Game Crash - PC Restart - No BSOD, No Eventlog, No warning.

Antivirus removed. Same crash. :(

Very odd. I'd say there is something going on that is incompatible then. It's especially strange that it is happening on both machines, but I guess if they're both identical, then it might not be quite as strange. At least that means it's probably not specifically a hardware failure, and more likely a driver or other hardware incompatibility problem in some regard.

Only recommendation I have is to get some devs involved through an email to support at the address in the Contact Support link at the top of the page. Provide the details of the problem as well as a full DxDiag export and a link to this thread for reference. Then they should be able to pass it onto a dev and get it looked at.

Good luck. Sorry we couldn't figure it out and get it working for you. But hopefully your info will allow them to find the problem in development and fix it.
As a last ditch effort to rule out hardware I'll be changing out PSU's in the next day or so. It's a hassle re-cabling everything so this may not be until the weekend. It shouldn't be a sizing issue on the PSU but it's the last thing I can think that could trigger this type of crash and that I have the ability to definitively rule out.

Seems plausible. Let us know how it goes.

Unfortunately I've tried several versions of video drivers to no avail. The crashes are totally random insofar as I can tell. Sometimes they occur after only a few minutes and other times I might be able to stay in the instance for an hour or so.

Cheers for clarifying that.

When you re-installed the game to a different HDD, did you just copy/paste the same folder/files over, or did you download a completely new copy of the game?

Completely fresh copy of the game. The old version was uninstalled and any remaining files were purged from the drive prior. At this point I'm at a loss.

I think we can also rule out other system hardware failures. I have an identical secondary machine which I swapped HD's and launched the game from. Same issue. The game reliably crashes but only in a few zones.

Hey there,

I'd recommend downloading the game whilst being connected to a VPN.
Since the issue is occurring on two different machines, there's a chance you're getting a bad copy of the game.
We have a thread that details how to do this here:

I was getting this issue also. I solved the problem by running the game in vista compatibility mode.

I tried a lot of things and it was super frustrating.

Good luck and I hope this helps.
To those with the random restarts, could your cpu/video card be overheating?

My PC is now restarting every time I go to the log-in screen. Just started happening today, nothing about my PC has changed. Why do you think that is?

Could be a lot of things.. I'd start with making sure your drivers are all updated, and check temperatures on the CPU and GPU to see what they're running and and if you could be overheating. That's usually the culprit.

The drivers are up to date, Path of Exile is the only game that behaves incorrectly on my computer. Whenever I log in, my computer restarts. No overheating, no nothing.

Hey there,

Can you please post a new thread with some more detail about the issue so that we can investigate it further?

If you could include a DxDiag readout, and any other steps you've taken to resolve this problem it would be greatly appreciated.
