i only play with friends but they love my summoner since they can attack with reckless abandon with all those minions soaking up all the damage. It also makes maps a hell of a lot easier.

If a summoner is poor on offense, they can at least take comfort in knowing they're still good damn support. If your zombies are poor at dishing out damage, at least they make nice meat shields for your teammates.
PoE players: Our game has a wide diversity of builds.

Also PoE players: The [league mechanic] doesn't need to be nerfed, you just need to play a [current meta] build!

MFers found strength in their Afflictions. They became reliant on them. I am not so foolish.
I roll 9 zombies, 11 skeletons, 3 ranged specters, and 3 flame totems.

When I'm fully cast out its quite the Epilepsy test. If your options are not tuned to your computer, I will make you lag. or at the vary least foam at the mouth.

I don't think I would want me around either.

Because 3 fire dog spectres will destroy even high end system. This doesnt affect 5 year old pcs it affects systems that can run skyrim on high fine but not poe if theres a summoner in the party.

this is the fault with the game's optimization.

Check out my LA build: 1782214
I don't play with summoners because they are annoying and they get in the way.
i love summoners. love playing them - love having one in the group.

meat shields - they keep me from dying. when playing them i love having an army, it's great.

sure having more than one can definitely make the screen content overwhelming, but in my opinion much less distracting/annoying than dischargers.

unless, of course, they bring in those machine gun critters from lunaris.

that is extremely annoying, and really they don't need to...

i've never seen my play speed suffer from a summoner, but discharge- most definitely. seen huge desync issues when a discharger is present.
They don't affect my performance, my PC can handle them just fine. I don't like summoners cause they fill the screen with so much shit I can't tell what is an enemy and what is summoned. I had two in a party the other day, and I literally couldn't even find my character there were so damn many zombies/skeles on the screen.

It definitely used to be that way, but hasn't been for quite a long time. There was one patch in particular several months ago that greatly improved minion related performance issues.

For me the issue is purely that they get in the way, contributing more than their fair of screen clutter without bringing anything useful into the mix.

I -love- partying with 5 other summoners. Having 100+ minions on the screen is something that everybody should see/experience, even if playing on a toaster with a can-and-string connection.

Ahaha, I wish to see it, any screenshots/videos?

Time to roll a summoner for me thanks to this thread.
