Yes, every time. Trading is far superior to actually playing.

i think the players who have more than 1k exalts are buying from RMT. you can't be a legit player and make that much, assuming you're not some lucky one who drops a 6l shavs and a mirror.

Ofc they can and ppl already explained how - not just by farming, but exclusively by trading and flipping. These guys simply spend 80-90% of their play time on market, hunting for noobs to rip off. They also craft incredible items and buy to 6L the most expensive uniques, because they are rich, and re-sell them for more profit.
Here's a story : once I found a shav. I sold it to a guy for xx exalts. Twenty mins later it was already 6L and price was +xx exalts.

I don't buy from rmt sites and i still think playing like this is boring, it's not even playing
and you are ruining your playtime.
You'll get this once you move out from your parent's house and after a day of work you'll come home and you will just wanna have fun.

What do you do when you never get that drop, when you get just enough drops to sustain your map pool. It's easy to trade something for 7 ex that you know will sell for 10...when you have 7 ex you can just play around with. Where might that 7 ex come from in the first place....most likely a 15ex plus drop that starts it all off for ya.

Let me tell you a quick story, was in a puplic 68 map thats pa when i see thunderfists drop. Of course they are allocated to someone else. In frustration, I start to walk away when they suddenly aren't allocated... and of course im just a second too late to get them. If i would have gotten them my ENTIRE mapping experience would be completely different. I could have had better gear( i have found all of one upgrade from the millions of rares and uniques that have dropped, and im up to running 76/77 maps......)i could have bought my way right into 70/71 tier, with more iir who konws what i might have found along the way?

Not to mention i could be a few lvls higher. The amount of times i have died in a chaos damage map that puts me at huge risk with half my health reserved is numerous. Lack of currency was the SOLE cause of this. Now if only i had shavs.....

Now i trade what i find, but i never ever can afford to buy something for multiple exs to flip for an ex profti 2 weeks later. More often then naught, that comes from that one lucky drop you get early one. So while the op has some good ideas, they are seem predicated upon having a ton of currency already.

Now im sure i could have 100 million dollars if i get to start with 50 million...so are you really going to tell me nothing beats being lucky with that one good drop?

I can't get your point.
Once again : these ppl are rich not because of self found drops, but because of playing a trade simulator. They play a different game. Why?
- because they are tired of playing the game as we know it and prefer playing the tycoons
- because they are involved in RMT as sellers, and consider trading as a job, for cash
- .....................(who knows)
I don't know how and when thousands of different people accumulated their initial capital.
But I know something else : even if you had your lucky drop,even if not thunders, but shav, even if you had your lategame attempt, secured by currency, several weeks later you would be as poor as you started. Believe me or not.

I'm not saying nothing beats being lucky with that one good drop. I'm saying trading will make you more currency than running around with insane MF. I run around with insane MF and have amazing clear time (shav) and yet im still far poorer than my friends.
