No. In your own basic Hybrid (Health/ES) build you need 3 points for Doom Cast. You don't need the int point, because you don't get CI, and you reach Natural Calm and Fitness via the Might point and the life node.

So the Doom Cast crit chance is really no other drit chance than normal crit chance (for spells)? Ok, than that doesn't really make sense to avoid Bloot Thirst but go for Doom Cast.


That hybrid build wasn't mine, it was a friends. I'll look into it.

how do you cope with extremely high physical burst, like flicker strike mobs with increased phys. damage and increased phys crit?

im playing a similar build right now, which works like a charm (lvl 66) but some mobs kick my ass :(

my freeze pulse + spork totem (shock stack) hybrid build

main reason for me to go freeze pulse and spork is cause i get bored quickly and freezing shock stacked mobs will make them freeze forever pretty much :D

also: whats your current armor/evasion rating? (thinking about getting a pure armor shield and the shield passives above the templar tree atm)

i am running clarity, discipline and purity and am at 77% all res, no mana problems whatsovever

Quicksilver flask and kite, that's all I can say. Flicker strike mobs/fast mobs are the bane of witches (in most cases).

Never played a hybrid witch, so I can't help you on anything else.

Things are tough for almost every build until the 30's, the ice crit witch doesnt start really being effective till mid 30's when you have a bunch of es nodes, two ice damage areas filled out, and a crit cluster and +40% spell crit. Once you get those things start freezing much more often and meele mobs become cake (elemental ranged spammers will continue being annoying till later levels with lots of resists on gear).
Guys i need your help. I cant decide between cold penetration vs crit multiplir gem

Currently at lvl 79 my damage stats:
5.3kish paper dps with FP - lmp - crit damage - fast casting - mana leech
3.25cast per second / 30.1 % crit chance / 700% crit dmg multiplier

With cold pen instead of crit damage i have 4444 listed dps with lmp and fast casting but cold penetration (level 2 imo)

Pros and cons of cold penetration vs crit damage?

I think cold pen is better only for ES mobs but i have no idea. I cant test myself due to difficulty of getting BBGGG on my chest already spent 80 crhomes and im out. Thanks in advance

Question: Why the preference of LMP over GMP? I have been running the later for 68 levels, maybe i have missed something? Thanks.

Cold penetration will give you something like ~33% overall damage increase.*
Because this is applied after everything else : it multiplied all your damage.

* If the mob have 0% cold resist. On a 75% cold resist mob, cold penetration will give you
something like a 130% damage increase !
You deal 25% damage on a mob with 75% resist without ColdPen
You deal 58% of your damage on a mob with 75% resist with ColdPen (75%resist - 33% = 42% effective resistance !)

And it scale with Frosbite / Elemental weakness :)

Cold Penetration >>>>> Critical damage increase.


For the Chaos Inoculation users, I recommend you a Blood rage lvl 1.
With the extra Frenzy charge of the Shadow tree (was on my path for the second nullification node) and the extra Frenzy charge from bandits in Merciless, it is 25% fastcast.
Better than haste, and no drawback (the %life damage is deal as chaos, so with CI...)

Thank you so much Felkor, it seems i would deal more average damage with cold pen instead of crit multiplier. So far i have spent more than 200 chromatics. Is just stupid how much bad luck i got. So i cant give it a try until i find a GGGBB ES Vaal Regalia or maybe when i got 600-700 chroms
