The rich get richer, the poor get screwed
" That's already whas is happening since last wipe, and it will never change. Hardcore players will always be richer than casuals, I don't see how it could change ( and no reason to change it by the way ) IGN TylordRampage Last edited by Malone#6946 on Oct 2, 2013, 7:58:36 AM

" That's not entirely true. It is a factor, but there are stronger factors involved. It also depends on how you define 'hardcore'. We take it the term is being used as in hardcore game play rather than hardcore mode (yes, believe it or not, some don't know the difference). Now, if you are defining hardcore as simply time investment, well someone investing more time would be richer than someone spending less time, doing the exact same things, that is.. as long as what they were doing is building wealth. If you are defining hardcore as not taking least resistant paths, not getting boosted, relying on found gear only, not offsetting RNG by utilising the less-hardcore methods available, then this person is going to be far less wealthy than a less hardcore player. If you define hardcore as solo as opposed to the faceroll group play in PoE, again the hardcore player would be at a disadvantage in gaining wealth, their content access would also cost them more. We can take someone playing this game as hardcore as you can possibly imagine and put them next to someone playing extremely casual. The person playing hardcore would likely be well behind the casual player because PoE actively discourages hardcore gameplay to progress. In fact it hard gates progression behind trading or faceroll lowball MFing. Neither of these are remotely hardcore gameplay. Casually casual.

Or people dont see money as something to sit around and they just wanna spend, if its there its gone if its not there, who cares?
Why ask Why and start by denying before you have actually tried?

This happens in every game that involves trading/bartering. Too many players are worried about how they measure up to the next guy when, in hindsight, it doesn't matter unless you're referring solely to PVP.
Play the game and enjoy it. If flipping isn't your cup of tea, don't compare yourself to someone who does it all day. That's apples to oranges. |

I look at things a bit differently. I'm a casual gamer (hear me out) and I play this game casually. I don't have time to make a shop thread, spam trade chat, and trade people every so often. I'm not online enough to offer any kind of convenience to buyers.
Because of this, I will NEVER achieve the kind of wealth that dedicated player will. The only way for me to get an exalted orb is to save up my lower orbs for months until I can afford one. Eventually, I'll be able to afford a lioneye's glare doing this. The other option I have, is getting lucky in map runs. For example, soul taker dropped on a random low level map but it was assigned to another player. Nearly hit gold there, so it does happen, just not often. A way to sell and trade items while offline would enable me to sell off my gear and at least earn some kind of higher income. Don't get me wrong, I love farming gear and finding something myself. But in reality, I've had my current bow since level 50s and I'm not going to find an upgrade anytime soon. my 2 cents. EDIT: I'm not complaining for the record, I'm just showing how it is. I can't play as often as other people so naturally I'm not going to progress much further than level 80. Last edited by adamsaun#0800 on Oct 2, 2013, 9:06:44 AM

" You don't really need to compare yourself, though, hell I don't give a damn what anybody else has. That isn't going to stop the purposely placed content access gates telling you to fuck off and either trade-sim or faceroll MF. Whether you give a damn or not what others have, it's in your face. It's a mere follow on conclusion that this currency sink misses those that have but gates those that don't. Casually casual. Last edited by TheAnuhart#4741 on Oct 2, 2013, 9:14:10 AM

" QFT, and it does make playing much more enjoyable (in my opinion). Unfortunately, not everyone can seem to get in this mindset. |
|
" The point was, this mindset or not, doesn't change the reality, it doesn't change the poorly placed currency sink, it doesn't remove one from the affects of poor game design. Casually casual.

This game inherited all of the Diablo 2 RMTers and if you think things are bad now... they are only going to get worse.
Remember when I won a screenshot contest and made everyone butt-hurt? Pepperidge Farm remembers.

" You complained first that your point wasn't refuted , then you ignore one who does refute your point. Content is not locked behind poor game design. Repeating that it is does not make it true. You do NOT lose currency by properly running maps. Saying that you are not interested in comparing yourself to others and then using them as a benchmark for your success is a bit of a conundrum. If you in fact do not care what anyone else has, then you do not care if they have more or less. Arguing otherwise is ironic at best. This goes for anyone. Ask yourself, "Am I enjoying my spare time?". If yes, then continue to do what you enjoy. If no, move on already. |
