trapper, around 1,3k life, not more). I died yesterday to him on Cruel due to a movement mistake of me.That was my own fault, beside he is very hard atm. Not very salty because of that.I could have done better and be better prepared. I just reached Cruel Act 4 again with new Char and will try again tomorrow (normal Fight was not a Problem at all again). Indeed i do think that especially Cruel and Merciless need some adjustments in damageoutpu. But nothing too drastic. Normal could stay the same for me and i would be fine with it. As i know there are players with less Experience i understand that they maybe have to change it a bit too, but dont overnerf him. !The game has to be hard to be interesting! Its a nice stepping stone to check if u are worth it to progress, especially in HC. And at last i want to thank GGG for their awesome work on act 4 and all the new content. I love the feel especially of the Belly and Harvest Region. I hope upcoming acts in the next years will keep the trend of getting darker and creepier. I will definitly continue to buy MTX and stuff to support you. Dont be too sad about all the salt and tears here. Its a overall trend that Gamers tend to blame the Game for their own failures. (That destroyed btw a concurring product of a famous company we all know after they reacted to similar salt. That Game was best at its hardest. Now its unplayable. Good for you. Dont do the same mistakes. ) Your Game is awesome and gets better every patch. Keep up the good Work I love it. Thank u very much and sorry for Wall of Text. Um... Level 42 in normal mode. Cannot even damage him. Time to do something else.

There's a difference between hard and punishing content. Hard content means the difficulty increases as you progress thru the game (or is equally hard from the very beginning). Punishing content means progressing thru the game rather easily, then getting the shit beaten out of you to the point where you need to buy a kill to advance to the next difficulty where the game gets easy again (yes, people buy Malachai kills in both Normal and Cruel). Memorizing boss' attacks is yet another example of a punishing game. You need to remember how to react (e.g. run in circles, stay next to the boss etc.) if a certain animation/attack appears. It's not intuitive, it's punishing, because if you react differently, even if it's intuitive and logical to do so, you're most likely dead in a matter of seconds. Act 4 is a major fuckup, especially past Kaom/Daresso and if I were GGG I'd simply pull that content out of the game.

" I remember diablo 3 when it was first released, people figured out what was the way to deal with the huge difficulty (stacking resistances, effective health calculators, every single point made a difference), that meant, everyone was running similar builds just to be able to survive one shot mechanic. I am wondering, can you do a melee build and try to finish normal with it ? |

don't like the mechanic of the malachai fight. atziri was content for those who felt up for it. but a normal boss fight with timed invulnerability, that needlessly extends the fighting time and shooting gallery objects you have to hit in order to kill the boss is imho just annoying.

Yesterday i started a 2h build and i have to say, you cant even dodge this mechaniks, too slow. Leap slam doesnt realy achieves its purpose and multistrike locks you in place.
However, the biggest isues are the fps drops and his abilitys have no contrast, evrything is either red or black. Piety is equaly annoying, at the beginning you can dodge here beam, but after a while there are to many ads that block you. Most likely i will quit and wait for other arpg games. |

" This is an opinion, and in my experience generally not the opinion of the majority of players in any game... Last edited by Cyzax#3287 on Jul 12, 2015, 6:40:41 PM

Players will solo and even farm Malachai in about 1 or 2 months, period.
This happened with Dominus and Atziri. And will happen with Malachai too. Just remember GGG put all gems on vendor. Think your strategy and test it on standard. It's a very hard but not impossible fight. Last edited by Nigarai#5761 on Jul 12, 2015, 7:11:59 PM

" Players already can solo this, but it means only specific builds will be viable. Want to progress past Normal, here are the builds to choose from: a, b, c My take: Normal should be doable by everyone, regardless of experience and skill, cruel should require some understanding of game mechanics, merciless should require much more effort and solid build, and maps should require end-game builds and gear. That's how I see it, how do you see it ? |

He just one shotted my lvl 62 Marauder on Cruel who had 3,4k hp. I was 5 lvl's bigger than the area. I think the fight is actually too punishing. This was on HC league. You make one movement mistake and bang, you are dead.
