Tales From an Alpha Tester Part 2

Have you guys seen the unannounced class already in game? Is it awesome? (Obviously I'm not asking what it is.)

Are the boss fights pose any challenge? (Now, I don't mean, they are like a WoW heroic instance boss, but you have to think before you enter in his/her room, nut just "Oh, here comes the boss, I've almost no pot's left, but w/e, I'll just zerg him anyways")
thanks for response trapp :)
What brought me to PoE was the mature and gritty art style. Torchlight 2 and to an even great extent Diablo 3 annoy me with their cartoonish world.

It makes me quite pleased to hear that PoE looks just as awesome in motion as it does in stills!
because of this nice preview of tpapp157 i will write my preview some days later...;)
well done tpapp!

Nope. We don't know any more about the two remaining classes than you guys do.

Yeah. Not so much in the first difficulty but they can become very fearsome in the later difficulties. Obviously, based on your playstyle certain bosses will be more difficult than others.

I'm looking forward to it. You got so much farther along than I did.

So tpapp, how about the game feeling, the horror atmosphere, does it translate well?

That's one of the most important things to me.

And an extra question, how about the replayability? You feel that you can play and play and play PoE forever?

Thanks.

There are definitely walls and obstacles that are too tall or too far to jump over. Normally, the river I mentioned is too wide to jump across but occasionally you get lucky and it narrows down just enough to get across. Of course, you can always just use the bridge that's only a few seconds jog away but that's beside the point. Leap Slam has a good weight to it. The distances jumped are easily something you could expect a good track & field jumper to handle (though maybe not in full armor).

good good, i didnt really like the D2 fly as far as you can see version

These are both difficult questions to answer.

PoE isn't really a scary game if that's what you're thinking. But it is a much darker game than Torchlight2 or Diablo3. Not in the sense that the colors are darker but that the environments are grittier and more real. As I mentioned in my original post, there's plenty of blood and gore to satisfy my own bloodlust.

In terms of replayability, again, this isn't an easy question to answer. I haven't grown tired of the game yet even though it only has about 1.5 acts worth of content. The combination of the passive skill tree and the skill gems means that there are tons of ways to build your character.

There's just so much content that still needs to be added to the game. I'm sure many of the environments will look different and many of the mechanics will play differently before release that it's really just impossible to say.

Rhesos and permaximum, you guys should elaborate more on your experiences, even if you have nothing new to say. Just give us something more to read! :}

This is really good news to hear from Tpapp. I'm glad you kept everything in perspective by noting the work that had to be done still.

No one really said much about the charges system. Anything you guys can say more about that?
I love Frenzy charges for my Ranger. My build is based on having them up at all times, and I'm an (almost) unstoppable force when they are.
