Tanking definition
" If I move, I don't need that 180 physical reduction. Where would I move: 1. Towards the monster(s)? If yes, then that 180-220 means nothing. Leap Slam/Lightning Warp/Whirling Blades if you want to prevent that miniscule damage taken for the time traveling. 2. Away from monster(s)? AA is still active for 3-4 sec. The point is, either include AA in both, or in none. EDIT: That is just if one wants that physical reduction vs. non-boss monsters, I've never felt the need of it other than fighting with Megaera or the 3 Courtyard bosses, why I haven't? Armour. Some of you guys are really embarrassing yourselves. Tinko92 himself mentioned he has never played an evasion melee before. Also the fact that you think my build is a TANK on 4K hp is quite funny. My build is NOT a tank - and I have always pointed that out in my guide. Maybe you saw some of my videos and got the wrong impression.
The reason people use my videos is because I am one of the few who has taken evasion melee to that level and posted the videos on it - people like you kept saying evasion could never do end game maps as melee. Well, I proved you guys wrong. Sure maybe I can't do insane mods like -max, GMP Shrine - but that is a SPELL problem and has NOTHING to do with evasion. If I wanted to build a true evasion melee tank I could. But right now evasion is not meant to be played with melee - and anyone can see that when you look at the uniques in the game and skills like IR, Molten Shell, Arctic Armor, CWDT which ALL FAVOR ARMOR. If there is ever an evasion shield like Aegis Aurora - it would be brokenly silly. If there was ever a Cast on Evade gem - that would be sick. If they ever make a node like IR for evasion, that would be sick too. And yes, I would take 100K evasion over 100K armor any day. Again - you have never played a proper evasion melee so you have no idea how it feels to play with a guaranteed chance of not getting hit. Another fun fact - I tried standing in level 78 Dominus Touch of God after I leveled - you would be surprised to hear how many times in a row it missed and did no damage (the number is much higher than you think). At the end of the day, I'd rather just roll with my evasion crit spectral throw and laugh throughout maps. Last edited by Ceryneian on Jan 24, 2014, 8:24:20 AM

I linked your build because tinko insisted evade wasn't able to do endgame. No more no less.

" No, I've said I haven't played an evasion character higher than lvl 92, and before that I've played a hybrid AR/EV with ~40% chance to evade. I've switched to IR+US then. So, you're not playing a tank build, but that build is better in tanking than a tank build? How is that making any sense? (I haven't seen your build, just commenting on the written here) This thread is not about survivability in end game maps, like I've said to Mahesys, you're in a wrong thread too. That's just your personal liking of a build, completely irrelevant with the thread. At the end, if you still state that evasion is better than armour in tanking, provide videos at once, I'm still waiting. " Not true, quote where I've said that. Also, see the bolded part. " Let's see ceryneian wait for touch of god to bypass his evasion and see if he survives it |
|
" I'm sure you will have to wait quite a long time for that and he will probably survive it anyway. |
|
" Watch the courtyard video and see how much his health drops after smacked by a *white* bear |

" Im glad you admit yourself, and this brings me to my next point ... in fact this topique was never rly about eva vs armor, but somehow it progressed to that. " No one ever said evasion cant do those maps, as in run them and survive them. It is evasion, AFTER ALL. Its based on AVOIDING damage. Tanking, ie EATING a hit, is different. I notice you avoid certain mod combos or at least bosses under these mods, on purpose, you will ALWAYS try to wb / warp out of vaal or dominus smash, for example, while Tinko build STAYS and doesnt give a shit if his block says 'no'. I hope you can understand this. " Its still a problem with your build, technically. Arguably, going evasion left you weaker in hp department to sustain the big ele hits these spell bosses are known for. And some spells are physical too, where armor is again superior. And others are chaos, which all it takes is chaos res gear, so its not an issue here. " I never doubted this. WHat happens when you take the hit though? " The whole point of evasion is to ... evade :) Why would you wait for the hit to happen? If your mindset is like this, then of course armor is the only way to go lol. |
