How much life on gear is needed to achieve that above 3500-4000 total?

For the "Faster Attack" support gem you need dex. I was just wondering how you use it if you only have 24 dex with the skill tree.

The author has mentioned somewhere in this thread that you are supposed to get dex from rings and amulet.
You are gonna have to spend a few points on the big 30 dex passive skills aswell if you want a higher level of this gem.

Faster attacks lvl 16 gives a nice 40% attack speed boost and requiures 97 dex.

I don't know how the mechanics for stun works but i have yet to feel a need for this skill.

The chance to stun is based off the damage done in a single hit compared to the target's maximum life. The default length of stuns is 350ms.
The duration of stuns can be altered by increased Block and Stun Recovery, increased Stun Duration on enemies, increased Stun Duration with Two Handed Melee Weapons on enemies and similar modifiers.

Whether or not a stun occurs can be calculated using the following formula:

stun_chance = 200 * damage / defender_effective_max_life

Where defender_effective_max_life is what the maximum life of the creature would be in a single-player map. Increases to monster life from a party of more than one player do not affect defender_effective_max_life.

For a player with Chaos Inoculation, their defender_effective_max_life is whatever their maximum life would be if they did not have Chaos Inoculation.[2]

I do not think that the above formula has changed since launch because the article was last updated on Oct 20, 2013 which is just three days before the game launched.

Now all we need is someone to explain why a player with a high life of 3500+ will not get stunned.

Since you will take IR, get a Grace gem on you and level it as much as you can, it works great with IR.

This build uses more life nodes than dmg nodes. So since the number of dmg nodes we use are low, we try to take only the very best (and closer to get ofc).
Personally i don't like the two 1H/Life nodes. The left side of the Butchery cluster you mention is a really good cluster, in the top 5 in my opinion.

First of all this is not a "max dmg" build...

Now i see you do good damage, i do about 10K GS and i never felt like i am low compared to others.I do just fine and better than some i would say.
Sure i have seen characters (of all classes) doing more or much more dmg than me, but i never felt like a "dead weight" in a party.
*Before the release there were Sporkers doing 200-300K DPS!!! :O

I would also like to know more about you not using Unwavering Stance:
Do you get stunned but just live thought it and go on? I find it hard to believe that some of the ligh-lvl maps Bosses won't stun you all the time...
Does Kole in Lunaris and/or in maps stun you?

It depends on how much "x% increased maximum Life" total you have...
For me at 242% Incr Life, a single +85 Life stat results in 280 more total life.

Now in my last post i thought how silly i was, still not fully using my tree points / choosing a "final" build, so i did that.



GS gone from 9.1K (6.8K w/o Hatred), to 10.8K (8K)
HS from 14.8K (10.2K) with Quantity gem, to 15.8K (11.7K) *20K with AddFire instead of Q gem
Life from 5009 to 4974
Armor same at 6016, 8963 with Determ., 11949 with Grace, 21139 with Det+Grace

Note that the more my dmg increases the more easy i can kill myself in "Phys Reflect" maps :/
Back when i did 6-7K GS (with the same life pool more or less) it was not so bad, now i must watch myself and not GS a big group of monsters or my life plummets right away.
Still better that high-dmg Dischargers that 1-shot themselves in Ele Reflect maps :P

Also made more tests with more AS gear, i will post them at some point.


Sadly the last two days the game started to crash (as in the PoE application crashes) a lot, so i am kind of bummed out :(
If you also started to suffer from game crashes in the last few days, please send me a PM so we can better determine what is the problem or at least rule things out...

Get more life on your gear. Amulet, rings and chest. Get a 5 link if you can afford it because that will give you a lot more dps. Don't worry about rarity so much.
