The Frozen Dagger (ST/CoC - Self found, noob friendly) [Gameplay Videos]
Running all of the defensive auras, max resists and my weapon has an innate +life on hit. I'm still murdering myself in the face on reflect shrines. Any advice?

" Until I 6l my voll's to start testing Life Steal gems, the only advice I have is the way I handle them (2 possible ways) 1)Kite the majority of the mobs away from the shrine. 2)Pop all your defensive Flasks, whiling blades in, grab the shrine, whirling blades out. I know 2 isn't an option for you since your Bow. So pretty much kiting away from shrine is all you can do. I know you play alot with friends so have one of your tanky melee grab the shrine before you engage. I know it sucks but that's about all I can give you without a LGoH (20/20 LGoH will give 54 life per unit struck with every spell/attack). And even then IDK if it will work out since I can't test yet. Worst case I believe it will let you throw out at least some attacks without killing yourself. Edit: You could pull off the 2nd option with Warp. If your critting enough to perma freeze almost instantly you could warp in, grab shrine then shoot off a couple rounds to freeze as you warp out. Ooh, Warping in and grabbing it works great! Thanks!
The biggest problem for me is stray spells hitting stuff way off the screen before I even know something has reflect on it. Do you have much issue with ST? I'm doing a little experimenting with Ethereal Knives and Point Blank. It decreases my attack range but buffs damage within the immediate arc in front of me and ups my survivability. Small, tight maps like the Coward's Trial went really well last night. I'll have to field test it some more on the big, open areas. |

I have a cyclone cast on crit build that works well but want to respec my shadow. What is the benefit to a Volls over say an ES chest or ES Evasion combo other than some power charges? I play with a Tabula Rasa but have various 5L chests.

The +250-300% crit (depending on how many max charges you go for) from Voll's is a LOT.
IMO, Tabular Rasa with Power Charge on Crit is better than a 5L Voll's. But a 6-link Voll's is ideal. (Will I ever see one? Probably not.) I think the point of this guide though was to be self-found/noob-friendly, so you're more likely to come across a Voll's and socket/link it up yourself along the way than buy a Tabula Rasa (although my party's found 3 between the 3 of us while leveling up our characters). Update

" Yah I run into the occasional 'wtf killed me' moments. But it's not often. Most of the time i see my HP dropping for now reason and know right away that there's some sort of thorns of screen. Luckily this isn't a 1 shot mechanic and more often than not you can get away before you kill yourself if it's just an off-screen drive-by. " fey pretty much summed it up. Personally I don't want to loose the ES from volls since I have zero mana issues. This is why I choose to stay with the 5l voll's over a tabula. If you choose to skip the Voll's you need to run PCoC. 300% crit is way to juicy to give up. You can run a 5 link of something else you'll just have to go chargeless or give up a spell for PCoC. Either way it will hurt your dmg output considerably. Your better off to stick with Tabula if you dont have a voll's On a side note --> " That's not entirely true. The point of the guide is to open peoples minds to other CoC options and different build possibilities with it. The self found/noob part is just to let people know not to be scared of it and that anyone can use it no matter if your rich or poor ;) @Shag - Your getting there man. Just need to get a hold of that CoC and you'll see a big difference. I know your working on it ;) Check out my Frozen Dagger build in the Shadow forums!! Hey again, update time :) 72 now and did some upgrades.
Piety was easy but Dominus - well I felt like I would met a devil :D That was hard and I couldn't kill him solo yet. My actual gear:
Spoiler
I droped Abyssus today, with pretty low roll but I decided to chrom it to usefull colors and try it ... hell yeah, those 114% crit multi gave me some serious dmg :) did you think about this unique? I'm also running Hatred + Grace + Clarity. Ress are almost capped ( was capped before abyssus with ) so I decided to not use purity atm. Also I decided to use hatred over discipline. I'm playing on standard so I can die from time to time and hatred giving me so much offensive. With each lvl this build is more and more amazing :) I still need to get some gems to 20/20 - have none of them atm. ps. I'm also starting to collect exalts for 6L Volls, I will probably not try to link it myself after what I had with chroming my earlier Volls :) ps2. unfortunatly ring are not mine :( I borrowed them from friend, cant afford 15ex for rings :P ;-) Last edited by SolaMira#5786 on Jan 28, 2014, 7:43:47 AM

I usually dont post about builds and such but playing nemesis for some time with 89lvl coc build i havenoticed few things, you dont really need damage or crit multiplier nodes for maps to be cleared kinda easily (done up to 76's maps) you need bit more survivability plu using two ungils gauches is kinda better than using one and another random dagger, because two ungils give you 55% block chance which is tons then lots of global crit chance which stack with spells. But other than that id go with fast dagger that has nice crit chance and a shield then you are set to go.
This is my gear, and i noted you that i have way different skill tree that i did myself with lots of respec to finally reach smth that i am happy with, this is my current gear (i could trade belt if i needed resistance and such but i like it a lot), used 5l eva/armor checst before volls it gives more defense but less dps than volls.I use EB and evasion (got 8,5k evasion with volls and 11k with my green chest) plus i am using arctic armour with empower or another dagger that gives +1 cold gems if i need more physical reduction from AA.
Spoiler
Pro tip: you kinda only need MAX 3 stats on dagger, base crit chance, att speed and spell damage that's it, the faster the dagger the better, plus you dont need any damage on rigs or ammy, better stack mana/mana regen/life/resists on those. P.s. wanted GGGGB volls, wasted 3k chromes had to stick with GGGBB.... Last edited by NagiSoi#1418 on Jan 28, 2014, 8:15:09 AM

@Solo-
Spoiler
" Yah Dom is pretty tough for this. But, I'm not a dom runner. I'd rather roll maps ;) " Abyssus would be a great addition to an IR variant on this build @Nagi-
Spoiler
" First off, your playing HC. I would build a bit differently if I was as well. I may, at some point, work on a good HC variant. But for now this is a softcore build. 2ndly, your using EK which has way higher base dmg than any other spell out there. So your build wont need dmg/multi to clear efficiently. Cold spell base dmg is lower than any other spell, due to it's utility. So it needs some umph behind it. Hence the extra dmg/multi from the tree. " Double Ungil's is more than viable. I just like having a high crit chance dagger for my main hand to boost single target dmg with double strike. With my build you don't need more survivability since 99% of everything is perma-froze. You don't need 4k hp if nothing can hit you. And the things you can't freeze you use your head and figure out how to beat them without standing there face tanking them. " I couldn't agree more. The faster the better!!! " +x-x dmg is negligible for sure. But crit chance/multi is great on them. And, as I have said a bunch, mana/regen is needed until you can continuous cast without lapsing in mana. " Yah rolling a voll's is rly rough for ST/CoC Check out my Frozen Dagger build in the Shadow forums!! Last edited by Juggla1570#0315 on Jan 28, 2014, 11:21:23 AM
