1.1.0 Incinerate Atziri Farmer
" As soon as I get back to my PC and have the ability to record I definitely will. In fact, I'll make it a separate post and preserve the life based Incinerate build for people who prefer it. The problem is that won't happen until a week after FM is released. I have 2 more weeks as of now until I get back and have the option to record. I can't even play PoE right now, which sucks. @Rockstopper
Hey man, it's cool that you like that build and took some time to try and improve the tree. Nothing about this guide is 100% perfect and I appreciate the effort. I'll try to answer some of your questions as fully as I can. 1. "With average-to-good gear consisting of a 450ES shield, 700ES chest, 380ES helmet" By that statement I was trying to imply that those were more like the core pieces of a CI build, in the calculation I included other things such as 140ES Rainbowstride boots, 200ES on gloves, 40ES on ring, 40ES from passives and +110% from shield nodes incase that was overlooked. 365% increased ES from passives x 1.15 from CI 700ES chest, 380ES helmet, 945ES shield (shield nodes), 200ES gloves, 140ES Rainbowstride, 40ES ring, 40ES passives, 567ES Discipline. 3012 Base ES total. 3012 x 4.65 = 14,005ES 14,005 x 1.15 = 16,105ES (a little over 16k) This doesn't Include INT from gear, %from amulet if you decide to use one, better gear since 700ES is pretty low for a CI chest imo, and other small improvements you can make to the passive tree. With insane gear you could potentially manage 20,000ES but that requires mirror-tier gear. Too end-game for me. 2. Not for this build since you 100% need Athleticism to reach 80% aura increase. I'll talk more about auras in your next question and why it is core but for now ES is the concern. The Shadows's ES/Eva cluster is a good path in terms of getting mana regen/s and ES as well as +30 INT. However, Path of Savant is such a strong node and I would not spec out of it but instead look elsewhere to remove points. Path of Savant grants 16% spell damage, +20 INT (which is +4%ES) and 30 flat mana total. From one node that is insane and fits every aspect of the build. I would rather look into only removing two 6% ES nodes near Path of Savant and two 6%ES/4%life nodes near Written in Blood. With those 4 points you can either spec into Melding, which gives more ES and is more point efficient. Or pursuing the Shadow cluster instead for some mana regen. Honestly, I think mana regen should come from grabbing the deep thoughts nodes above the Witch and sticking to gaining as much ES as possible from the amount of points we have to spend. There are 100 ways of doing what I have described, if it works for you then don't let me stop you from doing it. 3. 97% resistances with flask and no Saffell's Frame comes from using level 23 PoF and PoL auras mainly. 13% flask resistances 9% purity auras 75% regular resistances 97% fire resistance, 98% lightning if you include the passive tree lightning node. Honestly, the changes put more emphasis on those flask nodes than ever since they are really strong ways of scaling max resistances for free basically. 4. With the new passive tree I would say as soon as you can afford a 400ES chest, 150ES shield and 200ES helmet. Even less if you have a good level Discipline and aura nodes. It is hard to tell without having played it yet, we will have to wait and see. This is my prediction. 5. Leveling is going to wait until release I think, I would 100% recommend that you do not level as this build but rather respec into it at around level 70 like my previous Incinerator. Not only is it easier, but it makes everything much more simple to understand. Level as Flameblast/whatever and clear content up to merciless. Kill piety, farm to 70 and respec. Simple. If you have your heart set on leveling as CI then I can't really help you there without playing it myself. Hopefully that all helped you, it gave me something to do while I wait until I can play the game again. Good luck. :) Also, someone asked about how I will sustain during Atziri fights. I take zero damage with flasks up and 100% resists. This means that with 1 or 2 flask doses I can regenerate ES for free since the passive regen will begin after 5 seconds. My flasks last for 5 seconds. (4.2 x 1.18 seconds because flask nodes). Doryani's leeching and high ES means I will never hit leech cap, so everything gets leeched without penalty hopefully. Thanks a lot for your detailed answer, that was very informative. I now have a better understanding of why you chose to spec that way.
Didn't know you could get so much ES on other gear pieces. Also makes a lot of sense to grab Athleticism for that +5% increased buff effect to get another 1% maximum resistance from Purities. By the way, regarding one of your earlier posts, I don't think the implicit block on shields is going to be lowered with the next patch, the misunderstanding probably comes from an early mistranslation of the Garena patch notes - only the 'Block Chance Reduction' gem will get its chance to reduce block lowered, I believe. However, you're still right in the sense that trying to achieve high block now comes at a higher passive investment, one that might be too hefty for a life-based build along with the new life nodes nerf. I was still uncertain whether I should roll a life-based high block Scion version, but I think I'll follow your build instead. Anyway, thanks again. I'm pretty excited at the prospect of trying this build in the upcoming expansion. Cheers! |

How do you plan to kill Atziri before you get Doryani's Catalyst?

" I'm yet to try the CI version but there are two things I think will enable the build to still do the Atziri fight. Linking a Life Leech gem instead of blind as the sixth link to make up for the lack of Doryani's items. It will give a lot of sustain since the high ES pool means the leeching limit shouldn't apply. We also regenerate ES in just under 5 seconds of not taking damage. With flask nodes our flasks last for 5 seconds (4.2 x 1.12) and grant 100% resistances. You should be able to regenerate ES normally just from the flask immunity, or at least recharge a few thousand ES before the immunity expires. 2 Flask doses should put you at full ES. Corrupting lightning/fire leech on our amulet also helps, but +1% max resistances is much more useful with better gear. " Thank you very much for your response I'm planning on trying this build out in the new 3 month and was just wondering about that :) |

" Please correct me if I'm wrong, but don't you need only 70% aura increase to hit +9% max resist with a level 23 Purity? 0.05 * 1.7 = 0.085 ~ 0.09 |

" Sorry to nitpick, but if I follow the formula indicated in http://pathofexile.gamepedia.com/Energy_shield, the ES recharge delay is actually only ~4.14 seconds; 45% faster start of ES recharge is provided by the tree. I don't understand where you get the 1.8 multiplier on flask duration, though. The only nodes that increase flask effect duration that I find are the Alchemist one (+12%) in the Witch cluster and Druidic Rite (+20%) down the Ranger area which is out of reach. 4.2*1.12 ~= 4.70 seconds which should give you half a second to recharge ES per flask use, theoretically. You could grab the Essence Surge cluster to bring the delay down to ~2.8 seconds but I'm not sure if that's worth 4 points. Am I wrong? " I'm fairly sure the game rounds down the +% maximum resistance obtained by a Purity aura when taking into account aura effectiveness. In that sense, having +60% or +79% aura effectiveness will result in the same +8% maximum resistance with a with a level 23 Purity. Last edited by Rockstopper#3669 on Aug 16, 2014, 8:04:40 PM

" It was a typo, I was supposed to type 1.12 there, sorry. 4.2 x 1.12 = 4.704 Which is essentially a 5 second duration on our resistance flasks. Flasks should last longer than the ES cooldown is what I was getting at in the post. IGN: SlightRedeye (GMT + 0:00) Last edited by SlightRedeye#1935 on Aug 16, 2014, 11:29:44 PM
