Scion Class. please GGG, reconsider.

scion is the best for endgame but in beginning sucks ;)
my english sux.
John have you ever seen a circle? Do you know what the radius of a circle is?

If you want to combine two keystones that are far away right now you have to walk 2x the radius (unless its close enough to use the perimeter) of the current skill tree which is a giant circle. After release if you play scion you will have to walk the exact same path (2x the radius) if you want the exact same keystones, if anything scion will be underpowered because if you want to combine two keystones that are close to each other you will have to run 1x the radius before you reach the perimeter and if you want to combine 2 far away keystones you will get the first one at a later stage of the game compared to a class that starts closer to that keystone.

The problem arises if the other classes can't cross the middle of the circle in which case they will have to use the perimeter making it almost impossible. Other than that please GGG do not reconsider.
I'm a forum warrior, i was born to post, raised to defend my league. Now my post has been removed, chained and exiled by mods who Ban. Ban is my brother; i do not fear it. I see it in the eyes of men and beasts that i troll. It will take me to play the actual game when i am ready and i am not ready.
If it stays like it is it'll be easy for Scion's to get Mana Shield (IR and Unwavering too if necessary) and Eldritch Battery.

I do think though that there will be lots of changes to the skill tree that we are currently seeing, because it's definitely too OP for Scion.
Thats The whole point of the scion, shes a jack of all trades int/dex/str meaning she can choose what to do. say you wanted to build her around throwing 2h weapons. you can do that. 1h yep as well. when i looked at the class last monday the fact that it can use 2h weapons did surprise me abit.. until carl and rory told me it was jack of all trades str/int/dex class.. then i was like Ohhhhhhh right! point it the scion can be build anyway you please but it won't be the master of the build you want due the the str/int/dex style of her. i've seen the tree GGG were using and it needed some work all right.. Major work in fact...

You get it. They need an elegant and somewhat subtle way of restoring class definition, and making distant keystones that much harder to get to is pretty much it.

Conversely, the Scion will be Jill of all trades, master of none.

It's a fairly simple concept.

I have no doubt there'll be changes to her nodes as time goes by -- look at how many iterations the other classes have been through. People can't expect her to be perfect out of the gate.

And I approve!

Have a crazy built in mind? Go for Scion!
Want it tanky & melee? Better get the Marauder.
Sparkles & Rain of Fire? That Witch does it!

Oh, your old built might be screwed or even impossible. But you get a free respec! So please, make use of the brain you have and adapt to the new situation.

This game has only gotten better in the last year, what makes anyone think it will get worse now?

respec will not help - if your build uses GR+VP only scion has access to it. your lvl88 witch respect is useless because you cannot travel the tree efficiently. all that high-lvl characters with lots of respec points might find out that they cannot change the class :) and will have to try completely new build because old one just became impossible

some will like it. some will quit. most will play scion. because what is important in the passive tree is keystone availability. scion seems to be the one with 100% in range. try to get witch to unwavering stance+iron reflexes without traveling the middle and tell me how many passive points you can use for stuff like dmg/life/es?

@Pyrokar

it's not how long it takes to get to a certain part of the tree, as much as a "how you get there" kind of thing: what sacrifices/compromises you need to make?

let's get back to our lovely Witch.
she wants to go grab Unwavering Stance. let's assume she takes the shortest path to it.
so, not only does she travel something close to [diameter of tree] to get there, you can pretty much say all points except the last one are effectively wasted. they have little use to a Witch. only US does, because she's CI and doesn't want to get stun-locked.

this can be generalized: when starting from an existing class, and wanting to grab a patch of nodes from a class at the opposite side of the tree, you will - in most cases - have a rather long "bridge" of nodes, who's sole purpose is to get you from area A to area B, and serve little benefit for your build.

Scion will need to make little to no sacrifice. she can gradually expend in either direction almost simultaneously, and grab any and all important nodes at either side as she goes.
no "bridge", all useful for the build.

she will have two major weaknesses:

1) being the (possibly) weakest starting character, since there are no immediate class-specific, and immediately-helpful nodes to take.

2) having to travel [radius of tree] to grab a major keystone.

but:

1) she will be much, much stronger than any class towards mid-to-late-game.

and

2) not all Keystones are located on the perimeter, and none are really required to make a character powerful.

try looking into this a bit, and you'll see a no-brainer.
a class everyone will play once they finish Normal once.
it effectively kills class diversity, and will make an army of hot blondes invade every corner of Wraeclast.
Alva: I'm sweating like a hog in heat
Shadow: That was fun
and the funniest part - her weak starting point is not important.

you can get to level 12-13 without assigning any passive. just get two corals, belt at 8, RNGesus some +life items and you can easily get to sins without any passives..

weak starting point my ass:)
This speculation is, for the most part, ridiculous. From what Ive seen sure some builds wont be AS viable as before, but if 5 or 10 skill points farther to get that keystone is enough to completely break your build beyond any hope of repair with a free respec, then you have fucked your build up all on your own.

Also, it looks like the Scion is stuck kind of deep in the middle of that hole, which means they will likely take MORE skill points to get specific keystones than the other classes which are closer to the edge where the majority of keystones are.

Even then, lets say all the doomcriers get thier wish, and the Scion IS horribly overpowered. How long do you honestly think that will last? GGG has shown repeatedly in the past that they are willing and able to balance the game.

For two examples of it, look at how often the "GAME IS RUINED BECAUSE OF X" threads change what X is, And the current shitting themself whinefest some ranged players are having because of short lived shield bubbles around non-threatening mobs.
