[1.2] KuteKitteh’s Tanky Arcer, 20k+ Effective DPS, Atziri/HC-viable. Poor-man’s BM Arc included

@Marlenus, BBBB Geofri's is very easy to roll. It should take you one stack of chromes tops, maybe 2 on a bad streak. But thanks for the feedback.

@Randall, if you already have a Rathpith then grab EB asap and later MoM.

@Ark, hybrid armor-ES items are OKish. The only problem is that the build scales very poorly off of armor. If you have some swell armor hybrid pieces, at best you will end up with 2k armor, which only mitigates 167 damage at most. The greater priority would be to get more ES to support a higher level of AA and increase the mana pool to a comfortable level for tanking those super hard hits.

I know I have a ton of hybrid gear, I just like using compatible pieces that can run various color configurations at whim so I can reuse the same pieces of armor for various builds. All of my hybrid gear has mana anyways, which is the point.

Started a char on beyond with this build today(BM version since it's my only char there) and it looks good so far but I got 3 questions.

1) Why on ball lighning with CoH you suggest ele weakness+warlord's mark? Conductivity lowers more lightning resist than ele weakness and gives shock chance for lightning spells so why not Conductivity+Warlord's Mark?

2) When is spell totem usefull? So far white-blue packs melt anyway so I feel like I waste time putting it down, not to mention that if it's a decently big pack (which I believe that's its purpose for prolif?) it instadies all the time. The only times I end up having it up is when I fight bosses and those Beyond rares that just don't want to die but I dont think it does much there because it's single target anyway.

3)If I get it right when I have the Rathpith+Lazhwar with +1curse it's safe to switch to the main spec or is Rathpith enough on its own?

Flame totem needs that EW since we can't run fire pen. It helps a ton with single target DPS if you can lower both fire and light res. (Also, if you ever do party play, it's just the polite thing to do. It's selfish to run single-curse conductivity or flammability or whatever.)

Totems supplement Arc's sole weakness, which is poor single-target DPS. That's why I recommend running an LMP/GMP flame totem to massively boost single-target DPS. A flame totem on a 4L can easily compete with the single-target DPS of an Arc on a 5L.

Rathpith is enough on its own. You can just use a Doedre's or Windscream for the +1 curse.

Hi, already reached level 85 and tomorrow after a work i want to switch from BM arcer to main version, but i think i need gear upgrade and some more questions:
1. What should i improve of my gear to run main build?
2. Does 1 mana regeneration ring is enough, to sustain that build, since 2nd one is +1 curse, and i "must have" it?
3. What additional rolls should i look for on mana regen ring?
4. How big mana pool should be, to run build close to smooth? (Or smooth of course). I got mana regen formula, so i should do some calculation/theorycrafting what gear upgrades/mods i should get to reach that mana pool.
My current gear look so:
Spoiler
FWIW, I started with the +1 curse on the ring, but found it to be a complete waste of an item since the other attributes were not particularly useful. I then went for the boots which also come with useful resists. That 2nd ring is important for the mana regen and possibly additional resists.

Obviously the ideal is the corrupt ammy, but there isn't a single one with +1 curse on xyz right now. I bought a few and tried to make my own but ended up just wasting my $$.
decided to try atziri and it went overall smooth the first two bosses was quite easy but i died once on atziri on her splitphase but it was my first time and i didnt really know what she does but now i do thanks for awesome build
@Matematikas
1/3. Your ring should definitely be way better. I highly advise that you take the burden of resists off the ring so you can use a ring with over 50% mana regen. Life is secondary and resists come 3rd on rings.
2. I ran the build with a 30-something and 40-something percent roll rings so I had 80% total. It's completely doable with 50-80, but if you're concerned about mana regen then I recommend you take a look at getting some Windscreams so you can stack two mana regen rings.
4. 2.5-3k mana is a good benchmark for "smooth." Over 3k is recommended but not necessary, you would just have to drop a 60% aura or stick to Disc instead of Haste.

@Zippaca
Yea, block allows the build to just plow straight through the first two bosses, and only Atziri's split can really pose a danger. Her split phase takes a ton of practice and know-how to manage totems while dodging flameblasts/stormcalls and arcing against the mirror. Glad you did fine though.

Hello, could you please tell me if it would be viable to put some final points into Battle Rouse passive node ? I'm talking HC beyond league. It seems it would synergize well with MoM/EB. Thanks in advance.

I'll explain why I decided against Battle Rouse:

Battle Rouse results in 28% mana and 3% damage restores mana if I recall correctly. Ignoring the 28% mana (since there are plenty of other mana node options), the 3% damage to mana would have to equate to a significant amount of mana regen for it to be worthwhile.

If you take in an average of x DPS per second, block will drop that to x/4 damage per second. Ignoring AA (which would obviously decrease the effectiveness of Battle Rouse), BR will restore x/4*.03 mana per second, or .0075% of your damage intake per second. This means if you take in 1000 DPS, you're getting 7.5 mana back per second.

To put this value into perspective, hitting an elemental reflect rare in an elemental reflect map using dual-curse for resistance-shredding will reflect anywhere from 1.1k DPS to 1.7k per mob using my current setup, pre-MoM, which means at best Battle Rouse will restore 13 mana/s when attacking an elemental reflect rare in an elemental reflect map. That's nothing compared to something simple like a 20% mana regen node. Even Dynamo can drop Arc's cost and give you more pseudo-manaregen than Battle Rouse in this situation.

Battle Rouse is ideal for those really hard, unblocked smashes (I'm talking 5000-6000 damage smashes). However, it's not going to change whether or not you'll survive the smash, it'll just boost your immediate recovery. That immediate recovery is worse than long-term mana regen since hard smashes like those are never done in succession such that the 150-175 restored mana will actually make a difference in your mana pool's sustainability relative to mana regen.

I know I might not be making much sense here, but the reality is that this build benefits very poorly from on-damage effects (e.g. CWDT) since their effectiveness is reduced by a factor of 4. In fact, the build scales better off of on-block effects (tempest shield) so running a 900-damage tempest shield with mana leech will restore 45 mana per block, or an average of 135 mana per 4 hits. The catch here is that running ML on TS costs absolutely nothing, whereas Battle Rouse takes 3 points. For recovery from really hard hits, mana regen is always the way to go.

Do you feel that the upgrade from Cybil's Paw to Doryani's Catalyst is worth the approx 5ex cost? Note that it would leave me pretty much completely broke :).
