A Veteran's Proposal for a Self Found League - Poll Included!

I see no issues with a SFL, however it would fragment the playerbase even more which is a bad thing. And really, no one forces you to trade.

There would be no change as far as fracturing. The people inclined to play SF are already doing so.

What is wanted, is a way to keep track via a ladder board. Measuring against peers and that sort of thing.

E-peen rankings for the non traders :D

If that's the case, why do they need any special accommodation whatsoever?
When Stephen Colbert was killed by HYDRA's Project Insight in 2014, the comedy world lost a hero. Since his life model decoy isn't up to the task, please do not mistake my performance as political discussion. I'm just doing what Steve would have wanted.

Because it's pain in the ass doing it.
Wish the armchair developers would go back to developing armchairs.

Which means they quit on it. Claiming the people inclined to play SF are currently doing so, assumes there aren't problems with SF; it's as absurd as saying the people inclined to play temporary hardcore leagues are all currently playing Invasion.

There would be no change as far as fracturing. The people inclined to play SF are already trying to do so but are finding game balance and progression difficult with trading as a concern for balance.

There, fixed that. Shall we move on?

No, which means they still like the game but are still suffering from that ass pain and they would like to get rid of it very much, makes for prolonged sitting and playing the game much easier, don'cha know?

This assumes they're still trying to do so in-game. Like I said earlier, quitters. My point still stands.

Look, the league fracturing concern isn't something you can disregard so easily. Hell, even players who have no previous SFL interest whatsoever would try out the league, in droves, just because it's a new league and they try out new leagues on principle.

Now I can't guarantee this would all be doom and gloom. All I'm trying to say is that the idea that this wouldn't affect other leagues, such as how many people there are to trade or party with, is utterly ridiculous. SFL supporters like to think they can make huge changes to the game, but somehow focus those changes solely on a particular play experience, and leave all other play experiences unaffected. It doesn't work like that, and it never will; everything is connected.

I'm not against SF. I'd actually like to see some changes to make SF a bit more viable. However, I am staunchly against a SFL, mostly because of the separate league part. All leagues are part of the game, whatever you do will affect the entire game, so why not just implement such balances changes on a global level?
