Second shadow died of Hailrake being about 3 lvl.

When in a race, I usually try to step around dicey, unnecessary fights like Hailrake or the Fetid Pool in Turbo. There are some great places to avoid, and some great places to run more than once.

Though I have to say that those fast mobs made me run a lot more than normal on my ranger.
12/12/12 - the day Germany decided boys are not quite human.

I choose to kill Hailrake because I needed that phase run gem. As far as I know, I could get it from glyph quest, but then there would be no viper strike for me.

And, as I been advised, I do glyph quest and only then Hailrake. So I can be a bit more tougher when facing him. And also with viper strike.

..but for shadow #2 I ignored that rule.
Hateful post.

The last turbo race was only western grinding too.

Before GS got the speed nerf on the 7 Oct Turbo Race ssnodgrass1283 got to ledge in cruel and he soloed.

3h Solo Turbo races will always end in the majority of players grinding level 21 areas.

Waterfall Cave Bears and Ancient Pyramid spitters are a reason why grinding it isn't worth the risk.(besides Vaal Ruins and Chamber of sins the hardest place in act2 Turbo)

The places where players on the 1 Week Turbo Test died were pretty much the same.( only mention the boss, it includes the way to the boss)

80% of the players died in normal(hailrake, brutus, merv, fidelitas, a nasty rare spider or vaal)
On cruel some players died against Brutus, Fidelitas, Vaal or nasty mods rares.
On Ruthless most players died to Vaal or nasty mod rares.

Nasty mod rares are those with attack/move quickly mod or frenzy charges.

In Merciless the majority of players died on maps. Only some died to mobs or Vaal.

Here are screens including Rips of some players which went CI and a high Quantity map which resulted in nothing(actually that one was far easier than the other 2 lower quality maps)
Spoiler

Despite having 92% no problems.(but also no map)

A rip where he got between 2 3 Frenzy charged merv and got instantly killed

A reason why you don't take CI on Turbo Leagues. Death was caused by instant Tripleshock

And here an example of nasty mobs which will warp around in turbo and might kill people(or at last revive many undeads which might kill you.
It hard to get a screen of them or keep them locked in a place(similar to crypt hasted fast crypt stalkers in normal, which are harmless in turbo due a broken speedlimit)

Races need different timesettings or complete different starter settings.

For example why not let players start in Cruel or ruthless with 30/43 skillpoints(bandits quest count double/triple). Give them around 10 Transmutes 5 Alternation orbs to equip themselves.
They may visit normal town to get gem rewards(leveled up already) and buy items to kill hillock.

Or punish players with huge exp penalties if they create more than 4 instances of the same area so players are forced to progress.

Also I would like to see a race including Cut Throat which will be enabled after level 3 to prevent terrace kills.

Thanks for the fast reward Chris!

Different timesettings would be interesting, different starting points like cruel and on, mh... don't like that so much.

But punishing instance resets a little would surely add to the meaning of the word "race".

"When I close my eyes, I see this thing, a sign, I see this name in bright blue neon lights with a purple outline. And this name is so bright and so sharp that the sign - it just blows up because the name is so powerful... It says, "Diamond Supporter."

Waterfall is perfectly safe for ranged builds assuming minimal to no desync issues. Wand pirates damage is negligible, squids will never get in range long as youre attacking since any hit will stun them and bears can be kited. Ive grinded waterfall many times in races and the only danger (rares aside) comes from desync, move into position feature bs, cant attack due to enemy close to wall bug and flasks not working.

Matter of fact, id go so far as to say the entire overall strategy of these races will be vastly altered if/when the above issues are fixed. No need to overlevel for brutus, can safely (assuming good play/build) level in all zones, rush hard areas smoothly etc. Waterfall cave or cruel would be viable for any decent build and western/bridge would become obsolete as grinding there would almost never win.

4th Ranger this time ... nice race, only desyncs in Brutus' room and Merveil's cave - in addition to heavy fps-drops in that cave. No clue what's the problem there, but it happens every time i enter her "nest".

Little to no useful drops, slow grinding, half a level to go until lvl 21 when race endet.

Was fun anyway :)

'til next time
If we all reacted the same way, we'd be predictable, and there's always more than one way to view a situation.
What's true for the group is also true for the individual. It's simple: Overspecialize, and you breed in weakness.
It's slow death.
- Major Motoko Kusanagi -
Ranged builds will lose time at Merveil, Brutus and Weavers Chambers.

I still think 3,5h or 2h Turbo would make a huge difference besides punishing instance resets.
