Ok here's my take on this GMP vs LMP issue.

LMP does x3 projectiles at -30% damage.
GMP does x5 projectiles at -50% damage.

Now let's see what that does if we do a nice round 100 damage.

LMP: 100 -30% -> 70 *3 = 210 damage.
GMP: 100 -50% -> 50 *5 = 250 damage.

GMP does in fact more damage. However it does so at a greater AOE. What i mean is that if you are facing a mob, GMP will surely be better because it does more damage to the mob but if you are facing a Unique then it's likely that not all of your projectiles will hit. If you are using GMP and only 3 projectiles are hitting the enemy, then LMP would of been better but if 4 or 5 are hitting him, then GMP is better.

Based on that i can say that GMP is better for mobs but LMP is better for 1v1. Taking care of mobs is essential in solo and therefore GMP would be safer and thus better. For multiplayer, i think the more concentrated attack of LMP might be better.

How is it possible that you guys can overlook the biggest factors here.

At level 19 LMP evens out to giving a bonus of 2% extra dmg.

At level 19 GMP decreases dmg by 20%

The damage difference is 22%.

This is without upgrading the quality.

With Quality at 20%:

LMP at 20% 20x.5 = 10% extra cast speed

GMP at 20% 20x.35 = 7% extra cast speed

Cast speed difference is 3%.

The major difference between GMP AND LMP is that GMP gives 2 extra projectiles for the trade off of 22% less dmg and slower cast speed of 3% per projectile.

For a base spell dmg of 100:

LMP 102 dmg per projectile 10% extra cast speed.

GMP 80 dmg per projectile 7% extra cast speed.

You cannot factor in x 3 or x 5 projectiles because monsters might only get hit by 1 projectile. Basically, you can say that you can attack more and have a wider spread with GMP with 5 targets and LMP with 3. GMP also multiplies your total mana cost by 2 while LMP multiples your total mana cost by 1.5.

you sir are very wrong :/
the way calculations are being made is not from the spell's base damage or tooltip damage, say you do 100 damage with GmP on the spear. after the reduce, it is now 50 damage
100 - 50% = 50
now we have a base of 50 damage and adds for fun 50% to that,
50 + 50% = 75 damage. so even if you even out the loss you will never reach the unreduced damage :)
btw this is confirmed by chris on several occasions
just clearing that up!!

Guys please, someone can link me the complete version of the classic CI build?
Because i'm following it...
Or this build now is not a great build and all of you have forget it?

Sorry again bad English...
So, I'm using this build but it seems very weak in merciless act 3. I hit a brick wall with the squishiness of it. I'm level 65 and have 520 hp and 1900 es. Is this on par with other people using this build? There's so many fast moving mobs, and mobs that throw things from outside of your screen that it's near impossible to dodge everything.
GMP would be better in group situation where you want that CC to be spread out.
