Dota2 is a clone of Dota1, which came out, what, in 2007? But I'll pretend otherwise and nod, "Oh okay, Dota 2 is lightyears ahead of PoE to some people, if you enjoy that sort of 45 mintues of troll-festery popamole."

There are pretty much no other high profile games that have any competent design to them.

To me, PoE is the best game of the year and there wasn't a whole lot of competition to it.

I don't see how my willingness to defend Chris makes me a "fan-boy" -- I'm critical of him in other more important ways. I don't see how it is productive to attack Chris or GGG, either, which is what the lot of you seem to enjoy doing. It won't help a thing to irrationally fling shit at them.

I'd be happy to rally behind constructive criticism - look at fucking Mossifer's posts. I guess we can only expect that kind of quality from the likes of a few dedicated players.

Have you thought that Chris hid the manifesto because it's outdated and many of the topics have been completed? For example one was on how weak melee was at the time yet now everyone is complaining melee is OP. Do you think a new player would have any idea of what the hell Chris was talking about in that thread? Shit, people respond to 2 year old threads with today's context all the time.

Also, anubite tends to do the same thing as I do. Finds threads to disagree with as what's the real reason to say "I agree" then move on. He's not an alpha member out of longevity, I've seen him give critical feedback many times. He just disagrees with YOU, so you think he ALWAYS takes GGG's side. He's being a rational person looking to make the game better through good feedback rather than bashing GGG and hoping they make him happy with his vague demands.

Btw, I'm really not that much of a fan of anubite either, I'm not sure there's many topics we've agreed on and we argue often, here and on the alpha forums (not so much the last few months because he's been away). Objective is: According to data every 20th monster drops a currency item.
Subjective point of view is: Droprates are good/ok/bad.

There is always something which isn't perfect.

In those terms there might even be more than perfect scores for example a test contains questions with stuff the teacher didn't teach yet somebody got this stuff right.

And players are free to use fillers to improve the rarity of a boss.
Pay2Win means the company makes profit of a product.
Nothing prevents you from keeping a filler in the eternal lab and drop items since items won't disappear as long the instance is open.

You ignore that the game is comepletely unfriendly on beginners and the devs do changes for players being veterans in this game.
The game has no risk reward at all.
And who says that excessive Orb hunting in normal can't be prevented?
There is a malus on Orbdrops, so why not a malus on Rarity except uniques too?
Why not make certain currency decay after some time, so economy stays constant?

A little list of titles I liked far more than PoE.
Bioshock Infinite, Last of Us, DoTa2, GTA5, Deadpool, SR4, Arma 3, Arkham Origins, Amnesia a machine for pigs, Fire Emblem Awakening etc.

Sure I can get a bigger list by checking your the list. But then you have to deal with several Remakes or Platform release such as AoE 2 HD.

My demands are never vague:

Demigods for all racemodes.
Filled balanced racecalendar.
Reverted Receipes, improved droprates and more itemmods to have a craftbased game.
Ban of D2JSP users and obvious cheaters(2 lines of code!But even fools streaming their maphacking get away with it) instead of waving the finger and saying "No no no RMT is not ok"
Removal of Chaos Resists in future leagues(alongside everything offering chaosresists but uniques), Amethyst rings change to absolute chaos damage reduction.
Proper Damage scaling, scaled on Evasion builds followed by the removal or Iron Reflexes ska Removed Gearchack One Shot mechanics.
Increased Speedpace of the game and different AIs to increase the difficulty.
Shorter Act3 by making quests optional and decreasing the size of some areas.
Removal of Freezing in PVP on spamable skills.
Removal of QS Flasks and return of Phase Run.
No "Map only" uniques.
Return of fixed chests and reverted droprates on chests and in the game.

I can add much more but the posting would be bigger than the biggest patch notes so here a really specific demand:

Why would take a path with zero benefits in your build when you just could take the scion with seval powerful nodes on the path? Explain it to me. Unless you don't like to play a female character or some character got better optical looks in your opinion there is NOT A SINGLE argument you could use not to take the Scion.

Sure the Scion got weaker starter nodes but the better nodes on the Vaal Pact/Iron Grip path easily make up for them.

Orb using is not crafting, it's gambling.

What could be considerate as crafting are vendor recipes.
Else, there is no crafting in this game.

Anyone who tries to balance PvP here probably did not understand the overall balance of this game : this game will never be balance as a PvP game because it is not a PvP game.
It's a PvE game with a whole balance designed around it with a PvP option, the current state of the skill tree makes it impossible ( unless radical changes <=> a new tree ).

When have I ever said this? I've never used the word "perfect" in my posts, ever. There's nothing perfect about PoE, from a mechanics standpoint. The only thing it's perfect in is as an example of how more games should be going in - PoE has the "perfect direction" - it's indie, it says no to P2W, and the developers are in it for the longhaul, not to shovel out the next unfinished game six months from now.

I disagree with the hyperbolic negativity some people on this forum are displaying. PoE's systems have good intentions and can be improved to meet their established design goals. There is no reason to drastically change the game, just iterate and improve what is and is not working. Iterations can still be massive in scope - maps were an iteration of the maelstrom of chaos - but they don't have to be.

2013 game that made a biggest and long lasting impression? 'the last of us' and 'the walking dead'. hard to ignore batman: arkham origins and civ5 expansion that finally turned civ5 into game worthy of place in civ lineup.

poe i spent a lot of time with but what struck me when i downloaded and launched borderlands 2 recently that i never had a good laugh with poe yet with borderlands it simply is impossible to have a straight face. just the mere intro sequence makes impression that lasts and lasts.

If you found "Uncharted 4: awkward AI" and "No Gameplay: The Game" more enthralling than PoE, then you clearly have different standards than me. I haven't looked at AO, but it was branded almost universally by critics as medicore, especially in comparison to the last two games.

The issue is first and foremost the fact I find PoE to be the best game of 2013. This statement shouldn't be any surprise from someone who's been playing the game since 2011. The fact you find my opinion contentious is hypocritical of your above statement; you're no better than me by pretending like your opinion somehow overrides mine.
