Vaal Fragment Changes in 1.2.4d

My idea:

Allow us to "supercorrupt" a map, by using the recipe: map + frag + vaal orb.

Such map would have:

- intrinsic 100% increased monster damage (ads no quantity bonus)
- intrinsic 100% increased monster life (ads no quantity bonus)
- regular set of map mods (ads usual quantity bonus per mod)
- a quantity penalty of say -50, calculated after all quantity bonuses apply
- intrinsic "rare & unique monsters have a chance* to drop a sacrifice fragment" mod

* the chance to drop a sac frag, should be dynamically calculated, depending on map level, so that running a corrupted 78 map, would give you a lot more chances to get fragments than a 66.

The quantity penalty also constitutes a trade off between running a map for map & item drops, vs running it for frag drops.

Not impressed.. at all. Good thing is you recognize there is a problem, but the solution sucks. As mentioned by others, you need to increase vaal orbs droprate and "bring back carto boxes" cause i havent seen one for ages, because corrupting carto boxes seems like the only way to get a decent supply of corrupted maps.
Guess we will have to see how many fragments are dropped from these "corrupted" bosses before we call this a complete fail, but im not too optimistic.

Nah, those games don't decide one shot game design without the most powerful items is the best game design either, or even enjoyable.

I'm slowly losing interest in the game genre I love because of game developers that want us to play their way.

Torchlight doesn't.. they know how it works. Despite the hours weeks or hours played into this game or even Diablo 3.. people still play torchlight 1 now.. torchlight 2 now... because users can create content for them. I'm sick of developers telling us how we should play..

This game has gone 3 years now (an est..). They can only churn out so many more aura looks, so many more skin weapons or hideout items I've already seen in the game before. If they want me to keep playing they need to keep me interested. That isn't going to happened by gating content which was an expansion prior.
you talk about Stuff getting boring, but there are still only 2 78 Maps, 2 77 maps, and 3 76 maps (the others dont realy count anymore afaik) so the whole endgame is in 4 (7 if you count 76's too) different maps that need to be done thousand of times.

Excellent solution to this problem GGG. People keep complaining of course but it doesn't matter. We were all asking for something like this for months and once again the solution is here. You keep listening to your community's requests all these years. People just seem to forget that this is an extremely rare treat in gaming industry. Thanks for this

During the last months the main request of an extremely large number of POE players was this: "GGG I don't want to get distracted from my end game content(maping) and get forced to farm low level areas for Vaal fragments in order to do Attziri"
GGG has just implemented Vaal frag drops in end game content and yet you still complaining. I will not look at your past posts but I'm pretty sure I could find your name in several of the threads that were asking for Vaal drops in maps. Same goes for most of the people complaining here.

I don't know what build you play but half of the high maps i have vaaled turned unplayable due to insane mods. Even the map itself isn't guaranteed to remain the same after vaal. I can do this for fun,but not for getting vaal fragments.
Most people aren't opposite to this change,who ever wants can vaal their maps. It's just not an alternative to farming docks. Not everyone has insane builds and endless currency.
Unplayable courtyard is 1 ex and 1 vaal lost. The risk is too high for the reward.
they should drop from every boss. but this is also a good idea to drop them from corrupted map bosses. GG GGG
i just hope they up the drop rate of vaal orbs to the previous ones. they were so fun to use. could make a disaster or a miracle.

if you can pop them on maps it will make it more fun too. more experienced players can challenge themselves with 6mod maps early in the league to get that extra xp/loot edge over others.
