0.10.0 patch notes, balance explanations and how microtransactions work

I agree with govaguy. Although, I would probably prefer a price point closer to League of Legends, which has the cost of $7.50 for a nice character skin.

You can buy the reclamation item in advance and probably in bulk.

By the way, I'd be interested in feedback on this:

Let's imagine two hypothetical examples (the prices here are entirely made up btw). Assume this is for some relatively nice effect.

Option 1: The effect is $30 and can be moved freely between items and used on all your characters in all leagues forever with no drawback.

Option 2: The effect is $3, and can be removed from an item using something that costs $1 for a single use, or, if purchased in bulk, less.

The second option allows far more players to experience the effect and can move it the few times that they'll want to on average.

Note that these two options are not mutually exclusive. Also, remember those aren't actually final prices, just round numbers.

Option 1 would be my choice easily.

Although having both options available would be great. Would also allow buying a one time use version to get a taste, and if one likes it, pony up for the reusable option.

I just want GGG to make money so they can continue to gain in order to improve. I feel like either way, permanent or not, I'll buy cosmetic effects. It just makes that purchase mean so much more for your character and you have a little more attachment to the look. It also makes you think twice about getting stuff while you are leveling, which I'm not sure I would right away unless I got some unique I know I would use for a little while.

All in all, I'm extremely happy with all the changes, and I look forward to buying the cosmetics; but not go broke in doing so. I'm more so leaning towards option 2 because I don't want to buy something, not like it and then never use it again.

is it free to play?
One suggestion: video clips of how the cosmetic effects look.

2. Possible option 3. Say $5/10 for a month of an unlimited amount of a given effect. Say....gore for example. This way one could just use it and decide to go for a permanent option or the buy/reclaim option or pay when they want to use it. I know GGG needs to make money for this game to thrive and this third option kinda covers all bases. Permanent/monthly/single use(reclaimable), revenue stream for GGG and continued growth of game :)

Agree completely.
See my thing is this.

I sat in Normal mode with YodePls, for over 2 weeks (we solod our stuff though), just running and rerolling ranger after ranger , tweaking , adjusting , playing. I Can't see myself buying one time use, gone with the wind cosmetics.

If i buy something to change my "helmet" to flames, i want that to be applicable to any helm i put on (at the very least for the character it was bought for). I just cant se myself rebuying a flame helm over and over and over again.

I dunno, in all honesty, maybe it should be a option 3. Both of the above. Small cost one time use & more expensive perma item.

My thoughts.
GGG - Why you no?
Will you be able to preview effects, eg via image or short vid?

Will sexier barrel-smashing be available?

Both examples are terrible and IMO, very greedy. Make any one effect cost $5 and freely movable forever with no drawback.

Using the word "greedy" does not even make sense when used in the context of a company who has to make a profit to stay alive.

Maybe you should look up the word greedy. It makes perfect sense. I'm stating my opinion on what I see, based on my experience with F2P games for nearly a decade.

Defn: Excessively or inordinately desirous of wealth, profit, etc.

Based on my over 3 decades of home video game play (and another decade of arcade game play before that), I think your opinion is "off". F2P with no PTW is not excessive regardless of how much cosmetics cost.

Charging $1000 for a single point is not greedy, if it doesn't affect game play. At this point it just becomes "what will the (cosmetic/convenience) market support" in order to keep GGG a going concern.
