Shavronnes as an example simply is horrible because there wont be anyone whos selling it under value (value is not neccessarily the highest price some random set).

You dont have a reason to sell the item in a hurry. If youre able to sell it for more than 33 that is because you got lucky, nothing else. Because for the item to sell for that much it requires a shortage, ergo no one else who is selling it for less.

If you wanna talk about flipping items you shouldnt mention some of the most valuables ones in the game, especially since thats not a good example for other people to follow. Take your Shavronnes example. Just because the item used to go for 25exalted in the beginning of a league doesnt mean its a logical thing to assume that the value will skyrocket 2 months later.

Its a risky investment. You basically spend a lot of money on hoping that the value will increase while crippling your own usuable funds. What if RF gets nerfed? The dropgates are increased? Theres some sort of patch that makes the item worse? Its a risk most people cant take, hell I in client to go as far and say noone who isnt constantly morphing legacy league currency to the new leagues can. Let alone that your posted examples have no proof that the trade actually happened. You cant even provide a comment on the Shavs thread. I did that quite a few times as well, selling something for less than the b/o stating that it sold for b/o on the thread itself. Not uncommon for people to do.

Especially in new league conversion rates are jumping around like crazy, another problem you have to consider. Sure, in legacy leagues they might be stable by now, but exalted for example skyrocketed from 13chaos to 29chaos in 2 days at the beginning of OS, something that is hard to anticipate.

The problem for most people is that making money from trade is something a lot are aware of, but it costs time and dedication to actually make enough to justify the time investment. Not everybody can invest 4 ex into an item because he thinks it might sell for 10. Its a judgement call that a person with a lot of experience might be able to make, but not a person who struggles with gathering enough money for a Shavs after 8 months.

I sold a bunch of shavs i believe. And all had a profit of "MORE THAN 3EX" trust me. I gave all the examples in this thread from go to buying forum searching for someone willing to pay several chaos's for a rare he would like, to flip currencies. ( which, one of the readers of this thread used and made with it 4X times his old wealth he told me) I made him promise he would give me 1000EX in the futur, let's see if he will keep his promise.

People like me who have the money to flip items like Shavronnes (yet I still wouldnt do it) know about those things dude. Theres nothing new in your post.

Most people simply dont have the funds, its as simple as that.

The only players that know about this stuff are MMO players ( who play a lot of games), which i am not! And as a reminder : a lot of players here did only play D2 and similar stuff, a lot of us never played an online game. PoE is Online we have to deal with it, we have to deal with the market. We have to learn how to master it. It's a long path, i am still learning, but for now, i achieved what i wanted and thought i might share what i gathered through my journey.

I was under the assumption that a lot of ARPG players also touched MMO once or twice. But you are correct. In MMOs its the most common way to make money since the economy, same as here, is community driven.

You always buy from the people who values items low and sell them to the people who value them high. WoWs auction house was the prime example for that.
