Current Map drop is a Joke
And instead of shrinking the map level range from 66-77 to, lets say, 68/70-77, so more people can hope to reach end-game-high-level-mapping, the geniuses over there at ggg thought the level range should be widened and thus added a new 78 while keeping the totally useless 66.
So now even less people can hope to reach end-game-high-level-mapping. I tell you, genius move |

"why would they allow more people to reach end game high leve mapping...when chris explicitly said maps are meant to be gated. thats exactly the opposite of what they want. also, adding a 78 doesnt change pool in any way that is detrimental. its actually a plus, since you can get a 78 in a 76+ map now. |

" Oh I see! Because shit map drop rates are intentional, it must be a good thing! How silly of me to think that everybody should have access to endgame if they are strong enough. Clearly, everybody should pour 80 hours a week into a video game just so that they might have a lucky enough RNG streak to be able to see end game. That's obviously the only way to have fun and the only way to keep your playerbase growing. Boy, I can't believe how much of an entitled child I was being! IGN: WeenieHuttSenior

" My exact problem with the map system. I've spent a ton of time and resources so far on my maps in Domination and what do I have to show for it? A significant net loss of currency, a few levels and 1 74, 1 73, 1 70 and 1 69. From I'd say around 40-50 hours of mapping. |

" You're lvl 85 in 10 days. What else do you expect? A few levels and a chance to get better gear is what mapping is. |

" Being able to access endgame without needing bullshit amounts of luck? Is that really such a bad thing to want? IGN: WeenieHuttSenior US East Last edited by Caustic2#4821 on Nov 1, 2013, 8:57:25 PM

" I want to have smoother RNG with maps. Make map drop rates more consistent across the board until you hit the magical 77s, which Chris feels should be locked away behind another RNG layer. So far I've gone to 15+ 69+ maps twice in these 10 days. Now I'm back down to 4. I was down to 1 69 map at one point in between. The current system is down-right frustrating and having to worry constantly if the next map decides to not drop more maps and going back to 68s is the essence of un-fun gameplay. I've done 80-100 quantity maps with 0 map drops and one 62 quantity pack size+more magics Torture Chamber, which decided to tease me with a Mud Geyser and a 66 map, until after killing Shock and Horror, who decided to drop a Gorge and a Dry Peninsula. These coveted lucky surges of RNG, which seem to be necessary to even have a chance at staying above 70 maps are hurting the integrity and enjoyment of mapping. All I am advocating for is smoother progression through maps. I really, really don't mind grinding more 68s if it means a guaranteed pass through to 69 and onward. Currently no matter how many [insert map tier here] you grind, you will still end up dropping down tiers, unless you get lucky. There is little sense of progress, as the only maps I seem to be accumulating are 66s and 67s, which are of zero use to me. This is not fun. Last edited by voidan#0962 on Nov 1, 2013, 9:03:28 PM

I have never seen a Level 70 map and I stil lwas able to level my Witch to Level 80, without mapruns mostly. PoE can be fun without maps and you will not have the luxury to do high level mapruns if you only play solo+mostly selffound like me.
So I would say Level 80 is more or less the endgame for non mappers, everything above is luxury and needs grinding, trading, group play and iron nerves to seriously level in the dangerous and deadly high Map Areas. I guess "normal players" better wait for Act 4 and the raise of the normal areas over level 68. :) |

" First off, let me say thank you for posting in manner not like caustics. I have been suggesting several ways over my time here to smooth out the map system to no avail. The best advice I can give, is to just play, and enjoy the game. Seriously. If you only focus on getting and more, I promise you will be disappointed. in regards to always being able to maintain the next highest map lvl. Build up a large stash of the next levels, than pepper them in between runs of your current highest large stadh map lvl. It keeps things varied. It keeps things fun. |

Bump for visibility. Last patch I had a ton of map drops from Lunaris even! Now I get jack. The system needs overhauling very badly!
