Auto making a remove-only stash tab a regular tab needs to be stopped

Chris stated:

"We recently made a change where the contents of a remove-only tab are automatically moved into a new stash tab as one is purchased. This was primarily to fix a technical problem, but happens to also help users who purchase a lot of stash tabs when challenge leagues end and don't want to have to move the items across one at a time."

So in Standard League where I already have 30 premium stash tabs plus many read-only tabs from previous 4 month leagues if I buy another Premium Stash Tab bundle then 6 of my read-only tabs with be converted to normal use tabs. GGG hasn't fully thought that change through properly (just like many other flawed logic. Is southern Hemisphere thinking opposite of northern hemisphere?). I like the fact that I can keep the gear and orbs migrated from the 4 month leagues in read-only tabs and use/move any item to a regular tab any time I choose. When I buy another 6 tabs I don't want them to be immediately filled with items from old read-only tabs. I want 6 new empty tabs that I can fill with whatever I want! If I end up with 6 read-only tabs converted then I don't get 6 new empty tabs and I have to throw away items that I want to keep. I see this as especially bad with my orb stash tabs as I don't want a full read-only tab of orbs becoming a normal tab as I'd just have a full normal tab with no place to store new orbs.

I have to tell you GGG that this change is crapola! It helps some players so they don't need to manually move every item from their read-only tab to a newly purchased tab but leaves those who want to keep their orbs and gear in the read-only tabs and use them only when needed and have 100% empty new tabs to put new orbs and gems in screwed. And what 6 read-only tabs will be chosen when I have more than 6 read-only tabs? Are you going to randomly pick 6 just like I found out last year when I decided to upgrade 6 regular tabs to 6 premium tabs and I didn't get to choose which 6 tabs got upgraded and PoE picked 6 different tabs out of the 24 I had back then in each of the 3 leagues I was playing.

You need to give us a choice here. Some will want to opt for taking 6 read-only tabs and convert them to full use tabs. Others like myself want 6 new empty tabs and keep the read-only items where they are. Right now this leaves me with no reason to buy more tabs as these new tabs will be partially or mostly full right from the get-go. And no, using this as a ploy to get me to buy even more tabs until I have all my read-only tabs converted and then any extra new tabs will be empty is also crapola and I won't be buying any until you fix this.

Edit: changed read-only to remove-only in title (not changing everywhere else). My bad.

you really must be bored if you have nothing better to complain about. cut poor ggg a break they can only do so much. the system they have works so why fix whats not broken.
read only tabs a meant to be for temporary use not permanent use. to be honest i think they should make all temp tabs have a 30 day expiration period and after that all items in tab get deleted.

This is exactly why they made this change, it wasn't for convenience or any BS like that, it was to stop people from using the RO tabs as storage for months after league's end.

They would much rather you buy new stash tabs than abuse the read only ones, and who can blame them?

No way Jose! I do not want to buy 6 new tabs only to find out that the new tabs are partially full from the start. It's bad enough that the average poor PoE loyalist has to put up with very poor item progression and overly massive grind time at high levels just to acquire orbs and gems. That's a given for this arpg and I accept that to play here. But to then expect me to not be able to keep my 4 month league items in the read-only tabs and force me to have newly purchased ones be converted read-only tabs is stupid. If I had known this change was being made I should have bought 2 or 3 of the premium stash tab bundles on the last sale before the change, gotten 18 100% empty tabs, and then as Ambush and future 4 month leagues end get the read-only tabs + have empty tabs that I can choose to fill however I want to. I do not consider the tabs moved over at the end of the 4 month leagues as temporary and should not be forced to have my valuable Standard League stash space automatically used up that way. Nor should I be forced to have to buy more stash space just because of a GGG change they hadn't thought through completely. "Free to Play" is one thing and my decision to financially support GGG by buying additional stash space should not be limited by this change. Hey, I bought the space and didn't create addition accounts to use as mules. I'm not cheap like others who do that. I've stated in other posts my ultimate desire to become a Champion Supporter when the 99% PoE loyalists (of which I am squarely in the middle between newbie and the 1% elite players) get more much needed end game buffs (more ways to craft and more crafting orb drops) and better item progression for the non-commodity traders (or a public stash trade system to make trading a painless game mechanic).

Hey, I cut GGG plenty of slack. I've stopped wishing and posting for less desync as I know that GGG is in the proverbial "between a rock and a hard place" with no easy way out of that problem (can't cross that ocean). I know that GGG is a very small indie company with very limited human resources so certain game features take more time and some things get lower priority and thus aren't done yet (like the official trading system). But this change when I buy new stash space is not logical. I got the opposite reaction from players last year when I upgraded to premium stash tabs and found out that GGG randomly picked a group of 6 tabs to upgrade. I wanted my orbs and gems and rings labeled and colored for quick access but was told to "just manually swap them around" to get 2 orb, 3 gem, and 1 ring tabs into the 6 other randomly upgraded gear tabs that were made premium tabs. Yes, I could do that and it all worked out in the end as with GGGs help (thank you very much Chris) I ended up with all my tabs being premium and will only buy premium when i want to expand my storage space. So the same thing can be said here. You buy new stash tabs, they are empty, you then move the items in your read-only tab to the new tab, the old read-only tab is gone as it is empty, and you are done. I decide to leave my stuff in the read-only tab and use the newly purchased tab for new items as I play more. I got slammed last your for not wanting to have to move all my gems and orbs and gear around to get the gems, orbs, and rings tabs into the premium tabs that were assigned to various gear tabs so why aren't the players that don't want to have to manually move the items in a read-only tab to a newly purchased tab not being treated the same way as I was last year. I'm being wronged and I am letting GGG know how I feel.

If GGG wants us to view these read-only tabs as temporary only then there needs to be an official policy posted on this and the read-only tabs have a limited time, let's say 1 month, to be moved to a normal tab otherwise it gets locked and I won't be able to use anything stored there. Then, and only then, I'll need to buy a new stash tab with the ability to personally pick (no auto random picking crap) which of the locked read-only tabs I convert and get unlocked and become a normal tab.

honestly i skimmed through your recent posts and you just seem like another typical troll just looking for someone to listen to you. as of rite now the tab purchasing process works exactly how they intended it to.

+1

or make it IMPOSSIBLE to link items from read-only tabs. i bet 95% of people complaining would immediately sort their stuff. because these are mostly used for trading gear from 4m leagues to 'scrubs' in standard. FOR FREE.

My thought on this if officially GGG wants the read-only tabs to be temporary is a 1 month time period to use them, after which they are locked but not deleted (deleting anything automatically will certainly elicit rage posts), and a new tab must be purchased (or maybe the player can decide to delete the whole read-only tab completely and throw away everything in it) to convert it to a normal full use tab again.

Who are you to call me a troll? GGG can code PoE in whatever the hell way they want to and I can choose to play PoE or not (as millions of dead accounts attest to). It's a "free to play" or not game. I am a PoE loyalist and as such I shouldn't be driven out just because GGG decided at the start to make PoE "free to play" but now regrets that decision (hopefully not) and by this change is making us buy more stash tabs just to generate revenue. As I stated, I personally have no problem if GGG wants the read-only tabs to be temporary and I will need to buy more tabs or lose the ability to use an item in a read-only tab after a month of the end of a 4 month league or race. They just need to make an official policy statement to this effect and not make a change that on the surface seems quite innocuous but when examined closely is a sneaky way to generate more revenue. I just want GGG to be honest and up front on this. I'll buy more premium tabs on the next sale (I'm updating the Daily Deals spreadsheet so I'm not just a lame troll) and just want GGG to make an official statement and clarify this matter. That is all.
