Vaal Fragment Changes in 1.2.4d
gj... anyone trying to vorici 6l a corrupt item, HAVE FUN!
besides this stupid change doesn't really affect hardcore mapping that much, but it will still raise the price of vaal orbs... |

" I was thinking about this, and is a good idea, but why not have Corrupted maps, drop only corrupted maps? Or maybe if not 100%, make it like 80% chance of maps to be corrupted in corrupted maps? Also, go a step further, and all current corrupt zones, any maps dropped in them be corrupted as well. IGN:Axe_Crazy

I get the feeling very few people have read the thread and are just unleashing their honest opinions. There is nothing wrong with that. But, I feel inclined, once again, to prove them wrong. This is a very cheap and effective way to farm fragments if one desires to do so. Just look at these maps.
As I read the change, it is a chance per corrupted boss. Which means that these three maps have the ability to drop potentially six fragments at a time. Since they're level 68 maps, they're also extremely inexpensive. Compared to grinding lower level zones looking for corrupted zones, this is far simpler. I'll say it one more time, the only folks I think that should be frowning at this change are hardcore players that are afraid to vaal maps because of risk of death. |

Even those 3 rolls/maps are probably barely/not worth the 3 vaal orbs (+alts) investment, at least taking into account current vaal drop rates (how much other maps that don't have 3 bosses). Still, they're good examples of how to maximise the use when not used on cartos etc.

So don't roll the twinned mod on them. People complain that a vaal orb only gets them maybe one fragment back which means they lose currency. Three bosses alone means they can take one of those fragments and use it to get their currency back. I'd also like to know how rolling a mod like that is any different than typical map running. And I offered it as an alternative cheap way to do it. You could very well do it with bazaar/courtyard maps. Those are much more expensive though.

" Damn, that's like.. Moving from farming a 62 zone to farming 68 zones that you have to buy, using 3c orbs on them, rolling them for a specific mod and still having a chance to get less than you invested. I'm sure that's revolutionary. It might be profitable until vaal orbs go even higher in price because of it, but that's not even what bothers me about your idea. What bothers me is that you're happy with farming more nearly useless low level content that museum maps are. (sure, they're considered endgame, but characters above 85 won't get any XP from them) Now, you could argue that people could do the same with courtyards and bazaars, but nobody is going to corrupt double boss courtyards, and I suspect that nobody is going to do it with bazaars either. Why the hell would anyone take a chance to rip maps worth more than the average amount of fragments that would drop from the map, and waste a vaal orb in the process?

" Can't agree more -_- |

Bazaar is trash map anyway, annoying cluttered layout that takes too much time to fully clear, with mobs being stuck in obstacles all over the place. It's a perfect candidate for vaaling and still be considered playing high endgame.
People who trade a lot will continue to buy frags, because economy on this change does not compute. People who dont trade (much) will have an additional source of frags, that is way better than bruteforcing Docks & Archives. It's not the real solution and I'd like to see CZs spawn in maps sometime, but still helpfull a bit. (and I hope GGG will stay clear of this desing in the future: having high lvl players to do chores in -30 level zones, to be able to get to high content -_-) When night falls

" I'm level 93, and yes, I intend to run those maps, not because they give me good XP, but because they're fast. It is also a proof of concept. " I can understand not wanting to RIP bazaars/courtyards as much as not ripping Museums. But you missed the entire point. The point was that this would be a cheap and easy way to farm fragments. For the low cost of 3 transmutes (negligible), 30-40 alts(3-4 chaos), and 3 vaal orbs(5-6ish chaos and probably rising) you can potentially make 4 complete sacrifice sets. That's less than what one full set currently sells for. Is it a profitable juncture? Well depends on how the market reacts to the change. But your major problem is that I'm willing to do a level 68 map to make a quick progression to Atziri? What's so bad about getting 6 fragments all at once, even if it is in a crappy map. By the way, if you look back a few posts, I'd rather they put the corrupted zones in maps too. But I don't understand what all the problem is with this update. It seems to me that it's going to make it significantly easier to get sacrifice fragments. |
