No Summoner!!!

Why?

Why aren't summoners wanted to join groups? Every map and lunaris public group up on anarchy right now has a "no summoner" request in it's tagline.

Can someone explain to me why this is so?

People with lower-end pcs can't handle the 500 mobs on screen at once.
I hardly play with other people if at all, but now I'm also curious about why this is.

My guess is probably the huge number of minions result is massive lagfests. If you've played Diablo 2, you'd often find your game straining to keep running when multiple skeletons are around and other minions throwing spells.

I'm sure the number of zombies and skeletons causing lag and poor FPS is the reason behind this.
PoE players: Our game has a wide diversity of builds.

Also PoE players: The [league mechanic] doesn't need to be nerfed, you just need to play a [current meta] build!

MFers found strength in their Afflictions. They became reliant on them. I am not so foolish.
I was in a 2-man party the other day, both of us summoners. Computer kept up with it just fine, but my eyes just wanted to bleed out of my skull.

It's bad enough keeping track of my own zoo, but when you throw someone elses pets in the mix, it's just total chaos.

Awesome, map-clearing, overpowered chaos. :D

That's interesting. I've been in parties where sporkers will slow down the game, but never summoners. Are people's computers that bad or is it something that's not a client issue? Can the game itself, or the servers handling the game, not process everything at once?

This was a common misconception about d2. Frozen orb sorcs lagged the game much more than a few more monsters onscreen did. This isn't pertinent to PoE ofc.
Because summoners in PoE are lazily done.

Come on, it's just a friggin' army of mobs at least twice the size of any pack. No specialization, no choice involved. Just a mass of mobs swarming everything, getting in the way of any melee and lagging a lot of people.

No wonder no one wants summoners. Even if they can stack MF like mad.

Minions should get buffed, split their passives (even make them mutually exclusive) and just reduce the max size of the army you can gather.
Because Summoners can solo all content and people don't like to get their feelings hurt knowing they've made a character less capable.

Guess my computer must've been running on a potato years ago, because if there were enough mobs and pets on screen, the game would bug out. First its major lag, but it clears up at the cost of effects and perhaps lighting temporarily shutting off until some of the mobs died.

I was assuming the same problem might happen on PoE, when the game can't handle so many things going on at once and starts slowing down to compensate.
