Hello, could you please tell me if it would be viable to put some final points into Battle Rouse passive node ? I'm talking HC beyond league. It seems it would synergize well with MoM/EB. Thanks in advance.
I'll explain why I decided against Battle Rouse:

Battle Rouse results in 28% mana and 3% damage restores mana if I recall correctly. Ignoring the 28% mana (since there are plenty of other mana node options), the 3% damage to mana would have to equate to a significant amount of mana regen for it to be worthwhile.

If you take in an average of x DPS per second, block will drop that to x/4 damage per second. Ignoring AA (which would obviously decrease the effectiveness of Battle Rouse), BR will restore x/4*.03 mana per second, or .0075% of your damage intake per second. This means if you take in 1000 DPS, you're getting 7.5 mana back per second.

To put this value into perspective, hitting an elemental reflect rare in an elemental reflect map using dual-curse for resistance-shredding will reflect anywhere from 1.1k DPS to 1.7k per mob using my current setup, pre-MoM, which means at best Battle Rouse will restore 13 mana/s when attacking an elemental reflect rare in an elemental reflect map. That's nothing compared to something simple like a 20% mana regen node. Even Dynamo can drop Arc's cost and give you more pseudo-manaregen than Battle Rouse in this situation.

Battle Rouse is ideal for those really hard, unblocked smashes (I'm talking 5000-6000 damage smashes). However, it's not going to change whether or not you'll survive the smash, it'll just boost your immediate recovery. That immediate recovery is worse than long-term mana regen since hard smashes like those are never done in succession such that the 150-175 restored mana will actually make a difference in your mana pool's sustainability relative to mana regen.

I know I might not be making much sense here, but the reality is that this build benefits very poorly from on-damage effects (e.g. CWDT) since their effectiveness is reduced by a factor of 4. In fact, the build scales better off of on-block effects (tempest shield) so running a 900-damage tempest shield with mana leech will restore 45 mana per block, or an average of 135 mana per 4 hits. The catch here is that running ML on TS costs absolutely nothing, whereas Battle Rouse takes 3 points. For recovery from really hard hits, mana regen is always the way to go.

Allright. Thanks a lot for the in-depth response man. By the way, great built/guide, really enjoying it.

Do you feel that the upgrade from Cybil's Paw to Doryani's Catalyst is worth the approx 5ex cost? Note that it would leave me pretty much completely broke :).

I've upgraded 1 day ago, so my 1 day experiences: sheet dps boost from 4k to 4.6k, some life leech, faster casting.. I also paid 5ex, i feel like it worth, since one day you will need upgrade anyway, of course if it all of your currency, you can wait some days more, since i tracked the prices, they go from 6-7ex to 4.5-5ex in just 2 days for Catalyst, tending to drop a bit more in my opinion, since more players farm higher maps
Thanks Matematikas, exactly the sort of info I was looking for. I think I'll hold out for a while, either until prices drop or I have more funds. I should really start selling on xyz ... that would probably help. I've bought a lot of mid priced gear I've ended up not needing.
It's hard to sell average things, just uniques, good roll items.. :) But still some profit of course. Nolifing a bit this weekend, hope ill manage to swap to main version, need to spend some currency at xyz :D
Hey, I am currently leveling your build, kinda fun and I cannot wait to get into maps to see how it compares to my flicker striker.

Do you think it's worthwile trying to 5link this chest so I can spend the points for MoM elsewhere?

I'm slightly confused - my current tree gives me 61% block with Rathpith Globe and I only have another 9% to get according to the build in the first post, I can't see where the other 4% comes from. Also on the poebuilder site it only shows the build as giving +40% block chance in total.

*edit - ugh I was in town and forgot about the 4% from Tempest Shield.

Quick question. Is it worth taking the 2% chance to block passive above "Aegis"? It makes us cap the block instead of having 74% which as side bonus gives an extra 6% spell dmg from cybil's paw (it only adds the spell damage for every 5%, the info in the guide that you get 89% is wrong so you will jump from 84% to 90% with this passive) and also means that you need a 50% rathpith instead of 51% which may sound kinda useless but in rare cases might be good.

Hey KuteKitteh!

Thank you for sharing your build with us!

I tried it as my first character in beyond and just RIP'd at lvl 71. Got oneshot but was actually my bad, and my gear still included stuff i got in act 2 normal :)

Now i know a little more about your build and i want to give it another shot.
But i have a 2 questions:

My damage fell off very very badly on lvl 60-71. You mentioned it already in your guide, plus you rate defense higher than DPS and i agree. I'm still worried about slowrolling all maps and having a hard time finding a group because of "lower" dps.
Your videos are lvl 72-74 maps, i cant tell how much harder a 77/78 map is but could you post a video doing a high level map?

Why did you pick Arc over Ball Lightning? I personally like the playstyle of Ball Lightning more, do you think i could run it instead of Arc without any increased area nodes?

Thank you again for sharing your great build!

Greetings!

For the CWDT/IC/EC combo, I have a 4th link available (green). Any recommendations? For now I've stuck a portal gem in there just to see if it would work. It does! Every time this combo is triggered, a town portal opens, offering me a quick get away if I need (rarely do of course). It has the nice side effect of making people I party with go WTF is with all the TPs?!?!?

Usually it's cheaper to buy a 6S5L CoD.

Oh yes, I did test that and I was wrong there, I should fix it when I have time. Anyways, it's somewhat worth it if you're running Cybil's but otherwise completely unnecessary.

If Arc has bad single-target DPS, Ball lightning is complete trash against single-target. Just not a big fan of it, really. Also, I like Arc because I don't even have to aim, I just walk into a crowd and hold Q until everything's dead. Pretty nice to mindlessly play and have Arc autotarget everything for me. You can absolutely run BL (or any spell for that matter) using the build as long as you take the appropriate elemental wheels and socket the right support gems.

Also, were you still on a 4L? Best way to keep DPS up is via using a 5L or slotting it on a Geofri's. DPS is tied heavily to gem levels so you might want to keep your level (and thus your gem level) significantly above the area level. Also, using a decent wand/scepter and getting a Rathpith up is priority, if you hadn't already done so.

Honestly no good greens for CWDT. All I can think of is Detonate Dead.
