Self-Found (League) [Thread outdated!]

He is just blowing smoke. It will happen, I think, I hope, or D3 and it's problems here I come.
Crafting doesn't exist in POE. Gambling does...and the house always wins.

Velocireptile - I LOL'ed. Which made me fart. I wish the office were empty right now :(

Hardlicker - I had to push the dog out of the way so I could get to the sexy quilt.
Let bring out the big guns and see if they can look straight in those poor eyes and say no to SFL

It's quite strange really, when you think about it.

PoE will likely get a lot more players between now and next year whith D3 AH/loot-find changes.

I'd wager a large influx of instant-gratification shoppers coming from D3 to PoE and hardcore loot-find aRPGers going to D3.

PoE will be talked about as the casual shopping game all the while calling themselves the hardcore aRPG.
Casually casual.

As a supporter how do you feel about that? I think Chris and the team are in denial about SFL. Just like they were in denial about the loot drops. FFA, Short, or Perm eventually happened and I hope and pray SFL happens in POE.

i agree that hopefully SFL will find its way in just like the loot allocation options.... Not that i ever group of course.

I'll apologize in advance, I've read the Dev contributions to this thread, but not all 102 pages.

There is a small subset of hardcore players who want to try a solo/self found league race. A week or month long race "league" with a ladder based on self-found would be fun for those players. And, if they are already playing solo/self found in a regular league, it would have no effect on the experience of existing players - perhaps outside of removing some chat lines from /global.

Another idea that I agree would be fun is a craftsman league. Kind of like a month-long descent or endless ledge style league, where drops for crafting materials are pumped way up, allowing the user to craft without sacrificing "value" of those orbs. And, at the end of the day, it dumps you to null-league (well, your stash and items at least).

I supported GGG in closed beta because I really wanted them to have my money, they appealed to me in so many ways. I supported them in open beta because I wanted to buy stash tabs and liked the look of the weapon effects from the Divine and Exalted packs.

While ethically GGG still appeal to me and my wallet, the now clear-to-me vision that Chris has which I see as ridiculous in an aRPG, more so when calling that aRPG hardcore; carries far more weight, conversely, to the appeal.

Needless to say, any more money I'd put GGG's way, would be for if and when I need more stash space. I'm looking for a hardcore aRPG loot-finder, I thought I'd found that in PoE, but then I hit end game where hardcore aRPG game play is discouraged, in fact it is made impossible, while shopping, scamming, leeching, lowball MFing or RMTing will work just fine.

So how do I feel?
I don't regret supporting them originally, I can say it got me beta access to an awesome game, to begin with. Any contribution thereafter hasn't been 'support' as such, but purchases for which I got what I paid for. So no issues there. I am, however, very sad that a company with such pure ethics and morals as GGG, failed to produce the aRPG I had hoped for and I don't think they ever will, not with the vision Chris has.
Casually casual.

Hi

When GGG allows players to do the research survey just answer all questions with SFL, hehe.

+1 SFL

I would really think it beneficial if GGG tried this league out on a temporary could become permanent basis. As Qarl mentioned one of the biggest issues being balance, would not this league allow GGG to do some cleaning? I think that if this league were allowed GGG could allow more orb drops without getting mf(iir/iiq) rolls on blue or yellow items and properly test how much mf affects the game(yes I read recently that Chris has mentioned changes to mf coming) and this league can also go a step further and implement new recipes and more specialized orbs for crafting that if work well can eventually be mixed into standard.

New recipes that would better involve the mods on your item mixed with basic orbs(transfusion orb, alteration, etc) that depending on stats could roll specialized orbs that would add a specific mod or re-roll a specific mod on item,ex: transfusion orb+ 3 resist rolled item= orb of resists(which could roll 1-3 resistances). These specialzied orbs could then be used with higher lvl orbs(alchemy, chaos, etc.) to increase the mods the specialized orb would roll,ex: orb of resists+ exalted= exalted orb of resists( rolls/re-rolls 1-3 high resist rolls on item). The definition of crafting presently existing in this game is more akin to gambling.

SFL:1)No trades with other players.2)No mf rolls on blue or yellow items.3)Increased orb drops NOT items.4)Permanent loot allocation, no party benefits(ex:increased drops).5)New recipes and specialized orbs.

If you had said something about loot shoppers moving to Poe and loot finders moving to D3 a few months ago I would laughed like mad and thought you a fool.

Though now with D3 looking, for all intents and purposes, like it is going back to being a "proper" ARGP, I not only fully agree with you, but I actually find D3 is becoming a game I might well buy when the expansion comes out.
