One-week "Resistance Penalty Testing" Hardcore Ladder Race

I played an es+life pure damage bow shadow and died at ruthless Vaal at lvl 48 due to bad play (with 75% lighning res). After that a leapslam marauder to 30.

I really like the res penaltys. As the es+life bow shadow i went damage+movementspeed instead of def and res (running around with -10% to 10% res and maxing it for bosses) and it worked really well (as dodging most elemental projectiles is not that hard). In my opinion the res penaltys is a slight buff to ranged/es and its viable for ranged to ignore resistances till at least ruthless (no idea after that).

After playing the leapslam marauder i feel like melee is too strong at the moment, as a tanky two hand marauder deals the same aoe damage as a pure damage glass cannon bow shadow/ranger. The problem in my opinion is that the base damage of a two hand weapon is way better than bow + quiver (also the +%pdmg for str is way better than acc for dex) and there are more two hand weapon drops due to more weapon types than bows.
GG guys! Yay L70! That was my highest level character yet (both HC and SC). Maps were fun, though it doesn't seem you get much exp for them (3.5 to 5mil for L60 to L62 maps). Upto mid 60's Pyramid (and even Fellshrine) runs seem to be better exp.

Congratulations to the winners, I really enjoyed this event, made it to level 63 just to be smacked by vaal =)
Alt-F4, Lvl 1 fillers, etc
Yep thats a real valid test bed for changes.

You ever watch somebody restore a car and then go wrong at the last minute, at first they take care with every step to make it so every little bit is exactly right but when it is almost done they get all excited and do something stupid like paint pink flames on it.

Great race, had so much fun. Really sad that Spoon didnt make it to 78 too. I couldnt have done it if he wasnt there. :/

Neither Spoon nor I did use ALT#F4 or lvl1-Toons. Its just bad sportsmanship to assume all ppl really do that just because its possible. (some do but im pretty sure its the minority)

Gonna put some Feedback tomorrow, right now i just wanna sleep :D

GG.

This was how I originally thought the experience mechanic worked (until a few weeks ago)

For instance, you could use a % based formula to deter low level parking. With the highest level player being the base for the formula.
The only problem with this is that mechanics shouldnt be build with their sole intention to prevent exploits, in a legitamate party situation this would discourage party members to party with anyone lower levelled than them which is a hindrance to party play.

I think that, in real party situations the current formulas are doing fairly well, and it would make a lot of sense to me if parties operated the way Axebane stated previously. That being said, I have no problem with the way the exp mechanic works in real parties, but one solution or another has to be used to stop people multi boxing or else people will lose interest.

Why would anybody listen to somebody who is a member on a botting board with a nickname named softcoresux and a simple google search shows that he is using 3rd party tools himself on D2?

It's really simple how to break such a thing.
Prevent rushing by creating level restrictions on certain areas.
D2 LoD had 4 quest restrictions level 8 for the malus and 20, 40 and 60 for ancients(to finished the quest the characters had to reach those levels.)
Just set restrictions to enter/leave certain areas. Like level 20 for Vaal Normal. Level 11 for Merveil and make them level their characters.
Also prevent rushes by other characters and not drop certain quest items that are needed for progression if >70% of the damage were done by a character that already has finished the quest.

Prevent botting by making PoE incompatible with tools like Proxifier and allow only 1 active connection/PC.(Detecting VMWare etc to prevent other loopholes)

Disconnect players that idle several minutes for some time without moving when they are out of town.

Considering chicken functions it would be quiet simple to create a check on how much HP somebody left and remove it from the current experience after a certain barrier.

Default cheaters will be punished as if they died and HC ones will constatly stay at certain level because their script triggers far too often.
A script will always end in the same result because it can't reflect if the potions will refill in time or sense danger.
It will leave even it's just a molten shell of a goat that exploded with no other dangers nearby.

A player that logged in again and received a message for example :"Your character left at 45% HP+ES while monsters were nearby, that's X more than a regular quit. You character has lost X% experience of his current level"

Unless you are puctured and have no defense most escapes could also have been accomplished by running away and kick in some potions.

Creating a delay even it's just 2 seconds will result in players creating unsafe TPs/Spawn points and players running into a dead end might die.
Not to mention random disconnects.

Considering the map drop rates it's still sad that you have to do many level 60-62 maps to get at last a 64 or 65 map despite using chisels and creating something with a high quantity.

Resist nodes certainly need better placement.
Like I said a Maradeur, Templar and a Witch will get resists quiet fast
Resist nodes need a better placement and not to be placed in "classcrossoversections" and towards the center.
Maybe looking at the open beta and act 3. Resist penalties should be like a curse that gets stronger over time.

Resist penalties work like that:
Kill Vaal.
Check cold and fire reist on the next difficulty and switch gear on fire/cold areas.

Skip lightning areas in act 1.
Check your resists in sinds and before Vaal and farm and repeat.

Also considering endgame maps the elem weakness curse, Elemental quilibrium and max resists need to be increased.

The sun will rise again, politicians will lie, and Hilbert will say dumb things.

I feel like I have a stalker now lol~

By the way, have you played D2 lately? I'm probably one of the most legit D2 players you will ever meet. In all the top 16 ladders I placed in on D2, which was basically every season, I did so without maphack, chicken or any other program....and I don't know if you ever played D2 but hacks were prolific.

I used loader (because you had to if you wanted to compete) but I did it without any hacks multiple PCs or windows user accounts and multiple seperate legit purchased copies of D2.

i've never had an in game account banned or suspended in any game. Period. I could see myself getting banned or suspended for cursing an idiot like you out...but I'll refrain for the moment.

I have never used a third party program in PoE. As a matter of fact I'm not in possession of any un-authorized third party programs for any game.

You don't need to in order to abuse the party system. It is broken and it needs fixing. I explained this before and few listened. I expect people will listen now.

That is the problem. I have been talking about this since before this race started, based on what was going on in the last race.

If you have the ability to read you'll notice I'm a big promoter of keeping this game legit not creating viable options for cheaters to get advantages.

You can say whatever you want about me. You can say I'm a member of jsp, or call me names, or whatever you want. That does not mean I use third party programs...because I simply do not.

So say what you want about in terms of your opinion, your entitled to your opinion. If you want to cast false allegations about me on a public forum...that really makes you a pretty horrid person of the lowest degree.

P.S. The irony of it is, it doesn't matter who I am. My points are well founded in terms of the exploits of chicken hack (not here yet but it will be) and loader/multiple lvl 1 booster exp (it is already here and you can do it completely without any outside programs as I demonstrated in this last race.)

Anyone who played D2 on any competitive level knows exactly what I'm talking about.

lol, I didnt even play D2 on a competitive level, and I still loaded up my games with level 1's :P Its just what you do, its normal in D2. I hope PoE will be cheat/hack-free and as legit as it possible can be, but having played games for so long, im sure there will be those who cheat, you cant stop everyone :( But try atleast.
