State of the Beta - Post #6
There's a lot of crying in this thread, and mainly from people who play standard leagues. Its not surprising that they would be the most vocal about this change because they don't really look forward to new things.
This addition, especially the elemental damage to spells, is a great one; not only that, the fact that staves will receive higher amounts of elemental spell damage than other weapons if music to my ears. The addition of new mods will make it harder to craft the stuff that you want, so I can understand why people are QQ from that perspective. Regardless, a promise is a comfort to a fool... be cool. GGG listens to its fans!!! Thank you!

" Yesterday, I was reading the [Standard Buying] trade forum. People are trying to buy mirrors. One of the guys is offering 550 exalted a piece! And he wants all the mirrors he can get. So, no! This change will not hit the top 5%. It will make them even richer. With the new T1 mods, things will get worse unless GGG fixes the mirror problem. Please, make some sense. It's obvious that GGG had the increase some values. We got a new act, new endgame material, and people should try that with the same gear? I think that we have a level 82 map now...
Are people really suggesting that GGG should have kept the same values and f*ck with it? How does this makes sense? People have been asking for Act 4 for months, and now, apparently people wanna be put to sleep by Kaom. Really. Try it. You will. I'm not saying that GGG should make OP things, but it's only reasonable to balance the game. If you guys were advising GGG to make low rolls forbidden for 50+ players, I would agree... It's ridiculous having a 2h Mace with a 1-2 attack damage boost... but apparently, people would complain anyway... that would make crafting a lil' bit easier. I can imagine: Aw... now everyone can get decent rolls, especially with Masters boo hoo. Good job GGG ;) Last edited by Prisma01#7918 on Jun 9, 2015, 8:45:36 PM

New mods mean new builds - I'm game.

" THIS! It is like rl, you can not hit the rich people without hurting the poor even more. German saying: Schönheit und Funktionalität in Sekundenschnelle zu ruinieren, ist dem wahren Dilettanten keine Herausforderung!
torturo: "Though, I'm really concerned, knowing by practice the capabilities of the balance team." top2000: "let me bend your rear for a moment exile" |

Looking forward to it!

" If they did this, maybe I won't RAGE!!! New mod better than Glyphic huh? Wow I can't believe this GGG. You're making a huge mistake, without doubt. I spent over 100exa crafting a 3 mod dagger tier 1. I'm not a "rich asshhole". Instead, I'm somebody who took a chance and successfully crafted THREE mods. It broke the bank. Lesson learned: Our progress in PoE is temporary, and the grind is not meaningful because the game has no stability (although it could if GGG would adhere to some core concepts which they've been preaching the whole time). The rich crafters doing mirror service can bounce back. For me, there is no other option than accepting the fact that my perfect craft is no longer a perfect craft, which really hurts my soul. I will never have that "lets go for it" feeling again in regards to crafting. It's a wash. Last edited by beefnuggy#6270 on Jun 9, 2015, 9:04:38 PM

Trading has slowed considerably since this post. Sales over 5c have ground to a halt and mirrors have shot up galore. My dream of getting a better amulet has been snatched away.
The higher mods are an annoyance, but that hasn't caused me a ton of pain. It's the problem of everybody being on hold on standard for a month that is an issue for me. People are now rightfully tight-fisted because better mods will be coming. The way the higher mods were announced was not cool. IGN: Fiona_Falconstrike, Geldar_the_Barbarian, Natalie_Fellshadow

" This game started this way. Inflation always happens and then it cools down. It's the best day ever because new items will rise and old items will have their own economy. Time to go back to basics and grind back, buy and sell back, or whatever you got to do. The people crying are those that want their items to stay the top and watch the same items ruin this game over and over. I for one see this game dying with the same mirrored items floating around with nothing new to shoot for. Sorry, but the logic of this like real life is not valid in my mind. The more simple thought is to say life is to short to have the same economy not get rocked and develop a new era of weapons. Like said earlier, it's a risk now as well to those that want to craft with the threat/paranoia that GGG can change values of items at anytime. This is the best thing ever. |

" Personally, I am OK with the new mods. They are good. And I agree with you, if there is a new, more difficult content, we need more powerful mods. But combinig the new mods with current functionality of the mirror is disastrous. Current situation for 90% of the perma-league players: I need a good item. I can craft it but I need 5,000 currency to do it and obviously I don't have that kind of currency. I see someone selling the item I want with almost perfect mods for only 350 currency but it is mirrored. So I buy it. This will not change after the new mods. The boring, the uncreative, the not-fun "Buying-mirrored-is-cheaper-than-crafting-so-I-don't-craft" circle will continue. Before 2.0: Only very few players have 50,000 currency. They craft the T1 item with their wealth and mirror it again and again for profit. After 2.0: Only very few players have 50,000 currency. They craft the T1 item with their wealth and mirror it again and again for profit. See? |
