Self-Found (League) [Thread outdated!]

Just logging in to say that not only would a SFL bring me back to the game but I would pay to enter a permanent one.

Because the late-middle to endgame turns into a Korean MMO grind for people who don't want to have to spend a large portion of their time trading/fliping/RMT'ing (instead of actually playing the game) or spend lots of time in full groups led by guys who have gotten all their gear through heavy-trading/flipping/RMTing.

This is something that has greatly diverged from the way it was like in D2 (and its the exact same problem D3 has).

i dont know, i seem to do just fine with only a little bit of trading and no RMT.
the game is a grind no matter what you do.

The person above addressed one aspect.

There are however some who actually like what they describe, myself being a prime example.
For me, just not trading was great, the drop rates of gear, tuned for trading, meant the game accommodated the silly amounts of time I had to throw at it.

Great, me being gimped in gear meant the content I hammered against to try to upgrade, was challenging throughout. Then I hit end game.

Just don't trade, sounds great, but PoE end game is gated behind an obscene amount of orbs, you have to pay for challenging content access. So the alternative to trading is either RMT or farm/grind. Well, I already said I like to grind, I have the time. But, and this is the BIG FUCKING BUT, the content I have to grind for hour after hour after hour in MF is of no challenge whatsoever, the challenging content is what I am grinding to attempt to roll, and then once successful, it's only a sniff and back to faceroll.

So there you have two quite converse reasons of the issue. One from someone without time and one from someone with around 3200 hours at a guess since OB began.

Is SFL the answer, honestly I don't think it is, because the people who have not yet seen the end game issues, would only be introduced to them in a SFL unless the orb drops were upped by about 50-100 times the current rate. And that is not going to happen.

Better would be to fix the problem in these leagues, but, again, that isn't going to happen either.

I don't understand why you would support a change you know is inferior, when both the best change and the change you propose would require significant work on GGG's part.

Support?
I support the people wanting a change. Those wanting SFL and those wanting a better change.

Neither are going to happen, let's face it. PoE will survive long on the model it has, it's going to be getting a lot more D3 shoppers over the next few months.

I support them when people respond with 'just play self-found'. In that you can't 'just play self found' without the time investment that very few have. Then, even with that time investment, you still can't 'just play self found' at end game. This is a loot-find aRPG for crying out loud yet it isn't, at all.

It's a giant flaw in PoE design as an aRPG, it's an enormous embarrassment to carry the title hardcore aRPG.

I just feel very attached, protective if you like, to the apparently few people left that actually want to play an aRPG, H&S, loot-finder.
